"US paves way to arm Libyan rebels"

So. Our President’s answer to fighting the War on Terror? Stress “diversity,” refuse to name the actual threat, back the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt, cede sovereignty to the UN and the Arab League, then arm (at least some) al Qaeda member in Libya.

Potential outcome? The Muslim Brotherhood controls the transport of oil and helms a US-trained and armed military; al-Qaeda takes over 2% of the world’s oil, the proceeds from which they will use to wage their war on the US and its interests; and our only true ally in the region is surrounded and must daily deal with an actual existential threat.

Question: can’t anybody here play this game? Besides Arab extremists, I mean?

From what I am seeing Qadaffi is getting his wishes answered.

Didn’t Reagan get criticized a lot for arming the mujaheddin in Afghanistan? I mean, that was against the Soviets and not a crazy hat-wearing dictator, but still…

Never mind. New boss, old boss, different standards apply. Never mind.

At some point, harsh criticism is going to have to be put on the table. White guilt or no white guilt.

Let’s not go overboard, al. Perhaps gentle criticism will do for starters.

“You’re either with us or against us” takes on a whole new meaning in the progressive/socialist Mirrorverse.

Are they going to funnel them in through the ATF?

Obambi can send them all the fireworks he wants, at best it will not change a thing.

Without a proper organization and command structure, or -especially- properly trained and highly disciplined front line troops there is simply no way the rebels will ever force the loyalists from their urban positions. Imagine the siege of Fallujah if conducted by amateurs – a Chinese fire drill with bloody consequences.

At worst it will encourage the rebels to employ their new fireworks in indiscriminate or reckless manner, thereby causing the very civilian casualties our involvement was -ostensibly- intended to prevent. Behold the tyranny of good intentions!

    This is an interesting theory:

Is there something that President Obama is not telling us? Is it possible that we have a greater vested interest in squashing Gaddafi’s belligerence than we are letting on? Could it be that Gaddafi’s reported threats to bomb his country’s oilfields lit the fuse under the leaders of France and Britain who all but shamed us into climbing aboard? Or was it Gaddafi’s prediction that a flood of immigrants would “swamp” Europe that aroused Sarkozy’s energies?

It is possible that the U.S. is more vulnerable to chaos in Libya than is generally known. Our economic recovery is hanging by a thread — a thread which weaves through the EU and also through Asia

I think the all purpose answer to everything this administration does from now on is 2012.

Nothing is going to stop a flood of refugees from heading for southern Europe. It will be the remnants of whatever side ultimately loses.

Although, having AQ operating directly from some Mediterranean ports, a veritable skip and a jump from Malta and Sicily, will be something of a moment of clarity for much of Europe.

Kepi Blancs back in North Africa? How’s that for a time warp?

Given the huge disparity in population growth rates for the Muslim world, and, well, the rest of us, the ONLY bright spot here is that Muslims are being killed.

Denounce me if you want, but I’ve reached the point where I feel that we need to start wasting these fuckers by the boatload, regardless of their desires/beliefs/activities, if we are to leave our grandchildren with any hope at all. Harsh, but There It Is.
