    Well, here we go.

I consider myself to be conservative/classical liberal with a strong sense of pragmatism. I’m always willing, even under strong emotional and political senses, to pear at and understand both sides, even possibly conceding that there might be a positive aspect to the opposition position.

Which is why it’s, well, weird for me to say that referring to Obama as an egotist self-marketer … was not honest or clear enough to reflect how I feel about the man. I am now convinced, based upon both the way he and his most important officials have handled this whole Egyptian mess indicates two very important reasons for judgment.

Incredible cultural ignorance and rancid incompetence. He’s done as having any sense of the real world, either economically or diplomatically or historically or … anything except this ridiculous overbearing need to self market. He is a complete loser at the Jimmy Carter level, at the Richard Nixon level at .. whatever constitutes a below last level leader.

He’s completely lost any and all consideration of knowledge, expertise and strength. If any of you think that I’ve gone off of the deep end, challenge me and I’ll respond. I’ve had it up to here and am done being anything resembling a pragmatist when discussing the real world actions of this egotistical dumb ass.

And … I’ve never felt this way about any other president … ever …

I’m supposed to challenge you, BJ?

    i find your challenge challenging.

850 KOA & Fox News reporting that Mubarak has just resigned.

  8. Carin says:

And, quoted at length because I liked it:

Just ponder how a third-rate community organizer — from the most incestuously corrupt political region in the U.S.; with a record of participation in the most vulgar gathering of Jeremiah Wright posing as a reverend, spouting Fanonian rhetoric and bigotry; with mentors such as the unrepentant terrorist Bill Ayers; channelling the teachings of Saul Alinsky and Rashid Khalidi of the Chomsky school of self-loathing and sophistry — could advance through the ranks of American politics at an astounding speed, with little or no record of experience in government, to become the 44th president. In one of my columns from 2008 for the Sun Media in Canada, I had written in disbelief, as I watched the primaries unfold, of how American voters could be so beguiled by a charlatan of the Harold Hill type from The Music Man and vote for Obama. I was wrong in my overestimation of reason and experience among American voters as a check on the naivete of the university crowd and the duplicity of Lenin’s “useful idiots” in free societies. One of the lessons from 2008, for me, is this: how can I now scold Egyptians for wanting freedom and democracy behind the banners of the Muslim Brotherhood when their experience with electoral politics is negligible, and their history of 7,000 years offer little guidance for what freedom requires — respect for the other and not mistaking freedom for licentiousness?

    Links at my place.

  9. BJTex says:

Whew, Carin. Glad to hear it. You scare the crap out of me … kinda …

  10. BJTex says:

Man, oh man, here’s the yahoo headline:

    Egypt’s President Mubarak resigns

Tahrir Square erupts in jubilation as the president hands power to military leaders

    ‘Egypt is free’

What the hell is this, elementary school history? Give to the military to declare freedom?

It’s stupid with steroids, right next to the DNI telling Congress that The Muslim Brotherhood is “mostly secular.”

This transcendent ignorance is boggling my mind.

  11. Spiny Norman says:

Tahrir Square erupts in jubilation as the president hands power to military leaders

    ‘Egypt is free’

Hasn’t Egypt been run by the military since 1953?

    o_O

  12. BJTex says:

Oh my goodness, Spiney, that long?

What an idiot, atrocious. historically ignorant headline.

    Since 1953!

  13. Spiny Norman says:

Where do you think Nasser came from?

  14. LTC John says:

Indeed, I am a bit puzzled by the “Military rule = free” thing m’self.

I only knopw a couple of Egyptian Army folks – but that leaves me only partially hopeful that this whole thing will turn out “free”.

  15. MC says:

Lots of fake outs to come. Egypt continues to be a fakebelieve country and the real game begins.

But I think someone owes me an armadillo ‘nad. Though I don’t know if anyone took my bet.

  16. BJTex says:

Seriously, John, what are the chances? They have a pretty direct history of waiting awhile and then brutalizing the leaders from both MB and the rest of the “freedomists.”

Ah … good times … good times …

    ?

Didn’t I say the military would take over? I’m worried about the next few years, because I don’t trust our leadership, nor do I think them at all competent. The bidding war is now on.

  19. MC says:

I didn’t mean you Jeff. I just issued an open wager involving armadillo parts last night that Mubarak would be gone quickly right after his defiant speech. This happened more quickly than I thought.

I’m on the same page that the game has just begun. They’re getting the people off the streets and as many cameras off the square a possible. Then we’ll see. Anything could happen.

  20. Jeff G. says:

How soon before Obama delivers a speech taking credit for this — “this” not being, of course, a military takeover, but rather a “youth hope and change” movement?

    Optics.

  21. MC says:

1:30 Eastern I think. ‘An historic win for hopey changey. And community organizing’. Natch.

  22. Shaitan says:

Aww. two links didn’t work. Here’s Oprahs and the one for the weapons

  23. MC says:

44’s going to be late. They’re moving his address to a room of more importance.

  24. Yackums says:

DAY-umm, Shaitan, you little devil (SWIDT?), that’s impressive.
The acronyms alone would have been cool, but topical! And with links!

    Every Friday indeed.
