As a counter-arguement I’d offer:
Curt Schilling (D’Backs) vs. Pedro Martinez (Red Sox) at Fenway Park.
Barry Bonds at Yankee Stadium.
As to your examples, how about Tigers vs. Devil Rays or Phillies vs. Padres?
