Atkins hesitation, 2

Today’s lunch: bacon-wrapped mutton, deep fried in American cheese oil and topped with a very rare T-bone steak. With a side of steamed carrots.

And yeah, I’m beginning to have my doubts, too.

    Ya, those carrots’ll kill ya.

Only good for rabbits, says I.

  3. Tman says:

I don’t think anyone hates steamed carrots more than I.

    I hatesses them I do…..

You have a recipe for that bacon-wrapped mutton?  That sounds good.  And what are your thoughts on substituting pepperoni pizza grease for the American cheese oil?

  5. Jeff – you get my e-mail(s)?

  6. atkins’ and his ‘diet’ have generated more revenue since his fat ass died than his previous lifetime.  when will overweight people understand that they’re being taken for a ride, paying a premium for food that doesn’t help them lose weight and maintain the loss?

worst sign of atkins’ getting out of control: Coca Cola C2 selling 8 cans for 50 cents more than a 12 cans of normal coke.

  7. James Joyner says:

Definitely lay off the carrots man–loaded with carbs.

  8. You left out the rich, creamery butter.

  9. mamamontezz says:

Slice those carrots thin, then when they’re almost steamed just right, dump the water, drop in some butter, and sautee them a quick minute.

    Mmmmmm…Carrot-licious.

Say what?  I lost 80 lbs – and have kept it off, too.  With no difference in my grocery budget, to boot.

I stick by my carrots remark, too.  Not that they’re bad for you… but Bugs Bunny notwithstanding: ick.

Go Atkins! I lost 55 lbs over a one year time. Gained about 10 of that back and stayed the same ever since (4 years now).

  12. Mike F says:

T-bones are rare where you are? We’ve got them aplenty in San Antonio.

  13. Dave says:

Heck, I lost 40 pounds on it so far.  As for ‘C2’… they made a nice try, but at 2.5 servings per 20-oz bottle and 12 carbs from sugar per serving, that’s still almost 30 per 20-oz.  Which, y’know, is just a little bit huge.

For that matter… since when is 8 ounces of any soft drink a reasonable ‘serving size’?
