According to Senior Fellow at the Carleson Center for Public Policy, Director of Entitlement and Budget Policy for the Heartland Institute, and General Counsel of the American Civil Rights Union Peter Ferrara, who served for both Reagan and Bush I, the reason is really pretty basic: Obama isn’t a terribly bright guy to begin with, and juxtaposed with Ryan on issues of the economy and tax policy, his light dims even more noticeably.
Personally, I think Ferrara has it half right it. Obama hates Ryan because Ryan shows him up, sure; but the real reason Obama hates Paul Ryan is because Paul Ryan knows Obama is a fraud, a plant, an academic charlatan who has gotten by on buzzwords and undue deference his entire life, and Obama knows he knows it.
I hope it burns, too.

He’s so used to having people (who, by the way, are explicitly exploiting him for their own reasons and have been all along) metaphorically falling down prostrate at his every word, that it simply infuriates him when someone stubbornly refuses to do so. He truly is a Chauncey Gardner, only with miserable people skills and no message to tell André.

“[ConservativeX] knows [ProggY] is a fraud, a plant, an academic charlatan who has gotten by on buzzwords and undue deference his entire life, and [ProggY] knows he knows it.”
A versatile formulation, really.
Not to mention one is a bloodsucker who hates to be exposed to the light of day and the other one only looks like Eddie Munster.
Probably also explains why any number of Republicans on the Hill are a bit leary of Ryan as well. There’s a gentleman’s agreement about frauds and charlatans in D.C. after all.
It’s too bad we couldn’t have Ryan debate Obama instead of (likely) Romney.
What a cheerful Peter Ferrara believes that Obama also hates: “This is why he has no prayer of being reelected. America is not Venezuela.”
While we’re at it, could our so-called conservative allies stop referring to Barry as a “professor” of Con Law? He isn’t.
http://illinoisreview.typepad.com/illinoisreview/2012/04/which-is-it-mr-president-professor-or-senior-lecturer.html
University of Chicago Law School media site informed me that in 2008, in response to media inquiries, a carefully worded statement was released regarding Obama’s status as a “Senior Lecturer.” The statement related that Obama was a Senior Lecturer from 1996 to 2004 during which time he taught three courses per year. As a Senior Lecturer Obama was considered to be a member of the University of Chicago Law School faculty who ARE regarded as professors. In other words, Obama served as a “professor in name only” in his part-time position at the University of Chicago Law School, without any of the qualifications implied by a professorship appointment.

Why does the media continue to refer to Barack Obama as a former law professor at the University of Chicago. Professor does roll of the tongue better as when saying “special lecturer” or “professor”?
Might it also be a continuing effort by the media to portray Obama as a highly intelligent man or intellect following that idiot of a president that proceeded him, George W. Bush?
There are lots of people at a university who are considered faculty without the tenure and prestige of being a full professor. Which Barry was not, ever.
OT: I’ve got tax records going back to the mid-90s. Anybody know off the top of their head how many years I can get rid off? Everything older than 2005?
I think the window is the last seven years, Ernst.
7 years, Ernst. The IRS can go back 6.
Paul Ryan could be the nearest thing we have to a real anti-Obama. Since Sarah Palin was knocked out, of course.
And sdferr, there’s lots of easily-community-organized Americans who would be just as happy to be known as Venezuelans, as long as they had Obama’s stash to revel in.
Hillary Rosen phones to say she wishes Paul Ryan had been a stay-at-home dad, because he isn’t doing a lick of work in Congress.
Thanks.
Oh heck jdw, I don’t deny there’s plenty of foolish people in America — that’s as obvious as obvious can be: after all, Obama won!
But, I don’t think that plenty outnumber more decent and rational people who may be fooled once but will be damned (they’ll say to themselves) if they’ll be fooled again, plus that other large contingent who were never fooled in the first place. So, I’m sticking with the thought that Obama’s a goner and there’s nothing he can do about it now but make it worse.
Apart from the petulance and the unimaginative government-issued class warfare rhetoric, I am surprised Barry hasn’t become more aggressive. There are less than seven months left in the campaign. However, they may be waiting until the last six weeks or so, when the
lazy, disinterestedindependent, crucial swing voters begin to peel back their eyelids. That is a great article.
It is all of a piece with reports of Obama’s general disdain for the demands of the office.
Every single day is a reminder of just what a charlatan he is – people smarter than him, people harder working than him, people with more integrity than him – and those are just people who share his political ideology.
That someone who disagrees with his leftist inculcation, or forefend, actively opposes it, might seem any or all of those things to him, and yet his office requires that he entreat with them?
Revolting, and certainly not what he thought he was signing up for.
“Can’t I just eat my waffle while you idiots sit around thinking you’re smarter than me, which you aren’t?”
“Ryan shows him up, sure; but the real reason Obama hates Paul Ryan is because Paul Ryan knows Obama is a fraud, a plant, an academic charlatan who has gotten by on buzzwords and undue deference his entire life, and Obama knows he knows it.”
See, now, this is the sort of thing that makes me want to spend my time and money at protein wisdom.
It’s great writing, and it’s the sort of thing one wants to be reminded of daily.
One harkens back fondly to the early fake-ass healthcare meeting at which Our Man Ryan called bullshit on the President, pointing out that he was relying on the well known doc fix gimmick which apparently comes around every year.
Your passage also brings to mind another favorite youtube scene, General Petraeus staying entirely calm but eventually smiling to himself just a bit as Senator Obama went on and on and on during his question time with Petraeus, giving a long ridiculous speech and never once asking a question.
I suspect most GOP critters know that Obama is a fraud, they just aren’t all that worked up about it.
Actually, at times I think President Obama knows he’s a fraud, hence the petulant president US citizens are routinely subjected to.
Obama: The Clothes’ New Emperor.
“…and Obama knows he knows it.”
Thomas Sowell writes of knowing a mediocre academic who advanced only thanks to affirmative action programs. His awareness of this eventually turned him into a bitter racist: Far better to blame others than to admit ones own faults.
I like calling Obama the lecturer in chief.
That is all he’s done as President far as I am concerned… lecture us.
Every time he gives a speech? nope. Not a speech, it is a lecture to the peons
“I like calling Obama the lecturer in chief.”
Certainly not professor in chief, because he doesn’t have the academic qualifications. :-)
[…] Ryan took apart Obama and Obamacare — in 6 minutes!” (We already know what Mr. Obama thinks of the selection if it is indeed Rep. Ryan; note the steam coming out of Mr. Obama’s ears and the stutter out […]
