The CBO knows this. Congress knows this. The President knows this.
So ask yourselves: why, if they all know this, is nothing of substance being done to stop it?
On the right, the answer is simple: we’re being led by a spray-painted coward and his carefully appointed lackeys in leadership. But on the left? What’s the end game?
I have an idea what the answer is. And it doesn’t involve the phrase “good man”. At least, not used unironically.
Spit.
I don’t know about you all, but on Twitter, they’re coming up with #BadPromThemes.
Now tell me that doesn’t say America!
I’ve been promised that all the Bad Things will happen to the Bad People, while I and all the Good People point and laugh. So long as I continue to vote for the Good People, this outcome is assured. ‘Cuz there’s just no way the Good People would let Bad Things happen to me!
[…] Jeff asks: The CBO knows this. Congress knows this. The President knows this. […]
I have an idea what the answer is.
I don’t. I’m still chalking up to stupidity what could be attributed to malice.
Do you really think they fancy themselves certain to profit from driving our country through a wall?
They may, or they may not. All bets are off. They may wind up kings or they may wind up in a guillotine, or anywhere between.
Do I think they believe Cloward-Piven is viable, and that they’ll have power and control as a result of robbing the rubes of freedom?
Yes. I do.
I think our current administration is hoping for a Reichstag fire and what they’ll get is a French Revolution.
The right is all talk, Blake.
Sad, but there it is.
Just bus in some protesters and sic the media on us and we’ll cave.
Jeff, if the economy collapses, which is what I expect, it will probably trigger violent unrest.
Once the violence starts, I think it will quickly spiral out of control.
Progressives are playing with something they think they can control to their own ends. Progressives are sadly mistaken.
I’m not expecting people to start anything until TSHTF.
The fiscal trainwreck the US is heading for is going to be ugly and everyone currently in office should be scared witless at the prospect of financial collapse.
Unfortunately, DC and a lot of statehouses are so insulated from the general population, they believe “it cannot happen to them.”
Progressives refuse to learn that political violence is as old as recorded history. Progressives also mistake the thin veneer of civilization we currently have for change in basic human nature.
The problem I see is that outside of a relatively small cadre of leftists, the larger, outer core of liberalism is composed of people who require that change be on simmer in order to maintain their cognitive dissonance. So along with the right wing “I told you so’s,” anything in the vein of a Cloward-Piven doomsday would be quite the test of whether most “private sector” liberals are more committed to their pseudo-ideals or their venti mocha frappuccinos. And I think I already know the answer to that one.
Jeff, if the economy collapses, which is what I expect, it will probably trigger violent unrest.
I know I’ve mentioned this before, but I try to divide my energy between preventing and preparing for the coming collapse. I’m still hoping for a turnaround in the 2012 elections that can pull us out of this nosedive, but I’m quickly reaching the point where water filters and target practice take priority over campaign activities.
…everyone currently in office should be scared witless…
Halfway there already!
The trouble with those who are witless by default is, they’re not capable of constructive fear.
Portugal’s prime minister asked for austerity measures to save the country from a bailout. The Portuguese parliament refused. Now Portugal is really in the crapper.
The current joke is:
Q. What’s the difference between Portugal and the US?
A. Six months.
There is no Right. Just Left Light. And most of the useful idiots I know who are die-hard Dems really believe the half-baked manure (love that smell! Like fresh bread in the morning!)they parrot. Progressive MO: play on emotion, play on guilt, play on empathy…it’s Madison Avenue polemics. Every PR and Ad pro knows that the best way to make a sale is meld emotional and rational appeals. And the rational appeal can be as weak as a wine cooler. It just gives a person permission to say ‘yes.’
SW – helluva a few days of Futbol recently. Schalke’s win was a bit of a surprise, and Manchester’s win over Chelsea surprised me. barcelona looked really strong, as did RM.
JD,
Best part of Champs League is this knockout stage. Did you catch Stankovic’s goal for Inter? Schalke were unbelievable to come back. Fat ladies, operas, etc.
I wonder if The Special One’s Real Madrid will claim another title; this isn’t the best side to ever turn out in white.
Get back to the pool and goat curry, you ragamuffin.
So why is Trump tied with Huckabee in the 1st loser slot of a GOP primary poll? Even if the poll is the usual poorly constructed, dumbass-weighted mess of which we are familiar, how does that one work?
I kind of understand the Romney thing; the desire for competence and fiber-optic hair is strong in some parts. …But Chuckabee or Trumpnip?
I must have moved to Crazy Town and been slipped some crazy juice at my last Crazy Assholes Anonymous meeting.
“So why is Trump tied with Huckabee”
name recognition mostly
Oh dear god, I finally figgured out you people are talking about soccer.
The only game that makes less sense than cricket.
They voted for each other.
“They voted for each other.”
McGhehee FTW!!!
