Post-post-Edwarsian pragmatism, from Obama:
“Yet even as we speak, there are those who are preparing to divide us, the spin masters and negative ad peddlers who embrace the politics of anything goes. Well, I say to them tonight, there’s not a liberal America and a conservative America  there’s the United States of America. There’s not a black America and white America and Latino America and Asian America; there’s the United States of America.”

Major disagreement within the Party over just how many Americas there are.
I only count one, but that’s a decidedly un-nuanced tally.
I hear some Democrat wonks are working on a concept called “string politics” in which they propose there are actually up to 11 Americas.
The other big fad is “fractal politics”, which allows there to be a non-integral number of Americas.
They can be sorted in accordance with various parameters, but ultimately there are as many Americas as there are Americans.
I’m suddenly reminded of the “No True Scot” paradox in philosophy. Unfortunately, I didn’t pay too much attention in intro to philosophy, so I don’t really remember how it goes. But basically, the correct conclusion would be that there are zero Americas.
Either that, or America is full of Scotsmen. One of the two.
