Have an FSA or HSA? Because if so, ain’t “what is in it”, for instance, Nyquil or Advil for you.
In fact, notes the Washington Examiner:
With each new revelation, it looks less like a fix for the health care system and more like a recipe for increased state control of Americans’ financial and health choices.
Which of course for progressives and nannystate types is a feature, not a bug.
Each “new” revelation?!? Wasn’t that obvious from the start?
I’ve said all along that this is a trojan horse for single payer – when the government option becomes the only available/affordable option, well… “if you like your current coverage you can keep” was either grossly misleading or an outright lie as reality informs us on a regular basis.
I so look forward to more restrictions on my ever more expenisve coverage – thanks Nancy Pelosi – now that we’ve passed it, we ARE finding out what is in it!!!
Scooter, every promse from Obama comes with an expiration date, some of which are already in the past before he makes them.
It kills me to see this from the old school news media…
DUH!!!
It’s not like people who actually read this crap sandwich legislation haven’t been saying “this is what was in it” from the very beginning.
It’s like they went full blown retard.
And you should NEVER go full blown retard…
We’re past full blown retard and well into spastic now.
Can I Get A DENOUNCED!?
We were talking about this somewhere in comments earlier Jeff. Mara let out a howler last night on Fox and the Hammer let it fly.
It was good.
Dude… you are SO denounced.
Oh, also – Mara mentioned that it was a shame that some of the less popular issues with Health care were coming out before all the goodies we’re all sure to LOVE go into effect.
I’m thinking she must have gotten some kind of stern talking-to by her NPR handlers. She’s gone full-grade stupid.
One more arrow in the Tea Party quiver. I can hear it now: “Unreasonable? You say that I need a friggin’ prescription if I wanna buy Tylenol — Tylenol, fer crissakes! — and I’m the one being unreasonable?!”
ooh rah.
My husband met with the business accountant yesterday, and he said his folks are all totally blind as to what to do; how to advise. They have NO idea what’s coming.
That’s why this crap sandwich needs to be repealed. I personally think FSAs and HSAs are the way to go, especially when combined with catastrophic coverage policies.
Heck, and it would have probably been easier and cheaper to cover all of the uninsured that some folks were handwringing about by giving them a tax credit for a baseline HSA to pay for the expense of coverage and incidental expenses, than to enact Obamacare.
Of course, we all know that coverage of the uninsured was never really the motivation; controlling 1/6th of the economy was.
Sounds like my CPA. When I ask him where I stand in regard to next years taxes… he shrugs with that “You’re TOTALLY boned, Dude” look on his face.
Well yeah Squid. You’re too fucking stupid to take Tylenol without a professional to help you get the dosage right. Do you have any idea how many dipshit parents poison their kids with a shot of children’s tylenol on top of a doses of multi -symptom cold/flu medicine?
Answer: not that many. BUT ENOUGH!

Yep.
Yes. 1,000,000 yes.
But, of course, then people would bear more responsibility for themselves. Can’t have that.
They have NO idea what’s coming.
That certainly bodes well for the next couple of quarters.
Yeah, Ernst… certainly makes ME want to invest in something with my filthy, ill-gotten lucre.
In an airport bar the other day when I was bitching about “Open Enrollment”, I was told by one of the higher ups that my company is seriously considering getting out of “the healthcare business” and simply raising everyone’s salary by five grand a year and telling us to go out and get our own insurance. They looked at a couple of options, one was a five k gross up annual adjustment and the other was a five k end of calendar year “health bonus” taxed at regular rates. Sounded OK to me, if I could shop around for Insurance I might save some money. BUT… he said costs were projected to go up 40% between now and 2014, the raise wasn’t, and that they had no idea if the company would be in trouble if they gave us money to buy health insurance and we didn’t do it… etc… etc… What it came down to was that they feel that dropping the benefit cleanly and partnering with an insurance company to provide health insurance “at a discount” (like they do with cars and travel services, you know what I mean, 20% off Brooks Brothers if you use the company coupon code)would probably be the best bet over time.
I excused myself and had the explosive “craft” beer shits all over the nearest men’s room. Sorry fellow travelers.
LMC – sorry about you having to ‘paint the bowl’ but I could see that reaction… I guess we are going to end up with the VSP type health care service.
I was adding it up. It probably makes sense for me to drown my wife than sell any of my kids right now… unless that one little bastard gets strep again.
On the other hand, the one I think may be “funny”? He’ll get his sex change covered and won’t have to go into the Seminary.
[Regime uncertainty] certainly makes ME want to invest in something with my filthy, ill-gotten lucre.
I remember hearing the president say that it’s because of unpatriotic people like you that economic recovery hasn’t happened. Why do you hate your country Mr. Dewclaw? [/sarc]
Is it because your an eeevill Wall-Street banker who refuses to loan money to small businesses and would-be prospective home-buyers?
At the risk of repeating myself: Make sure that you’re on good terms with a friendly doctor now. As this shit comes rolling down the hill, the workers aren’t going to put up with it, the employers aren’t going to put up with it, and the doctors sure as hell aren’t going to put up with it. For almost all your run-of-the-mill ailments and injuries, you’re going to pay cash to your local doctor, and the State will be none the wiser.
I understand that it won’t be long ’til some neighbor decides to sue for some lame-ass side effect or something, but I’m thinking a few garage fires or creative vandalism might provide a proper disincentive for such behaviors.
As with everything else: when the formal system fails, the informal systems step into the gap.

Heh! I appreciate the snarky sarcasm, Ernst! Thanks for making me blow root beer out my nose. :)
I’ll get back to you on that after I get back from Kandahar after having people trying to blow my ass up on a daily basis… ;)
I swear the first stinking socialist cockroach that SERIOUSLY tries to play the “why do you hate your country” game when I get back home is going to be testing out the wonderfulness of Obamacare intimately.
Seriously… there is just so much uncertainty and unease in every aspect of the economy that buying gold and burying it in your backyard is looking like the safest bet. That somebody… anybody could have looked at this freaking legislative soup sandwich and thought that there wouldn’t be negative economic issues… they are just flipping flat out liars. No one is that stupid.
Well… beside Biden and Garafalo.
Oh… and Joy “Bitch” Behar.
Gold is good, but bullets are better.
I’m just glad you picked up on the sarcasm. If I happen to be on hand, I’d be honored to hold the stinking socialist cockroach while you prepare him for his initiation into the mysteries of Obamacare.
Be Safe, God Speed and all that.
“buying gold and burying it in your backyard ”
Say, you wouldn’t want to give me a 10 digit grid for your backyard would you?
Bullets are darned heavy considering their value. If I’m going that route I need to move out of the city now, because traveling with that much ammo won’t be easy.
Roger that, Ernst!
LTC John… I’ll get you the grid on the SIPR side. LOL!
Hope it doesn’t end up on Wilkileaks. Heh.

Next Wednesday the DOW is gonna jump a couple of hundred points, at least.
Silver and gold are likely to fall a couple of percentage points in the short run, but beat back up again, because the dollar is basically monopoly money.
This, of course, doesn’t take into account the losers pillaging, burning, and murdering the day after.
Which I kinda doubt.

They’ll wait to reconvreene in the lame duck session before they exact their revenge.
A crisp piece of video from Reason TV dealing with “bold persistent experimentation” on the economy, and the damage it does. h/t Cafe Hayek.

Kathryn Lopez interviews Stanley Kurtz on Radical-in-Chief at length. Kurtz’s book takes on an aspect parallel to passing ObamaCare: explaining what happens when we elect a President without knowing what’s actually in him only so we can find out later.
