Scenes from my driveway, continued x 22

Deadbeat neighbor: “So, is it true they cut that guy’s head off, the civilian?”*

Me: “Yup.”*

Deadbeat neighbor: “And then posted pictures of his body on the internet?”

Me: “That’s what I hear, yeah.”

Deadbeat neighbor: “Christ, I bet this opens up a real hornet’s nest here at home, you think?”

Me: “Nope. Not unless the terrorists put a pair of women’s panties on his head before they sawed it off. In which case, watch out, evil doers! Terry Moran just might track you down and kick your asses himself.”

****
update: Paul Johnson’s purported killer has himself been killed, Reuters is reporting. FOXNews is reporting that Abdulaziz al-Muqrin and two associates were killed in a shootout with Saudi forces while trying to dispose of Paul Johnson’s body.

update 2: Stephen Green writes, “Looking for the Paul Johnson video? You’ll find this one more informative. It shows how our enemies treat each other. Doesn’t take much imagination to figure out what they’d do to us, given the chance.”

had a day to think about and find myself still seething, update: I think you should read this.

  1. Remind me not to move into YOUR neighborhood.

  2. Jeff G says:

I play nights in the Spanish part of town

I’ve got music in my hands

The work is hard to find

But that don’t get me down

    Rosalinda understands

  3. DakRoland says:

Sad thing is, I think Jeff is right on the money.

  4. Actually, the thing that I like about Deadbeat Neighbor is that he seems to be making some sort of effort (however sporadic) to actually be up to speed on the various goings on in the world.

Better than some of the folks I see holding forth with weighty opinions.

  5. David Gillies says:

Makes you wonder how long Paul Johnson has been dead.

  6. Like any American these days, he was dead the moment he fell into the hands of these animals.

  7. Scott R. says:

I found it interesting that while Johnson was alive the Saudis police demonstrated all the competence of the Keystone cops, but two hours after he’s ritually slaughtered they suddenly transform into a squad of Columbos.

The Arabs get a dead infidel, the Americans get dead terrorists, and the House of Saud, once again, gets a pass.

  8. Like any American these days, he was dead the moment he fell into the hands of these animals.

Do you mean the CIA or the Mossad? Oh, I really need to check DU more often.

  9. G. Hamid says:

That was a really bitter-sweet post.

I hope you and your neighbor keep talking.

  10. Meanwhile back at home, the US Secret Police rounded up a dozen posters to DU during midnight raids. The Bush administration offered no comment on the detentions, noting that the US does not have a secret police force.

  11. jmflynny says:

It there nothing to which a troll won’t attach himself? Bejeezus!

  12. Velociman says:

Yes, well, when it comes to the convenience and timing of the Saudis one can only say “C’est un Stradivarius!”

  13. Nathan says:

Hey, I’m beginning to suspect –merely suspect, mind you– that this “Deadbeat Neighbor” is merely a narrative device that allows you to comment on current events in a way that allows you to highlight your wise and pithy snark…

  14. Juan next door says:

No,I’m quite real.  Though Jeff often mischaracterizes what I say for narrative purposes.  Also, I generally win all our arguments.  And finally, I don’t really grill with gasoline.

  15. Jeff G says:

    Is that my paper?

  16. Looks like John Ashcroft’s Jack-booted Dissension Crushing Brigades

  17. John Ashcroft says:

Now, now, William.  There you go again with your half-truths and insinuations.  It was IndyMedia/Portland.  Get your facts straight.

Oh, and that black van down the street by the small tree?  Ignore it.

  18. please support your local police
