Is Cain’s real failing that he’s not a polished liar with a seasoned hit crew ready to tamp down on claims from accusers?
That is, is his failing that he not a professional politician?
Some of us clearly took different lessons away from the TEA Party and the GOP establishment parade of compromises than I did.
(Oh, and by the way? Pajamas Media — who broke the alleged details of the alleged allegations — rolled back the two most incendiary pieces of information. Which they’d attributed to unnamed sources.)

That’s the problem with Cain. No Axelrod. Why would we want to elect a guy who doesn’t have a dump truck of bullshit at the ready?
Yes.
At least, according to the people on “our side.”
Rush has been awesome on this today.
Umm, correction? Why the fuck not RETRACTION?!
We should save all these depressing posts for the evening because then I can at least have a drink.
Please, people, remember to button.
“Umm, correction? Why the fuck not RETRACTION?!”
It’s who they are, were, and will continue to be.

Ace says second settlement for $45,000.
He’s been secretly reading my Twitter feed, Ernst.
I had this battle last night. The most intentionally recalcitrant people on this? Perry supporters. Not all of them, certainly. But the ones most aggressive in attacking Cain don’t know, and refuse to learn about, how these settlements work, from an insurance standpoint, HR standpoint, and legal standpoint (with respect to confidentiality agreements, sealed records, and the accused’s knowledge of any of that).
It’s despicable. And depressing as hell.
Yes. Included severance pay, Joe. Those two things are different.
Good for you both if that’s the case Jeff.
Just heard on the radio that the NRA is considering releasing the woman from the confidentiality agreement. Interesting that they wouldn’t consider doing so for Cain (at least according to something I read somewhere).
Well, I muses, this is the fight in public today . . . so clinging as hard as I can to what little optimism I can muster, maybe, just maybe, this fight will end in changing the grounds — even if only one step changed — of our politics for the better. Christ that sounds dumb, huh? But isn’t it up to us to do?
I know Jeff. I thought Ace’s justification was more interesting than the link to Politico. Ace kind of reminds me of Judge Smails.
It was the Richard Miniter piece in Forbers, Ernst.
If they release the woman, it’s a he said/she said, with the woman who’d been drinking to get the benefit of the doubt, we’ve been conditioned to believe.
My suspicion is Cain was a perfect gentlemen. But that her waking up in his suite made work going forward quite uncomfortable.
But the truth is, I don’t know a damn thing, and no one ever will. There were no criminal charges, and no trial.
I think the real story is she drank, passed out on the couch, and he covered her with a blanket.
Maybe he removed her shoes or something.
Well Cain’s critics want to know, are you for goodness or badness? Don’t you want to be good?
In: “Please fix my tea, Ms.” Out: “Mmm. Want to put you on a plate and SOP YOU UP with a BISCUIT!”
I Cain needs to stress that he’ll never let a fat chick suck his cock in the Oval Office.
that should be: I think Cain …
The problem is, people who don’t have ill intent sometimes have a hard time imagining what people with ill intent would think.
This issue is driving a wedge between me and many opinion shapers on the right. I guess it had to be something. Their worldview is at odds with mine, so it’s only natural that their conclusions are not ones I would reach.
Eh, I waste too much time on the internet as it is.
– I think the real story is this piece of crap political hit job is going south faster than Joy Bahar’s tit’s.
Cain never left a staffer to drown in a submerged Oldsmobile either, as far we know.
I don’t look at your time as wasted cranky-d, on account of the benefits I get from your time more or less for free, to put it crudely.
Cain has never been called a Crazed Sex Poodle by a hotel masseuse.
For what it’s worth, I had lunch today with 4 very political types, Democrats all. To a man, they agreed with my assertion that the story is total bullshit, and an obvious hit job. The out-of-towner mentioned that the people
in CNN Hellat the airport yesterday were in similar agreement. My fervent desire is that Cain uses this to punch back twice as hard against the whisperers in the various campaigns and the know-nothings in the media, and stands atop their corpses at the Convention. Don’t know if I’d bet money on it, but hope springs eternal.
Internet Ref calls a 15-yard penalty on BBH. Personal foul, unnecessary imagery requiring excessive mindbleach.
I’m listening to the Rush clip right now. He definitely reads your twitter feed.
I’m just going to toss this in here. Not necessarily on topic, but not necessarily off, either:
If you read just one alternate/future history this year, read “World War Z”. If you already read that, or want to read another, pick up Adam Yoshida’s “The Blast of War”. It’s definitely written by a righty for a righty audience (Senator Mark Steyn of Newhampshire?), but it’s well done, and an easy and enjoyable read.
Terrifying as hell, too, but what do you expect from a book that posits Obama winning a second term?
Hi! I’m popping my PW cherry with this post.
I have to say that the biggest problem with the Cain deal is that he isn’t a polished little political gem. He’s raw. He doesn’t have overbearing handlers. I don’t know how this will all pan out. But, at this point, I don’t see a huge deal. I can’t say I’m a big supporter of Herb’s, but I just simply can’t stand the piling on when no one knows yet what happened.
..and, yes..race has a dickload to do with this
Bluntly put: if Republicans do not stop stabbing each other in the back long enough to take on the real enemy of their party and of this nation, THE PRESS, then we will deserve what we get.
At this point I don’t support any of them (but dislike Romney and think Huntsman is a stalking horse), but oppose all of their common opponents. If only the candidates would do the same…
Part of the problem, I think, is that they’re all convinced that whoever wins the R primary is guaranteed to win the general. They aren’t looking towards having to pick a VP and actually run against the Chicago Machine Gone National (plus some international bits). So they’re not just fighting dirty, they’re fighting STUPID DIRTY.
Thank you, sdferr. Most of the time I just snark, but I am really ticked off by what’s happening right now. I’m not even a Cainiac, I just think he appears to be a decent, highly-accomplished man, the kind we say we want to be in politics, and yet so many are trying to rid themselves of him by any means necessary.
It’s disgusting.
From out of Rush’s monologue I landed on Block’s mention of the Perry camp yesterday as an example of the good that comes of naming names, as opposed to the anonymity game the Press and standard politicians play. It’s messy, yes, but honest, even while the information is merely partial. “Here’s the dope we’ve got, take it for what it’s worth” in a sense. The leak game is prominent at the heart of our corruption.
– Don’t know Squid, but Cain was already polling higher with each passing day before GolddiggerGate, and now he’s doing even better.
– Somehow I doubt this is what the rats that started this envisioned.
Glad to have you, beedubya!
– I think the real story is this piece of crap political hit job is going south faster than Joy Bahar’s tit’s.
Nonsense…the CERN sciencytists have determined that it was Behar’s titty-sagging and not certain neutrinos that might have exceeded the speed of light.
E=Behar’s titty mass x the dropping credibility of the MFM
Welcome, beedubya.
Was it good for you, too?
Politico’s BREAKING STORY on blogn00b harassment in 5… 4… 3…
Thanks for the welcome, but WTF??…not even a pie or muffins?
I don’t really know what the climate is here, but here goes anyway..if it’s Romney,I’m sitting it out. I honestly think he would be worse than Ogabe.
Mittens has no clue about what it would take to turn the economy around. That is not his mindset. He would surround himself with the same people he has all through his career in business and politics. Mittens is all about Mittens
“Thanks for the welcome, but WTF??…not even a pie or muffins?”
– Welllllll, there’s a rumor that a certain armored rodent may make a “dancing with the rats” appearance. You’ll have to stick around ’til Friday to find out.
– No details are available since everyone has signed a PW nondisclosure agreement.
I would submit that what we’re seeing now is the major reason we have “professional politicians” in the first place. Grinning amoral and unethical hacks with skin as thick as a rhinoceros make the cut after the usual suspects in the MSM (and elsewhere) viciously flense the people I might actually like to vote for.
Yup, mojo.
But what’s so disappointing is how many people spent the last year or two talking about the need to break from the status quo. Only to mock Cain for not being polished like a status quo candidate.
And it just rolls off them.
Implied Scenario from Initial PJM report: “And she woke up the next morning, in his bed, with his huge negro cock right next to her, possibly poking her in the ass. Sources are unclear whether or not it was fully erect and throbbing, but one can only assume. You know how those people are.”
Implied Scenario from Updated PJM report: “Rather than let her stagger about the streets aimlessly, Mr. Cain invited the woman up to his multiroom suite, and allowed her to pass out on his couch. He may have offered her a blanket and a pillow.”
Thank god we have an alternative media, they’re so much more responsible and even-handed than the MSM!
Thanks for the welcome, but WTF??…not even a pie or muffins?
You’re welcome to some bourbon, but you’ll have to fight the armadillo and the dolphin in a peacoat for it.
http://ace.mu.nu/archives/323342.php This Ace story is interesting. And no one can accuse him of favoring any candidate…well except Perry.
Yup. And many of the same are saying the Cain campaign is amateurish because they don’t follow the rules. Well eff them rules. Where have them rules gotten us?
Stay away from the cheetos and the funyuns though. You got to earn them.
The Romney supporters use his business success as proof that he’d be great for the economy. Bullshit!
Let me say this first. I’m as big a capitalist pig as the next, but I have the opinion of capitalism (Which we really don’t have anyway. We’re corporatist) as Churchill had of democracy. It does have its downsides. Mittens did nothing but exploit those seams. He basically made his hundreds of millions by firing people.
He made money whether the businesses he was involved with at Bain Capital succeeded wildly or failed miserably. He never had any skin in the game. It was never his money on the line.
He never, ever did anything as businessman or governor to improve the business climate for the economy as a whole. He did the exact opposite. Mittens see the US economy as something for him and his establishment buddies to exploit (again, that’s part of capitalism), and that certainly does not translate to changing the current anti-business paradigm
flense
Oooh! Nice word. Gives me chills.
The carrion eaters are part of the circle of life too.
Mittens see the US economy as something for him and his establishment buddies to exploit
As long as they’re not using the levers of gubmint power to do it, someone else can always take them out after they get too big and slow.

Hakuna matata. But, the carrion eaters are just that…and they stick with other carrion eaters.
They don’t know anything else
…and so are dung beetles
That’s it John Bradley.
