And here I thought the “moral anus of the universe” was Newark.

Nah, Newark is only the physical anus of the US.

Globally, I think the post is held by Adelaide, SA.

The U.N. is the Mos Eisley of a universe in which Han never shoots first.

Yeah well, good speech and all but we’ve been hearing this since 9-11 and I think the people who care agree and the ones who don’t still jabber about those poor palestinians and looks sideways at AIPAC and start the cycle of ignorance over. This message has gotten out multiple times. The facts really do NOT support an anti-Israel position well. We need to start assuming that present and future Israel bashing is the product of willful intent rather than disinterested indolent ignorance.

If’n I was Israel, I’d be feelin’ a might tetchy right about now. Talk about livin’ in a bad neighborhood. Derby wouldn’t even venture outside. And those A-rabs and Persians ain’t dumb. Think they even invented cypherin’.

Whenever I look at the beef options on a menu I can’t help but think what a difference a G makes.

Not a fan of the Bi Mac, are you? Ho-moo-phobe!

Back off Newark, bub. Most of the city is a shit hole but the Iron Bound section still has some awesome Portuguese restaurants, so there is at least one redeeming quality about Newark. I doubt you can say that about the UN.

PS. Tony De Caneca is an awesome Portuguese restaurant if you are ever in Newark.

I hear the Passaic River used to spontaneously combust every so often.

  9. leigh says:

I believe that was the Ohio River, SW.

  10. Silver Whistle says:

No Leigh, a college roommate from Newark, Buster Hyman, told me about it. Made it sound kind of romantic, the flames as a backdrop to the night time city.

    Differn’t river, leigh.

  12. Swen says:

You knew Buster and Hazel Hyman? Small world it is!

I bet Condell is a real hoot at parties.

I vaguely remember the Cuyahoga River catching fire in Cleveland, but never heard about the Passaic River doing so before. Then again, if SW had a Jewish roommate from Newark in college, he has to have at least a few decades on me. I think the 1960’s riots pretty much chased every last Phillip Roth out of Newark. The Italians stuck around a bit longer, but no one’s ever accused inner city Italians of being smart … or unarmed, for that matter.
