"72% Favor Free Market Economy Over One Managed by the Government"

Rasmussen.

What this means, of course, is that the GOP establishment will angle toward big government socialism. To win over all those moderates and independents who represent the important quarter of the electorate that really decides elections.

Pragmatism.

And the lefties will simply dismiss this as so much propaganda by OberGruppenFuhrerMcPollster Shcott Rasmussen.

Seriously, how many flags need to be hoisted before they get a clue?

WJC has “moved on” and prays on his 20 pound Bible that all his skeletons and other assorted body parts remain safely buried in the back forty behind his enormous trailer.

    Just one flag, Bob.

  5. dicentra says:

    Only 72%???

how many flags need to be hoisted before they get a clue?

Which clue are they supposed to get? That murricans don’t want their glorious utopian plans?

Oh, they know THAT. They’ve always known that. What do you think the slow march through the institutions was FOR, if not to break down resistance to their power grab? Without which that 72% would be 99%.

    Clinton nostalgia, catch it!

    Word.

And the sad truth is, it’s working

Speaking obliquely of industry, what we need is a lively debate amongst right-leaning friends on just how cool NASA was and how there is no greater greatness than the greatness granted to Americans by Space Exploration!™. I hear it’s all the rage at conservative sites like PJM and Ace…evidently established during the Cold War, which they’re not but come on.

Because, you know, nothing spells conservative values like impenetrable bureaucracy, gross waste, and a political agenda. Costs? We’re too great to consider costs. Much as we’re too great to consider not doing pointless make-work stuff over incomprehensible distances in a vacuum for zero return. By government.

I hear ya JHo. I can’t help but recall all of the trickle-down benefits of the space program though; at least when they used to, you know, actually engage in real research, development, and science. These days? not so much…

But I fear it’ll be a terrible double-whammy if NASA is exxed at the same time defense dollars for advanced weapons systems are as well. Shades of Carter, my friend, and Billy Jeff’s phony “peace-dividend” excuse to gut the military. At least Reagan was able to revive some of the initiatives Carter dispensed with while the iron was still hot-so to speak…

At a time when our trade surpluses are fueling China’s near-peer force buildup, we can’t really afford to be squandering any more of our technological advantage or strategic initiative-at least in the long run.

    Like Tang, Bob.

  11. Bob Reed says:

Good point Jim, although I admit I was thinking more along the lines of cruise missiles :)

  12. dicentra says:

    NASA?

    As in NASA-GISS?

As in James Hansen, the eco-hysteric who testified before Congress that hydrocarbon combustion was cooling the earth in 1975 and warming it a quarter-century later?

    That NASA?

    Pull the plug already.

  13. Bob Reed says:

Yeah, project Apollo NASA was very impressive indeed, but AGW hysteria NASA? Not.So.Much…

  17. Seth says:

    There, that’s a little punchier.

  18. That means we get free stuff, right?
