You just thought I did because you are all racist haters who are too stupid to understand the nuances of my non-blaming of right wing whites for the perpetuation of dangerous stereotypes that, because they are perpetuated and given political legitimacy by racist hatey right wing bitter clingers, may have lethal consequences.
Which is not the same as blaming any of these white right wing racists and their covert, dog-whistle racism for racist attacks on innocent blacks. It was instead only an effort to draw an intellectual parallel. For purposes of explication.
— About how racist right wing whites and their coded racist calls for violence against interlopers of color can perpetuate hateful stereotypes that can lead an Hispanic neighborhood watch captain to answer a 911 dispatch operator’s question about the description of Trayvon Martin with racist descriptions, such as (maybe?) “black” and “wearing a hoodie.” With lethal consequences.
That’s not blame. That’s just, like, science. Practically.
(thanks to JD)
Might want to check out the twitter account @killzimmerman. The nice avatar even has a target painted over Zimmerman’s photo…
Has anyone checked to see if Sarah Palin opened this account?
Shorter Karen Finney: These are not the droids you’re looking for.“
You know, it’s actually gotten to a point that the left believes they can point to a coffee table, say “See that? That’s not a coffee table, that’s a Ford F-150” and expect us to just nod and say “Okay”.
And even if we disagree, well, it doesn’t matter.
Because it just is.
Still peddling that crap. Is Karen Finney a liar or a moron?
Wait . . . liars can’t be morons or vice versa?
Did they hire Maureen Dowd?
Wait . . . liars can’t be morons or vice versa?
I was giving a lady the benefit of the doubt, sdferr.
Ah, I probably should too SW, but something about her manner twists my inclination to indulge her.
We just have to keep Alinskying the Alinskyites.
David Horowitz is right about how to fight the culture war and ordinary conservatives are employing it now everywhere. Andrew Brietbart I think caught it at a peak and was a master of it, but this has been slowly building from within conservatives for some time now. Rush helps in that he makes conservative arguments and ideas very well and has taught a 2 generations of people how to articulate conservative ideas and combat the leftwing stereotyping of us as troglodites and racists. Maybe some DC GOP pussies drone on about “civility” but the rank and file isn’t having any of it, including some very heavy hitters. And the rank and file is being effective in counter-punching leftist propaganda memes right out.
I’ve been in this culture war for 32 years. I ain’t giving up now, when theres a real chance to capture the GOP in the works.
We’re going to take the GOP over. The kiss-asses of the GOP will eventually be relegated to the back of the big tent, where they want to keep us. It’s just going to take time to get there.
That kind of tendentiousness will win you the Bancroft prize.
Or possibly a Pulitzer.
I see what you mean, sdferr. I take it back – a moronic liar.
Speaking of Things You Must Believe…meh.
John Cole has well and truly hobo-hopped onto the crazy train, adjacent car to Ken Layne.
John Cole, Juan Cole, what’s the difference?
John Cole has well and truly hobo-hopped onto the crazy train
Somebody’s in denial about something and projecting/transferring it on to others, that’s for sure.
Cole lost his mind. But he gets readership, advertisers, and kudos for completely changing his worldview. I mean, 100%. That’s laudable, you see.
Unless you’re a former leftist. Then it’s a betrayal, or a sign of false consciousness, etc.
John Cole has serious mental issues. I kid you not. There’s something wrong with that dude. I may bitch and whine, but I’m really not needy. People like Cole or Charles Johnson, on the other hand, are poster children for such things.
Who can read that stuff? His blog even has a stoopid name and he sounds like a closet case.
“They”? He can’t bear to write it out, the poor widdle thing.
I don’t think he changed his worldview, just the target of his ire.
Although, I suppose having the right enemies might be considered a worldview by some.
The thing is, Cole hates religion. I believe he used to self-describe as libertarianish. How you go from that self-identity to hard leftist — well, in you private moments, you have to know just how nutso that is, requiring as it does a total surrender of libertarian principles.
Of course, it happened to many of the Reason fellows too. So. I mean, I can understand being repulsed by McCain. But Obama? Come now.
So you’re saying it’s all our fault, for not giving John and Charles what they needed. It’s not that they’re unfit to read; it’s that I am unfit to do the reading. So thoughtless; so heartless. I feel like such a horrible human being. If only I had tried harder.
Mea maxima culpa!
Mercy mercy “values” are cheap in that world. ‘s-allmost enough to make one question the value of ’em.
I can see how you could go from libertarianish to hard leftist if your libertarianishness consists of I should be free to do whatever I want and you then conclude government should exist to help me do it.
Or maybe it’s all the pharmacological experimentation certain types of libertarians are allegedly so adventurous about.
The thing is, I don’t really agree with much of what John says he was like. It doesn’t describe me. I don’t hate liberals. Vigorously disagree with them on some issues, certainly, but hate? No.
Narcissistic personality disorder, maybe; this notion that large numbers of walking man-flesh share your twisted, angry view of things.
At least he’s finally found himself an audience that universally digs him. It’s almost as if he’s surrounded himself with large numbers of walking man-flesh that share his twisted, angry view of things.
Well, since, according to Tammy Bruce. most liberals are malignant narcissists, it would seem Mr. Cole found his way home.
Vigorously disagree with them on some issues, certainly, but hate? No.
Thing is, as they demand that my would-be masters interfere more and more with my life, and steal more and more of my income, I’m slowly coming around to the hate side of things. If they were simply idiots, I might shrug it off. But they’re choosing to make themselves useful idiots, empowering my enemies, and it’s starting to rub me the wrong way.
Is Karen Finney a liar or a moron?
Both.
The thing that really scares me about all this is I wear a hoodie almost everyday in the winter, I had no idea the danger I was putting myself in. I probably am lucky to be alive.
Although that does explain all the watermelon and fried chicken wisecracks…
I wear one too in the winter. Course it’s red-white-blue plaid and I use the hood rarely.
Back in the era when the fight for Civil Rights was a noble cause instead of a scam the image of a hooded figure carried a whole different meaning.
Like squid, hate seems to be where my take on the left is going. And why such a strong emotion? Well, I’m tired of being called a racist, sexist homophobe who wants to kill old people and brown people. I’m tired of the lying. I’m tired of the leftists using the media as Pravda, I’m tired of all the money wasted on “clean energy” and “global warming” at the behest of leftists, I’m tired of being called a “Climate denier” and that the “science is settled”. I’m tired of being told that I’m a bitter clinger, that the God I believe is an imaginary person who, if he had been real, would have been a democrat. I’m tired of leftists supporting the race hustling bullshit and justifying their hate by projecting it on to me.
I’m just done being nice. Maybe that’s not hate but its certainly strong strong levels of dislike.
Also, what’s with Cole’s constant use of homoerotic metaphors. I’m thinking someone’s dying to come out.
