An idea whose time has come:

“Pay federal workers not to do their jobs.”

One addendum I’d make to the plan: create a special “federal workers paid not to work” tax set at, say, 50% at the top rate — call it a “paying our fair share tax” — with that revenue sequestered and earmarked for constitutionally required functions of the federal government, be it military preparedness, or a really really really bitchin’ next census, with like, laser light shows and a Dokken soundtrack and shit.

Oh. And deem those those federal workers paid not to work satellite residents of DC, and therefore prohibit them from participating in local and state elections.

#WTF!

ok, it’s an interesting idea via a long-term severance package. But it’s premised on racism — ZOMG layoffs in the Fed will disproportionately affect teh womyn’s and minorities! So let’s just bribe ’em out of the way.

Severance ’em based on seniority – worked for the Feds for 10 years? get severance pay over the next 10 years.
