When you’ve lost your own relatives…

Okay, seriously. Has the national GOP and its antiquated, feckless, would-be kingmaker apparatus really become this big a joke?

I mean, seriously, Rove. You and your whiteboard couldn’t even force on us an erstwhile “progressive” independent Paul Tsongas voter and Reagan opponent who had the universal support of his own family?

Shit, man. It’s like you guys aren’t even trying any more.

Come on, Jeff. Romney’s only spent a quarter billion dollars on this pet project of his — give him the benefit of the next eight months, will ya?

Come November he’ll be in the big leagues.

  2. John Bradley says:

    Enrich your word power!

    from Meriam-Webster:

    Snollygoster

    Definition:
    an unprincipled but shrewd person

    About the word:
The story of its origin remains unknown, but snollygoster was first used in the nasty politics of 19th century America. One definition of the word dates to 1895, when a newspaper editor explained “a snollygoster is a fellow who wants office, regardless of party, platform or principles….”

    Sample usage:
“That Mitt Romney is one fuck of a snollygoster, I’ll tell you what!”

(I might have added that last bit.)

My mom voted for Santorum in Oklahoma yesterday. She really wanted to vote for Ron Paul because of his domestic policy, but she said she just couldn’t do it because of his Israel policy. And she figured Santorum’s Catholicness would help with repealing healthcare.

She has come a long way over the last five years (as have I) in realizing how decayed the GOP apparatus is. Romney wasn’t even an option. I am proud of her.

“a snollygoster is a fellow who wants office, regardless of party, platform or principles….”

Reminds me of a certain former Democratic mayor of St. Paul/former Republican senator of Minnesota. Gee, I wonder who Diamond Norm Quimby Coleman is supporting this time around?

  5. cranky-d says:

Dayton just vetoed a bill that had bi-partisan support that gave protection to people who use deadly force to protect their property. I wasn’t surprised.

    He needs a good bitch-slapping.

  6. Squid says:

Needs a good pistol-whipping, is what.

  7. Ernst Schreiber says:

“When I asked the man what did he think he was doing with my lawnmower, and he turned to confront me and began menacing, I feared for my life…”

  8. cranky-d says:

Yeah, but could you retreat? This new law would have removed the necessity of retreating if you can.

  9. Ernst Schreiber says:

he was coming at me faster than I could back away

yeah, that’s how I remember it officer.

    Was his name Ogletree?

  11. McGehee says:

“I heard a commotion outside, and by the time I got to the driveway my lawn mower was emptying its gun into this man I’ve never seen before in my life.”

“Your lawn mower has its own gun?”

“It heard there’d been a lot of lawn mower thefts in the area, and it insisted I get it one.”
