Surreality ensues.
I have a bit of video of two seventeen-year-old “protesters” who are part of a high school class brought by their teacher — they! are! the 99%! — but since I changed hard drives I can’t remember how to get back into my youtube account to post it (if anybody has an account and wants to host the video, let me know). One of these young ladies told me they were being “taught” in school that we (bloggers? reporters? producers? videographers? libertarians? conservatives? people who have chosen a hemp-free lifestyle and don’t own plastic masks or Mao hats? Who this “we” is was never made entirely clear) are “fucking up the future” for them, and they are outraged!
Sadly, when pressed on how “we” were fucking up their future, the poor kids couldn’t say. Which is okay, of course. Because that’s how they feel, and its how they feel, no matter how much those feelings have been manipulated, that matters.
Jim Hoft of Gatewaypundit was able to catch up with the teacher and interview her. Late in the interview, she seems to finally sense that not only might bringing her class to the protest have been a bad idea, but that being interviewed on camera about it was likely a worse idea.
I mean, all this, and the Koch Brothers had nothing whatever to do with Blogcon11, a Freedomworks event. Bastards didn’t even bother to send a fruit basket or a cheese plate, truth be told. Meaning that these protesters, by dint of trying to storm our event, were essentially left “protesting” a new media conference whose goal it is to explore how best to expand avenues of competitive narrative distribution and provide more rapid and effective information dissemination for “the People”. Or put more simply, the “protesters,” self-righteously claiming the mantle of free speech, were protesting free speech.
— Well, that, and their leader in particular seemed quite upset that “humanity” was not getting the proper amount of water. Which as a result is killing off Indians. Somehow. Somewhere. Precious bodily fluids, you see. It always comes down to precious bodily fluids.
Takeaway? I guess the 99% prefer to be kept pig ignorant — WE WILL ATTEMPT TO SHOUT DOWN YOUR ATTEMPTS AT A MORE COMPETITIVE MEDIA ENVIRONMENT IN WHICH IDEAS CAN BE FREED FROM THE CONSTRAINTS OF AN IDEOLOGICALLY BIASED MAINSTREAM PRESS, RACIST HATERS! — and fuck if they won’t chant in unselfconscious sing-son their insistence that the rest of us allow them to stay that way.
As I said, surreal reality. Surreality.
So. I finally saw what democracy looks like. And it turns out it’s about 19, vacant-eyed, and wears far too much beige.

Police. Are. The army of the rich.
Which is a really odd thing for them to be chanting, given that police are unionized, and that the rich are all about union-busting.
But consistency, hobgoblins, etc.
These people are highly, highly ridiculous. They might have some good reasons for being pissed, but they seem to be completely unaware of just what those good reasons are.
I WILL SIT FOR NO MAN! WE ARE EQUAL!
I’m my life, I’ve encountered people who, no matter how many ways you proved them wrong, would never admit they were wrong. To the point where I just shut up and walked away. Of course, walking away had the effect of allowing whomever to think they’d “won” the argument.
Fascinating that same phenomena has a groupthink component.
[…] democracy looks like.” Jeff has some thoughts about that in his post, here, as well as the Goldstein Postulate, that all such confrontations eventually reduce to a conflict over precious bodily […]
They’ve even failed to brand their “movement” with any captivating aesthetic component. Folk songs are cliche and contemporary popular music seems ill-suited to the task.
I’ll host it for you if you like; there’s only one other video on my account, a small-town TEA Party rally-video from way back that I didn’t attend but thought needed embedding.
But if you have access to your GMail account, you can access YouTube with that, if it was created with the same email addy. They are all big-tenting nowadays.
The Goldstein Postulate? Is that a corollary to Blair’s Law?
;^)
Here’s the nitwit who thought it would be a good idea to bring her school kids to a potential riot. Ms. Celia Bard, who teaches “21st Century Challenges and Choices” among other classes at St. Mary’s Academy.
You can run but you can’t hide from my Googlefoo.

Sounds kinda preachy. Also: more like conversation than learning. Which is not to say that you can’t learn via conversation, but it does have that consensus-building feel to it.
“Indoctrination”, in other words, eh Slart?
No, that account was permanently disabled, says Youtube.
Can I just send you the video? I have to go back down to blogcon today.
“So. I finally saw what democracy looks like.”
Democracy, Shmemocracy.
We want to know what Scott Jacobs is like, Mr!
Watching the Ped St / Nebraska game. The Ped St players marched out onto the field five across, arm-in-arm.
Fucking creepy.
Ironically, they’re playing in Beaver Stadium
Send it to my Gmail account; if it’s under 10MB it’ll go through. Otherwise, you’ll have to split it into particulates.
Peen State, beedubya. Now I’ll have to find it.
Plenty of room to move around in Beaver Stadium, so I hear.

I have a question..and I am not trying to be dickish. Let me first say that there is a special place in hell reserved for Sandusky. I am in no way trying to mitigate or minimize what this sick bastard did.
My question is …how is it even possible what the sonofabitch did to that boy? Sandusky looks to me to be an average-sized man, or even more. The victim was ten.
I have had one prostate exam, and it was done by a Filipina doctor who was about 5’0″, and couldn’t have weighed more than 95 lbs.
It was one of the most physically unpleasant things I have ever experienced. It really was painful..even with the lube.
McQueary’s (or Mack-ery, as Al Sharpton pronounced it) testimony was was that he heard slapping noises.
There has to be as much physical damage as psychological.
Teaching of arrogant presumption. Class should be renamed “A Workshop of Applied Progressive Hubris”.
#11 – what are the odds of those topics being presented from a neutral, balanced POV that shows the arguments from both sides and lets the students come up with their own conclusions based on the evidence?
I’m thinking they’re about the same as winning the Powerball, but I might be overestimating a bit.
Regarding Teh Prostate Invasion:
I never had a problem with it. Maybe because I’ve already had a couple, plus a sigmoidoscopy. Or it could have been that one hot tub party where things got really out of hand with the tequila and quaaludes. Regardless, my doctor is female and tall enough to look me in the eye, and no problemo. You just have to relax. Same as with injections. If you tense up during either of those things, you’re going to hurt yourself.
After all, much bigger things have passed through your anus than the finger of your doctor, no?

That interview with the teacher is just priceless. All girls private school in the Denver area huh? How many could there be? I am going to guess this was not an approved outing for the group.
Humn … after watching the video, I’m thinking perhaps the girls may not have come away with the greatest impression of the “99%’.
Regard question #20- I’m sure there was a lot of damage inflicted.
Just to be clear, #23 and #24 were in no way intended to minimize the plight of unwilling someones at the receiving end of that kind of invasion.
That was understood, slart.
By me, at least.

At the risk of inflicting more disgust on the readers here, you need to remember that pedophiles spend a lot of time “grooming” their victims. That includes getting them used to being raped. They don’t start with inserting an erect adult penis, that comes later in the cycle.
between working in the DA’s office and Probation, there are just some things I wish I could scrub from my brain …
@26. Ms. Bard had better hope that was an approved outing, but somehow I doubt the parents signed off on a permission slip that said “Dear folks, we’re going to take your daughter to an event that might turn into a riot. Any problem with that?” I’d be astonished if any parents gave permission unless they were misled or not paying attention and I’d also be surprised if any school administrators signed off on this unless they were misled or not paying attention.
I won’t be surprised if Ms. Bard finds herself looking for another job though, ’cause I can see the ‘rents going ballistic and the administrators sure aren’t going to take the blame.
Well of course Koch brothers are behind blogcon! See, Koch brothers formed Citizens for a Sound Economy, which broke into AFP and FreedomWorks. So even if FreedomWorks never receives another dime of Koch money, they owe their existence to the brothers so that makes them co-conspirators!!1!1!11!
Or something.
21st Century: Challenges and Choices:
-Weapons Proliferation
Sounds like my gun cupboard at the moment. Still, I suppose I could squeeze another one in there somehow.
Jeff, put the videos up on depositfiles.com and send me or whoever the download link.
I dunno, Swen, they’re sending their kids to the Workshop of Applied Progressive Hubris(TM geoffb). Protest is probably part of the program.
Why struggle Silver Whistle? Just get another safe. Everyone should have two or three..
I’ve got two already full, Swen. But, while you may have more weapons than you need, you never have as many as you want. I guess that’s proliferation!
Heheh, I was interupted by the phone before the end of the interview with Ms. Bard. I’d bet the ‘rents didn’t sign off on having their daughters exposed to someone who might give them TB either. I wouldn’t want to be Ms. Bard right now.
I always figured that one in every caliber would be enough Silver. But I was wrong. Turns out you just can’t have too many 22s, and .44 mags come in an amazing variety! So far I’ve managed to restrict myself to only one 16 ga. though and I still don’t have a .458. :(
I’m pretty sure I could squeeze one of these in somewhere in 6.5 x 55, Swen. I’ve always fancied that calibre in a lightweight rifle. Maybe in a custom Highwall too, just for completeness?
As far as weapons, numbers don’t matter as long you’re never more than a step and a half away from one anywhere in your house. Also at least one of them should be able to stop a Cadilac at a 100 yds.
Leave room in the cupboard for one of these, Swen.
Yum yum.
Always wanted one of these myself and I don’t have a .38-55 yet either.
@3
Blake, I didn’t realize you knew Satan, my ex-girlfriend…
I am sure Kevin Jennings can answer question #20, as the spokesperson for the Obama Administration on the subject.
serr8d @43
I want one, but I don’t want to be anywhere near that dumbass in the video, who after taking the shot, then proceeds to sweep all of his friends with the muzzle of that beast.
Now that’s a lesson in scary gun handlin’ serr8d. Notice that first guy managed to spend all most as much time pointing the gun at his buddies as at the target? That reminds me though, I don’t have one of these either. Gotta love a gun that pushes you back three feet and leaves you teetering on your heels when you fire it.
I figure it’s only a matter of time until someone clones a mammoth and then they’ll have to be reintroduced into the wild. I got a feeling it won’t be in Central Park, probably closer to my back yard. Then I’ll have an excuse.
Recoil is your friend.
If you’re going to have an express rifle, it should be a double. The bolt action just looks hideous.
Yum yum indeed. I spent quite a bit of time drooling on the merchandise when Ballard was based in Cody. The pictures don’t do them justice, not even close. They’re true works of art in wood and metal. They had a sweet low wall schutzen rifle in .22 lr that was to die for, but it cost more than my pickup.
– If Ms Bard’s mosr excellent adventure finds it’s way into the lame-brain media, she’ll be exalted as a “brave new wave sort of pioneering teacher, out front on the cutting edge of progressive techniques, bringing reality and citizenship exposure to her flock”. Bummblefuck will want to give her some sort of medal.
– Well, and TB and possible riots, but then you can’t make an omelet without breaking a few heads you know.
– Do these idiots have a clue the way people with any common sense laugh at them?
Absolutely! That bolt gun is fugly. Always wanted a double. But why stop with a puny .700 Nitro when you can have one of these? Notice they couldn’t find anyone to shoulder it so they tied it to a bench to fire it! Yikes!!
I can understand the bolt gun being fugly; it’s a homemade job. A brassboard, if you will.
Still: why’d he make the barrel so short? I understand that that much metal could be heavy, but he’s only got about 18 inches of barrel.
What a hoot. I was in Glasgow Gunmakers once when the owner was restoring a single 4 bore; he let me heft it, and at 28 lbs, I reckon you didn’t have long on the target before the chicken wings started wobbling. Shells were brass, black powder load. You still hear the big black powder guns on the foreshore going “whoomp” and the flame licks out the muzzle.
Saw one of those punt guns on display down at the St. Michael’s, Md. Maritime Museum. A relic from the days when the sky could cloud with waterfowl.
And now look what we’ve done to Jeff’s thread while he’s away hobnobbing. I’ve got to agree BBHunter, if one of those girls comes down with TB the ‘tards in the Media will try to argue that it was in a good cause and she probably got it from the bloggers.
Speaking of ‘tards, have we had an update on Scott Jacobs? Or did the Occupiers scare him away?
Managed to beat YouTube into submission; here’s Jeff’s video, uploaded and ready for prime-time.
Need to rotate -90 degrees.
Bloggers: fucking up your future, one day at a time!
Rebel Without A Clue.
I think Silver Whistle and I were referring to the first .700 Nitro Slart. It wouldn’t have been half bad looking if they hadn’t given it an extended magazine, those don’t ever look good to my eye. I didn’t think the .700 WTF looked bad at all. But you’re right, that’s an awfully short barrel for that much bore and bullet, he’s probably giving up a lot of velocity.
“What do you think we learn at school?
This is what we learned about;
how you’re fucking up our futures.”
Knock it off, Jack !!!
Still: why’d he make the barrel so short? I understand that that much metal could be heavy, but he’s only got about 18 inches of barrel.
Don’t think he’s worried about generating a couple hundred extra fps out of that rifle, Slart.
Futurefuckers.
We can imagine the young ladies might have said “You’re fucking up our futures because you old pieces of shit have been too acquiescent to the radical left, abandoning Constitutionally solid political action protective of our liberties for cheap temporary voter buy-offs in a corrupt scheme to gain power unconnected to the public good.”, at which point we’d have to lay off the mushrooms.
I was thinking about the accuracy, but maybe he’s not worried about that, either.
Great chest shots! No point in focusing on their vacant little eyes..
I did that; for a couple minutes it was rotated correctly. Then it wasn’t. Now, it’s seemingly rotated correctly again…at least for now.
Clear your cache and check again? I’ve a bigger hammer, if I needs it.
Oh. Explorer locked up when I tried to view that .700 Nitro Express video, earlier; just got a look at it.
I was worried that the double could be shot both barrels simultaneously, and the poor guy would be rotated horizontal by the recoil. But no.
Oh. Loooong gun.
1000 grains doing 2000 fps will have a trajectory like a brick. If I recollect properly, express doubles are usually regulated to put both barrels together at 60 yds; given express sights and the dangerous game they were used on, long range accuracy wasn’t in the job spec. Blood on the shoes hunting to get your heart beating.
My dad had a 12 ga. side-by-side with double triggers that would double if you pulled the front trigger first (why you’re not supposed to pull the front trigger first I suppose). First time it did that to me I thought the gun had exploded. Second time I swore I’d never touch that POS again. I’m slow but I did eventually learn.
Oh. Here‘s your huckleberry, serr8d.
I’d guess that an absurdly large-caliber round having decent aerodynamics will in general shoot longer (and straighter) than a smaller-caliber round having the same aerodynamics.
Because mass goes up with the cube of diameter, assuming size goes up in proportion in all directions, while drag only goes up as the square of diameter. But for short-range work, it probably doesn’t matter much.

Very nice looong gun. It doesn’t look like that muzzle break is doing him much good though. The type with the big backward-angled ports like you see behind him is supposed to tame the recoil pretty well, as much as a .50 BMG can be tamed I suppose.
They used 20 mm rifles to shoot tanks in WWII.
Here‘s one with a better muzzle brake, possibly.

That is the only gun I like better than my M700 African Plains Rifle, which I got to play with recently. Good Allah, I love firing that piece of art. Tends to blow my shoulder to shit, no matter how careful I am, but well worth it.
