Objective correlative

Note here: if it does nothing else, having the stark conservative choice forces the left wing candidate to move further right.

Which, that’s a welcome change from watching the GOP fall all over itself trying to prove its progressive bona fides, if you ask me.

    OUTLAW!

Some had similar thoughts on Gene Taylor this morning, I think.

    4. Gene Taylor Favors Repeal of Obamacare. This is interesting, from the Hill:

A Democratic lawmaker signed onto a Republican petition to repeal healthcare reform.

Rep. Gene Taylor (D-Miss.) signed onto a discharge petition drafted by Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa), Taylor’s office confirmed. His office would not offer any additional comment.
Taylor is the first Democrat to sign onto the petition, a reflection of the tough electoral climate facing Democrats this fall, especially over healthcare reform

    This is objectively good.

  4. Ernst Schreiber says:

Give the people a choice between a conservative and a conservative, and they’ll choose the conservative everytime!

    Isn’t that right, President McCain?

    Wide Gulf Divides Candidates

Already confirmed by reams of empirical data, this tells us that we’re a nation split between the takers and the principled. JHo always say: Politics ain’t symmetrical. In our case, politics are what we call the losing war against official theft.

A very wide gulf divides the candidates because a chasm divides the nation. It takes one hell of a bat upside the head for the statist grifters on both sides of the legislative system to every so slowly turn back to actually adding something to society instead of milking it dry.

We’ll know we’re salvageable when we stop electing pork barrel politicians. We’re not there yet. We still envy our neighbors in the next state over.

    “Small government”

Republican gubernatorial candidate Carl Paladino rolled out a new strategy for blocking the planned construction of a Muslim community center and mosque two blocks from ground zero: If elected governor, he would use the power of eminent domain to take the site.

“I’ve been driving land-use issues for 40 years, and I understand the full powers of the governor,” said Paladino, a Buffalo-based developer, in a statement posted Thursday morning on his Facebook page.

He is an idiot. Not as big of an idiot as you, AJB. Not even fucking close. But and idiot nonetheless.

If a Democrat or “moderate” is right on any issue, however trivial or peripheral, he or she is fully on the right track and must be supported without reservation despite positions on other issues, especially substantive ones.

If a conservative is wrong on any issue, however trivial or peripheral, he or she is an insult to American values and demonic plotter against Good People® everywhere, and must be opposed with all possible vehemence regardless of positions on other issues, especially substantive ones.

    Quite symmetrical, don’t you think?

    Regards,
    Ric

  9. B Moe says:

Former Republican governor George Pataki said he’d likely support Tea Party-backed Carl Paladino in this year’s governor’s race. That is, until Pataki learned that Paladino called him a “degenerate idiot.”

    Heh.

Yep. And if by “positions” you mean criminal acts, too.

  11. Jho, I read that as “submissive”

If any of y’all live near Rome, Georgia go put some nice flowers on this old fella’s grave.

  13. Nancy Pelosi has graciously agreed to show Ms. O’Donnell the proper way to service a man.

Unfortunately Mike Castle was unavailable. He was busy talking to President Obama and Vice President Biden.

My pet Chris Coons is upset that only his wife can call him a “pet”. Okay Chris. Hush Hush! See you in DC.

Mr. Paladino, in a rare exception, says he doesn’t want to reduce school spending. And like Mr. Cuomo, he wants to shrink the local school bureaucracy. Unlike Mr. Cuomo, he wants to turn over policy and curriculum decisions to local boards.

I give this a hearty HELL YA!

Somehow I have more faith this Paladino fellow will actually attempt the thing, whilst Cuomo, not so much.

I heard Levin say President Reagan attempted to get rid of the Dept. of Education. I don’t remember that, but most people these days would call that radical extremism. I would call it doing what’s best for America.

I found this comment (it’s #199 if the link doesn’t get to the right place) to be quite interesting. If true, and it has that ring to me, this Delaware race could be quite a good thing now that O’Donnell has funding and media attention.

  16. Darleen says:

most people these days would call that radical extremism.

So why wasn’t it leftist radical extremism when Jimmy Carter created the Dept of Ed?

  17. LBascom says:

I’m guessing that was a rhetorical question Darleen…

Wait one minute! The media narrative is that these right wingers are using enough rope to hang themselves; all the liberal opponent need do is sit back, watch, and write their acceptance speech. What’s this moving to the right crap? Remember, the conservative revolution died in 2008.
