An ATF source has provided reporters a copy of a letter sent on June 1, 2010 which indicates that the monumental scandal known as ‘Project Gunwalker,’ or ‘Operation Fast and Furious,’ was never a sting operation as previously reported. If such an allegation is true, then the official Obama Administration explanation for the operation is entirely false.
The commonly-reported talking point concerning Gunwalker is that it was intended as a sting operation but that it went bad when rogue ATF agents took it in a sinister direction.
But the letter of June 2010, forwarded to reporters David Codrea and Mike Vanderboegh, indicates that nothing about the operation contained any of the elements of a ‘sting.’ Everything ATF agents did in placing guns into the hands of Mexican drug cartels was done in the open and with the approval of their supervisors […]

The ramifications of this revelation are explosive, particularly for those working with the Issa committee in the U.S. House of Representatives in investigating the scandal. […]

These revelations place the investigation into Gunwalker in an entirely different light. This is no longer about a ‘sting operation gone bad’ but a deliberate, sinister attempt to manipulate gun statistics in Mexico for political gain.
Further, CBS News has issued several stinging reports over the past few days that cast even more dark shadows over the ATF Fast and Furious operation. The NRA’s Wayne LaPierre granted an interview in which he stated that Gunwalker was never intended to become public knowledge and that when it did go public the cover-up undertaken by the Administration was massive. In addition, secret tapes recently made public show that ATF officials considered the agent who blew the whistle on the agency’s illegal operation to be ‘toxic.’
But perhaps the most damning evidence of all was a secret audio revealed by CBS News which shows that ATF officials considered the murder of Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry with the guns the agency gave to cartels to be mere ‘collateral damage.’
Let me be blunt: what we are dealing with here is the slowly emerging revelation — backed by an increasingly substantive collection of (as of now) circumstantial evidence — that our own government, at the behest of the current President and its Justice Department ideologues, was actively and intentionally working to undermine the Second Amendment for the purposes of neutering it and, one can argue, ultimately marginalizing it in much the same way they’ve marginalized the Ninth and Tenth Amendments.
This was an active and deliberate attack on the US Bill of Rights.
Kudos to CBS for keeping to the investigation. But were there any real justice left in this country, major newspapers would be leading with this (and other) scandals daily: Obama’s promise of “fundamental transformation” was something he took seriously, and it appears he’s been willing to work around the “flawed document” that is our Constitution in order to achieve his ends.
It’s a direct attack on America and Americans by a community organizer handed the reins of what he believes is near absolute power.
And we need to insist he and his henchman (starting with Holder) need to be held to account.
Can someone explain to me how this entire administration does not meet the definition of “domestic enemy” under the oath of citizenship, military oath, and any oath of office?
I wonder how well the Obama Administration’s balls-deep involvement in this will play with the Hispanic community?
Hate to say this Jeff, but 5 years ago, I was just a blogger. I then got my concealed weapons permit from the State of Florida, which if you listen to the anti-gun people out there, hand them out like raffle tickets at a St. Mary of the Crippled Child fundraiser.
Nothing could be further from the truth.
When I finally realized the horror that is the treatment of the 2nd Amendment, that’s when I turned into a gun-blogger.
Welcome to my world. A world where accidentally being withing a millionth of inch too close to an imaginary line makes me a felon for life. Where even an *empty brass casing* can get you thrown into jail in various states if you don’t have a permit. And where Gunwalker is simply the next big thing in a long line of attempts to disarm the populace, both figuratively and literally.
What good is a gun if you’re programmed that you cannot use it because you might be using the wrong type of bullet or within 10,000 ft. of a fire station or bus stop?
Normally, however, the gov’t isn’t so obvious as to their goals. One would think that such revelations would make getting a special prosecutor easy. Sadly at this point, us gunnies don’t think much will happen here. There’s always hope, though.
If F&F, Solyndra and LightSquared were NOT real impeachable scandals, the MSM would lead with them and debunk them immediately.
This is how we now tell what the hard news is.
Go Darryl Issa.
Darn these politics.
Gee, how unexpected…
Oh, and “follow the money”.
“ATF officials considered the murder of Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry with the guns the agency gave to cartels to be mere ‘collateral damage.’”
That statement, to me, is monstrous.
They put a gun to that mans chest and pulled the trigger. They could of saved the taxpayers a lot of money if they just did it themselves and lied. Instead of selling the gun to some Mexican thug and then lying.
Who’s going down for this?
I asked my Team R Rep. this question. No reply.

I’m trying to reserve final judgement until more facts are in, but they might just cover up the facts. The whole thing sure is a clusterfrak, though. Also, I really find it hard to believe in the official story, since if that story were true then there are a lot of incredibly incompetent people all along the chain, as in mind mind-numbingly, cannot tie their shoes, cannot feed themselves incompetent.
From the letter Supervisor Voth sent to the arms dealer
Translation: Illegally selling and transporting restricted firearms is one thing; but we are ABSOLUTELY NOT going to get on the wrong side of the Hillary’s Violence Against Women Act.
Obama is to Presidents what Kimbo Slice was to mixed martial arts.
if that story were true then there are a lot of incredibly incompetent people all along the chain, as in mind mind-numbingly, cannot tie their shoes, cannot feed themselves incompetent.
Whether they’re incompetent depends entirely on what they were aiming to do in the first place.
Also, have you ever worked for the gubmint? Because if you have, you’d never have trouble believing in (a) staggering incompetence in the ranks or (b) jaw-dropping stupidity in the decision matrices.
Gubmint workers don’t have to match their actions to any reality beyond the political one: no bottom line, no customer satisfaction, no ROI.
So what are your reservations again?
