which earned federal funds through a program that supports improvement of persistently low-achieving schools.
So they rewarded a school for achievement? That doesn’t sound like the Arne Duncan approach. That sounds like the GWB approach. I would hope Jeb would bring his sack (balls included) and point that out.

If there is a God in Heaven, Jeb will thank Obama profusely for continuing so many of his dad’s programs and policies. Maybe spend 20 minutes listing all of them.

That is, it’s a lie. A campaign lie. Catered to a specific audience. Somewhere else, the stance will shift.

Why does Jeb Bush think that this appearance with CESMI will result in an advance on education … and upon him?
I like the Bushes but there are times, in both Father and Sons, that confuse the hell out of me. They will have strong, even conservative notions but will also have moments of moderate to almost liberal sucker punches. That concept drives me up the wall while I cry in frustration, despite my admiration of the family.

What I see is Jeb working his own angle even though it’s clearly in our collective interest to drive Obama down at all times. We want to make it so that anyone can beat him in ’12. They want to position themselves as the one (or best) option to beat him.
I just can’t accept the notion of this being a moderate or soft impulse. It’s self-interest. Self-interest that doesn’t align very well with our own.
Jeb is probably trying a version of “for the children” and “politics doesn’t enter into the appearance.”
Even if Jeb believes that load of clodswallop, everything is politics with the current administration. Jeb should have found a way to bow out of the appearance.
Pragmatically speaking.
A great way to bow out would be to say that Obama is lying about wanting to improve education because he obviously supports the greatest obstacle to improving education, the teachers’ unions.
And that sharing the stage with someone who so clearly dislikes children on issues spanning from education to our crushing debt would be bad for his own image.
Then I’d say, “Bipartisan that, bitch.”
It’s advancing both Obama and Bush’s self-interest, and that doesn’t necessarily coincide with our national self interests…

These are the geniuses who brought us “compassionate conservatism.” Color me disappointed, but hardly surprised.
I hope whoever does pick up our banner keeps photos of the appearance, and absolutely nails Jeb to the wall for consorting with the enemy. Go-along-to-get-along is dead. It was killed by the 2010 elections and the 2020 budget projections.
He should, on live camera, present Obama with a GWB autographed copy of “My Pet Goat” and ask him to read it aloud to the children and pray that he never get interrupted.
I agree. This is his way of saying, “I will not be a candidate for President in… well… ever.”
