   Intercepting a missile like that is certainly a difficult problem. However, you can depend quite a bit on the fact that a large missile is pretty much going to keep moving along its current path, while the smaller, lighter, and faster intercepting missile can change course much more quickly.

    Missile defense has, in fact, worked on many occasions over the decades, as much as that contradicts her statement.

    She doesn’t understand the physics. I’m not sure that she even understands what the word physics means.

    This is not even the close to the first time missile defense has worked, or the first time Arrow has worked.

    Someone as purportedly intelligent as Maddow should never have considered uttering such an obviously false, easily contradictable statement. Next week, we’ll have Maddow stating that rocks from space can never impact the Earth, and anyone who knows the physics of orbital mechanics knows it can never happen.

    I mean, I have only personally, with my own eyeballs, witnessed one intercept.

    I have only personally verified (via a number of means, including (but not limited to) trajectory reconstruction, precise timetagging of when the telemetry cut off for both the target and the interceptor, reconstruction of the intercept event itself via break sequence on the fiber optic grid enclosing the target, and analysis of various remote sensors that witnesssed the event) two intercepts.

    If pressed, I might only be able to reel off a few dozen intercept tests.

    The laws of physics were on a bankschoolCongressional holiday, I suppose.
