And by “fuzzy,” I of course mean, “Jesus, does this fucking moron have even the first idea how a market economy works? Or does she think money just magically appears by way of sweetheart deals and IPO tipoffs?” “Pelosi: Extending Unemployment Benefits Would Create ‘600,000 Jobs’”:
House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said that extending unemployment benefits would add “600,000 jobs to our economy.”
She also said that the money from unemployment benefits creates a “safety net” for the U.S. economy because it “injects demand into the economy — creating jobs.”
“Christmas is 10 days away,” said Pelosi at a press briefing on Capitol Hill today. “The president and Democrats in Congress have been very clear. We’re not going home without enacting a payroll tax cut for America’s working families and extending unemployment insurance for millions of Americans.”
“The payroll tax cut that the president proposed would put $1,500 in the pockets of 160 million Americans,” she said. “The unemployment insurance extension is not only good for individuals. It has a macroeconomic impact. As macroeconomic advisers have stated, it would make a difference of 600,000 jobs to our economy.”
Pelosi did not name those “macroeconomic advisers.” She continued: “Again this is important because this is about the safety net not just for these individuals, but for our economic system that, in times of unemployment, we have a safety net and that is important.”
“Again, [not only] a safety net for individuals, but a safety net for the economy,” she said, “and again this money when received is immediately spent, it’s urgently needed, and injects demand into the economy, creating jobs.”
Meaning, of course, that the absolute BEST way to get the economy motoring is to fire everyone, so that everyone can collect unemployment, which they’d then immediately spend, driving the economy.
Sure, where they’d spend it — and on what — is a concern: after all, with everyone out of work, there’s no place to go to spend all that money that the government is giving out (and, ultimately, no more money for the government to give out, given that there’s no longer any businesses from which to collect tax revenues to redistribute); but then that’s just heartless nitpicking from extremist Grinches who want to steal Christmas!
Incidentally: will some intrepid reporter maybe ask Ms Pelosi about the Social Security lockbox? I mean, if Social Security is paid for by each of us — and paid exclusively through our payroll taxes — isn’t insisting on a payroll tax cut tantamount to insisting that we NOT fund Social Security retirement accounts?
And if so, why does Nancy Pelosi want to push grandma off a cliff?
I’m tired of talking economics to liberals. All I get is that bewildered dog look.
They’re not going to respond with any honesty, or facts, so what’s the point? “Leave me and mine alone or I’ll kill you” seems to be all the talking necessary.
Why say it’ll only create 600,000 jobs? Why not say it’ll create eleventy billion jobs?
She’s just making shit up anyway – might as well go big with it.
Of course.
What pitiful Pelosi and the White House can’t think is the answer to the question “Why? Why would Medicare wither on the vine?”, even as they concede the likelihood.
But, perhaps to his credit, Ron Wyden can think the answer: It would wither on the vine because the people would choose something better, something more efficient and delivering the services at less cost, chosen because it’s better, better because of competition and because it isn’t dooming the nation to bankruptcy.
It will save at least that many.

It’s very safe to say that the Minority Idiot of the House came up with her number by learning how many REAL jobs are waiting to start immediately upon approval of various pipelines and fracking operations around the Northeast and Midwest, and then adding a factor of x.
Of course Pelosi’s state has the market cornered on the “Great Job Creator” and would hate to lose her standing to grubby and icky stimulators like shale, welding and bolt-turning.
And they said Hillary was the smartest woman ever……
How old is SanFran Nan? Can we see her medical records? Perhaps she has early onset Alzeimer’s.
Good Lord.
I’m embarrassed to be from CA
Nancy Pelosi
Maxine Waters
Loretta Sanchez… just for giggles check out Loretta’s support testimony for the $43B high speed rail to nowhere (Starting with Bakersfield to Chowchilla) boondoggle.
Listen to this, then google Loretta Sanchez on high speed rail and see how the media scrubbed her incoherent inaccurate nonsense and makes her sound reasonable

You forgot Barbara Boxer, SteveG.
Dummerer than a sack of Oliver Willises. And that is one big sack of dumb.
I was sticking to the loons in the House.
But I agree.
The House is hopeless.
But my point is the media scrubs the nonsense compare the audio I linked to this:

They boil Sanchez’ babble down to: High speed rail is a needed alternative to congested freeways.
Really?
She is too stupid to ever form a cogent sentence; she makes shit up
Just like Pelosi.
Pelosi says 600,000 jobs and the media dupes just nod sagely and translate her stupidity into something that looks possible.
They boil Sanchez’ babble down to: High speed rail is a needed alternative to congested freeways.
You’d think that the solution to congested freeways would be more (or bigger, or faster) freeways.
I mean, when you have a blocked artery, they’ll attempt to unclog it via whatever methods are currently available, and if necessary graft on a bypass. They won’t surgically implant a toaster oven, or something equally unrelated to the actual problem.
At least, not at the better hospitals.
Here in Georgia, the state is trying to come up with ways to fund transpo projects in metro Atlanta without raising taxes on people who don’t live or work in metro Atlanta.
First they imposed a toll of sorts on what used to be the HOV lane, which has been less popular than New Coke and actually reduced the usage of the lane. Then there was a proposal to build a new, reversible toll lane to help with the commute flow. That idea has the advantage over the HOT lane and New Coke of being killed before it was implemented.
They’d have enough money for these projects, I think, if the money raised for transportation purposes were spent on roads instead of bike trails and greenbelts.
We had the same problem when I lived in Pittsburgh, PA. The city is actually quite easy to get around in since there are trains that run above ground and also under downtown with a lot of convenient stations. There are buses that are not expensive and go to the further flung areas and cabs, licensed and gypsy cabs galore. Also, bike trails, green belts and (I’m blanking on what they are called) the elevator car/train car things that travel up and down the sides of the slopes.
Did any of that stop the city fathers from trying like hell to build light rail to the suburbs? No. Did each and every one of those proposals get shot down? Yes. If you lined up all the dollars that were used to study these proposed train routes and their “savings” we’d all be a lot richer.
That’s “eleventy bajillion.”
The one in Chattanooga is called the Incline Railway, which probably works as a generic descriptor.
In related news: unnamed theoretical alchemy advisors, after long consultation with unnamed mechanical artificer advisors, have assured Pelosi that unlimited green energy via perpetual motion is right around the corner!
That’s it, McGehee. They are called Inclines in Pittsburgh, too.
You’d sit on it and pull the trigger? Will there be video?
“If I had a rocket launcher…”
Oh noes…
Thorsmommawasaman.
Pelosi’s fuzzy pussy, redux.
Jeff, is it actually back? Hammerboi never learns.
generic descriptor
Or even funicular.
I almost called it a funicular, but wasn’t quite sure.
