With any luck, Kucinich will have a couple of years to focus on his presidential ambitions. His latest ads are screeching that he’s no Democrat, no, no, no!
“The notion that the leader of the party is being disloyal to his party is I think unprecedented,”
…fails to realize that BHO is of no party except that which he carries concealed in his own head; a mental party whose platform was constructed by his communist father and his Hawaiian mentor, his college-daze choice of compatriots, bombers and left-wing idols, his Black Liberation Theology minister. The Democrat Party is just the convenient vehicle BHO used as a taxi to get closer to his real destination, whatever that might be, but assuredly incompatible with the U.S. we once knew.
Democrats were duped. They should’ve listened to Hillary.
“The notion that the leader of the party is being disloyal to his party is I think unprecedented,”
Really? The millions of people staying home in 2008 and then forming Tea Parties shortly thereafter weren’t a hint that the GOP’s leadership was sorely out of touch and on the wrong path?
Begala needs to get out more.
OT: Am I a bad person for writing in Ron Gardenhire for Governor?
Mr. Dean blames Republicans for blindly opposing the president but says Democrats have some responsibility for voter anger. “There was a misunderstanding of the kind of change people wanted,” he told the AP last month. “Democrats wanted policy change. Independents and Republicans wanted to change the way business was done in Washington, and that really hasn’t happened.”
Oh yeeeearrrrrgggghhhhh!, he’s runnin’; why else would he be throwing independants and Rethugs a bone?
Obama being primaried by Dean would be a popcorn event of extraordianry magnitude. Dude, can you imagine the first time Obama, or his surrogates, played the race on him? Priceless.
I don’t have any idea how the politics on the left will work out, but I do (still) believe Obama will be hit with a hard antiwar protest from the left as the next year wears on. It surely can’t help him with his vanishing base, can it?
No, I like him as a manager of the Twins. I just look at how effectively he turns our middle-market talent into a high-performing team, and hope that he can work a little of that magic on our sick sad bureaucracy. He’s like the anti-Childress.
Back to Begala’s comment — how did the Whigs feel about Fillmore after 1850?
I can’t see Obama facing any sizable anti-war protests so long as he’s reliable socialist/communist. I certainly can’t see the press giving much air to the anti-war movement when it could hurt a left-wing Democrat.
The anti-war protests were more about opposing America, free markets and Bush than opposing war; the international Maoists who ran them aren’t going to rock the boat when one of their own runs the US executive branch.
I’d place bets on marches in opposition to the “draconian cuts” coming from Congress. Long lines of the same people, with the same signs, but this time the press will say they’re marching in support of seniors, the disabled, and the chillrun.
If against cuts arising in Congress (which Pres Barry will surely veto and likely be upheld), then they’re marching on Obama’s behalf, which does make sense. Too, the aged disabled chilluns are a suitably emotive case to take up. And these can be expected to be large, since they can find ordinary democrat adherents: they’d be very useful politically.
Mostly though, I’m betting on the self-ascribed moral purity of the leftist anti-war types, coupled with their disappointment at what I take will be the demise of Barry’s vaunted domestic policy achievements, to spur them into the streets. This isn’t to say I expect these antiwar protests will be vast and powerful, not in the least. They’ll be puny, looney and probably ignored in the press, but I think they’ll still be resonant in the precincts of the true believers.
I still have to vote. There are a bunch of judges that don’t have a party affiliation so I’m not sure what to do. I may just leave them blank. I don’t even know who the R candidate for governor is, and it probably doesn’t matter because the commies will probably elect Dayton. G-d help us.
JD, my understanding is that he was a terrible senator. I really cannot see how he is a viable candidate for governor. I guess it’s all about the name recognition. The Daytons are a very wealthy family, and most people in the state have heard of them.
They took their name off of their department stores a few years ago. I couldn’t figure out why they did that at the time, but now it makes more sense.
Minnesota has a unique problem in that most of the state’s conservatives consider themselves Democrats. Hundreds of thousands of Iron Rangers who hate taxes, hate abortion, hate socialism in general, yet call themselves die-hard DFLers because their families have always been DFLers, and because their DFL pols steal millions from the Twin Cities every year for pork projects on the Range.
It’s frustrating on one hand; on the other hand, it’s definitely an exploitable opportunity if we ever get a reformed GOP or an energetic third party.
Lessee.. First they elected Jesse Ventura governor and we questioned their mental faculties. Then they elected Al Franken Senator and we questioned their mental faculties. Now they have reports that people are writing in Ron Gardenhire for governor and they’re even questioning their own mental faculties. Run for it Squid….
They have exercises for that, you know.
I’m not feeling it as a real concern… dirty socialists are pretty easy to keep in line these days I think.
If he pisses off his labor union thug pals he might could have a problem.
Like that could happen.

Begala’s quote is laughable. Obama’s only a member of the Democrat party inasmuch as that serves as a front for the communist party.

Squid – does that mean you don’t want him anywhere near the Twins?
I don’t have any idea how the politics on the left will work out, but I do (still) believe Obama will be hit with a hard antiwar protest from the left as the next year wears on. It surely can’t help him with his vanishing base, can it?

Yes.
But, I hate the Twins, so that may color my answer…

and Team R is certain to nominate an egregious war-monger most foul
Obama’s not Texan enough huh Rob? Barry caves to Petraeus and the left has all the reason it needs.

You hate the Twins? How could anyone hate the Twins? I just can’t see it. It’s like hating the Browns. What’s the point?
I still have to vote. There are a bunch of judges that don’t have a party affiliation so I’m not sure what to do. I may just leave them blank. I don’t even know who the R candidate for governor is, and it probably doesn’t matter because the commies will probably elect Dayton. G-d help us.
“How could anyone hate the Twins?”
I knew a few older Washingtonians who hated the Twins with all their might. They’re mostly dead now though.
I prescribe Mirapexin.
Wasn’t Dayton considered to be one of the worst Senators, no small feat?
I thought him one of the dummerer after listening to him in hearings JD. Dunno how Minnisotans saw him though.

As a Whiter Sox fan, I must loathe the Twins. Unlike O! I can actually name players on the current roster…
I heart Conminskey Field.
The White Sox are a good team.
I dunno, how does he look in a feather boa?
