No, it’s, uh, far more confusing even than all that!
Trans men have abortions. Gender queer people have abortions. Two spirit people have abortions. People who do not fit into the box of ‘woman’ have abortions. That’s the reality we live in.
And by “we,” s/he of course means “us/them”.
Or some such.
Damn you, English language, and the pernicious gendered structural demands your divisive binaries place on our/their consciousness(es)!
No, sweetie. Women have babies. Gender bending women have babies. Men do not have babies. Ever.
Your psychosis does not a man with ovaries and a uterus make.
Gee. I never considered abortion a women’s issue either. To me, it’s always been an issue of killing children for profit.
I thought I understood human biology, but now I’m back to confused.
Side note: when two spirit people are pregnant, are they both pregnant or only one? Do they both have to have an abortion or just one (even if they’re both pregnant) and is that abortion a physical abortion or a spirit one … and what does “spirit abortion” even mean?
I don’t know what the outcome of a spirit abortion is, but I DO know that it’s performed with a unicorn horn, and it involves a Leprechaun and a giant straw.
Everywhere it’s
Freaks and hairys
Dykes and fairies
Tell me where is sanity?
— Ten Years After
It seems funny until you realize that they’re making inroads lobbying the academy AP Style Guide, and other influential institutions to have men who have mutilated themselves (or men who “present” as women) called women (and vice versa). You may have thought that the XX and XY chromosomal sex-determination used in the sciences would have been definitive, however it appears that one is now the sex that one claims to be, and saying otherwise is “mean” and will no doubt come to be defined as “hate speech” and therefore forbidden in the coming dystopia. SCIENCE!
men have abortions
….
Umm… of what?
Why, cuz they feel left out?
I’ve had a virtual abortion.
Like, you know, when I had that suspicion that maybe I had inadvertently fathered a child with one of my ex-girlfriend in a pre-breakup session, only to find out, years later, that: no.
I want reparations for all those years of internal anguish.
Two spirit people have abortions.
Right after they eat peyote and commune with the Wolf God.
If some of my multiple personalities are black, do I qualify for AA? Or a Pigford farm settlement?
Actually, Alex, it seems funny because it is. And yes, the academy is a social petri dish of pseudo-intellectual nominalist rapings, but the real fun will come when the squares learn to game the system, too. If you can’t beat ’em, join ’em.
Me, I plan to be female every time I need to shower at the gym I join in Malibu.
“Oh, that? That’s just the raised flag of my surrendered manhood. Why, did it poke you? Right there, near your beautifully landscaped pudenda? Sorry.”
This calls for empirical testing.
I’m going downtown to the Planned Parenthood clinic and I’m walking in and asking for an abortion.
They’re going to say “Umm… what?”
An abortion. Yes.
“Of what?”
Dunno, don’t care. I demand an abortion.
Where I come from, “male abortion” is part of a list of terms that includes “dropping the kids off at the pool.” Somebody should have let Lori in on the joke.
Despite my beard, and my gigantic penis, and my substantially hefty balls, I assure you I am a pretty pretty woman, and I want to excercise my woman’s right to choose.
MY BODY MY CHOICE!
Abortion me!
#10 – thanks for that, I was hoping to finish work today without bursting into loud laughter and having heads pop up over the cubicle walls, wondering what happened to me…
#10 is one of the reasons I’m glad I have a private office.
I never thought about it before, but government funding of Planned Parenthood (read “abortion clinics”) really only goes to women. Isn’t there prohibitions on taxpayer funds being exclusionary?
I WANNA PIECE OF THAT PIE!!!
I’ve heard Limbaugh abort callers. Maybe that’s what they’re talking about?
And I though stuff like this was only in Absurdist literature.
But, having said that, I plan to respond to our brave new world in a manner similar to that Jeff outlined in #10.
Well, at least once, until my wife finds out and
kills meterminates me with extreme prejudice. You know, kind of like an actual abortion, albeit retroactive and such.
Completely off topic but Trump is already talking about an independant run if he doesn’t win the nomination (despite the fact that he’s now leading the polling).
This, I find credible. Because it explains perfectly why a millionare democrat is running for the republican nomination posing as some sort of blue-collar populist arch-reactionary.
Dude could be playing stalking horse for Bambi.
I want to be horrified at the thought of Trump as the republican candidate, but instead it makes me giggle.
Am I a bad person?
You and me both, LBascom.
That so many GOPers are buying into Trump’s game is not really surprising, given what we just saw with this budget compromise. Is it?
XX and XY
Why do we have to recognize these heinous distinctions in the first place? Did any of you consent to your chromosomes? Did any of you have a say in the configuration of your nether regions?
I just don’t see why we have to divide humanity into Those Who Can Bear Children And Those Who Don’t.
You people make me sick.
So now the transtesticled ballsnippers want to have abortions?! This is simply beyond parody. I am a lesbian.
I thought I was pregnant once. But it turned out it was just a large piece of undigested corn beef sandwich. Dayum, that hurt.
“That so many GOPers are buying into Trump’s game is not really surprising, given what we just saw with this budget compromise. Is it?”
Well, I’ve concluded if our next president doesn’t come from outside the beltway, we’re screwed.
We need a Trump, or a Cain or a Palin to break the cycle.
I’d take any of the three over what we got now, in a heartbeat.
This New Age crap is poison to anything resembling common sense, rational thought, or The Enlightenment. Think of all of the nonsense that we’ve had to endure from academia to Al Gore, and every one of those things seems to have its root in New Age crap.
Release the Chakra!
#23:
Why XX and XY? what about the feelings of R, and H, and the long-neglected Q? why can’t those letters be used?
Alphabetist!
#24 JD: Perhaps we can get them to proxy their mother’s abortions? Would that work for you?
I ask because I think it would really work for me.
O_O
Get the fuck outta here! Wiseass.
Actually, I find this concept useful. It’s fun to debate leftist feminists and call them out on their “cissexual privilege” when they try to claim that abortion is only a women’s issue and that men should just shut up. Trans women don’t ever have to deal with reproductive and health issues affecting the uterus, and trans men often do. One of the left’s favorite weapons is accusing everyone else of some kind of privilege and they can’t stand it when others borrow the weapon and point it back at them. Metaphorically speaking.
From the “little hand-grenade with a bad haircut” to the big hand-grenade with a coiffure. Hand-grenade is the key part of the description, a third party presidential run by a billionare is simply a way to throw a hand-grenade into the conservative tent. That announcement is one of extortion by a master of the concept.
Someone else feels the same way. Unfortunately I can’t get the Levin page to open for me right now my ISP seems to be having some problems today.
That’s the reality we live in.
The whole “reality-based community” thing makes a lot more sense now. I should have known that there’s a difference between reality and reality-reality.
I’m skeptical of any comparisons to Ross Perot days. Seems to me it’s like comparing shutting down the government now to when Gingrich did it back then.
I think a third party Trump would have a better chance to take left leaning independents disillusioned by Obama, before he would be able to get in front of the TEA party.
Regardless, it’s a losers game worrying about winning the race instead of running on principles. We’ve seen that…
First, Gingrich didn’t do it. Clinton and the AFL-CIO put the rake on the ground in front of him and Newtie did a perfect Sideshow Bob.
Second, it’s been obvious that Obama and Reid and the rest off to larboard did believe — and still do — that this is 1995-96 repeating itself verbatim. Oddly enough, they’re not taking into account the fact that, Santayanna notwithstanding, sometimes it’s those who do learn from history — but the wrong lessons — that get in trouble.
The whole “reality-based community”
“Community-based reality,” you mean.
geoffb,
The Birthers seem positively giddy about a Trump candidacy.
Hand-grenade, indeed.
“First, Gingrich didn’t do it”
Whatever, the republicans now are terrified if the government is shut down, they will take the blame, and that fear is because of what happened in the ’90’s.
Like the fear now of a third party candidate, because of what happened in ’92.
It doesn’t have to be the Republicans that lose, but that’s what happens when you react in fear instead of leading with principle.
1992 and 1995 are different things. The fear of the government shutdown being portrayed as the fault of Republicans is something that they can get over by the realization that they will be blamed no matter what by the MSM and so must work around and over that bunch.
The 1992 Perot as repeating in the 2012 Trump is something to be taken seriously. I wrote some reasonably nice things about Trump and a few others in an email to Jeff G. just last night before seeing this quote where he threatens to go 3rd party if he doesn’t win the Republican primaries.
That is an extortion attempt. It also says that he doesn’t give a tinkers damn about any principle except his own self aggrandizement. How Obama like. Make me your candidate from the get-go or I take everything down with me and let Obama win.
Fuck that shit.
The government shutdown fear can be worked on by the Tea-Party and conservatives to influence the Party not to worry. A Trump billions fueled 3rd Party run can’t be dealt with by the Tea Party as it is aimed at peeling away those independents who might have been swayed and putting the Republican candidate in the position of having to fend off two separate billion dollar media campaigns.
Principles could be shouted all day and still would be buried below the fold or on an inside back page in all coverage. Let’s pray that if that happens that it is a good aggressive and fearless conservative who is our candidate as any other will be as wallpaper at the ball.
Oh, see, I never took Trump seriously to start with. I really don’t think he’s going to capture the TEA Party’s interest, especially as an independent. I’m probably wrong about him getting any disillusioned lefties, ‘cuz of the birther stink, but I still don’t see him doing a Perot. He’s too much of a loose canon.
First I would like to know how anyone could Alinsky The Donald.
Wait – he’s a vain, materialistic, egotistical, treacherous, petty, mean, tasteless, classless arrogant jerk with a bad combover? You obviously didn’t read his autobiography – he’s also a lecher.
He’s like the ultimate Democrat – he can’t be attacked because he pretends to no virtues and celebrates all vices. And to attack The Donald for his vices would be to attack the foundations of the Democrat Party. He’s like Ted Kennedy with a healthy liver and a lower body count.
They’d have to put together a whole new attack pattern, and that isn’t easy.
