Time to declare war on the War on Poverty?

I guess it depends: are you fighting to war to win it? Or are you fighting the war in order to perpetuate the need to fight it — and in so doing, solidifying your own prospects as a poverty fighter?

Until the kinds of morons currently “occupying Wall Street” wake up to the fact that it is government intervention in the markets — combined with a ludicrous “progressive” tax structure — that are prime contributors to economic stagnation, they’ll continue to serve as useful idiot foot soldiers for the very marauders they presume to be agitating against.

As I told one such moron this morning, if you wanted to make yourself useful you could join TEA Partiers in calling for a flat or fair tax, and for reining in the unelected (but politically left) bureaucrats presuming to rule us by dicate.

I’m not holding my breath. Though I probably should, given the nature of the company.

Everyone who gets on the back of the Federal tiger thinks that when they ride it they are in control. Some continue to do so as the jaws close on their neck. “Stupid is as stupid does.”

C’mon, Jeff. Poverty is BIG business in this country. Just depends on how you define “business.”

Stephen Hayward made a very fine post on F.A. Hayek’s The Constitution of Liberty and Hayek’s 1961 prefiguring of ObamaCare among other bureaucratically administrative delights of the socialists today.

And from Noemie Emery, a takedown: Overrated

For a success, Barack Obama is a very bad politician, the worst politician to win the presidency by an electoral landslide, to never lose a major election, or to rise to the presidency from a state legislature in little more than four years. He has gone from sterling campaigner to put-upon leader; from the new FDR to the next Jimmy Carter; from being the orator who could hold millions spellbound to the man who moves no one at all. The man who promised everything is delivering nothing. Journalists who wept when he won the election now grind their teeth in despair. Maureen Dowd admits he isn’t the one for whom even he had been waiting. The gap between sizzle and steak never seemed so large or alarming, and inquiring minds want to know what went wrong.
