Atkins hesitation, 8

For those interested, I’ve lost about 16 lbs. in the month or so since I began cutting down on carbs.  Which is pretty impressive, considering my lunch today consisted of a good-sized piece of Cripple Creek, CO smothered in Monterey Jack cheese and sour cream, and topped with chopped tomatoes and cilantro.  With a side of steamed butter squash and a mutton smoothie.

Trivia:  The United States federal government owns more than 1/3 of the land in Colorado.  More trivia:  The US Department of the Interior:  6,299,827 net carbs; steamed butter squash:  2 net carbs.

I’ll have the steamed butter sqaush then, please.

With just a 64,372 carb slice of the US Department of the Interior. Which happens be my neighbor, but not in Colorado.

  2. How are the constant heart attacks? Annoying?

They burn calories, what with all the clutching and rolling around.

My cholesterol has dropped 87 pts, actually.  Thank Zocor.

Don’t tell me you gave up the Guinness.

  5. Jeff Goldstein says:

Nope. I have Guinness every night. And on Fridays I have pizza.

Nothing strict about my diet.  Just cut down considerably on the non-Guinness carbs.

Incidentally, much of that Colorado land is sitting on a lake of oil shale, which, if retorted into crude, would amount to about as much petroleum reserves as Saudi Arabia.

  7. That same oil shale can be converted to a vast mountain of carbs to feed the teeming masses, if you’re feeling Pohl-ish.

Another view of the Atkins diet… in case you’re looking for such things.  I found that once I got past the absurdities (super-sized Crisco/bacon fat “milk” shakes and the like), it was easy enough to deal with, and easy enough to leave behind when I was done with it.

But I’ve missed out on the clutching and rolling around exercise, so perhaps I stopped too soon.
