"State aid bill to bring House back"

Naturally!

Surprising even themselves, Democrats broke through Republican lines in the Senate Wednesday and moved quickly to call the House back into session to complete passage of a long-sought fiscal aid bill intended to avert layoffs of state workers and public school teachers this fall.

[…]
The measure promises cash-strapped governors $16.1 billion to help meet Medicaid payments next year, and $10 billion would go to state and local school boards to preserve teacher jobs.

House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio) ridiculed the package as a “stunning display of tone-deafness.” But with the costs now paid for, Democrats feel bolder in selling the initiative to voters as a boost for jobs — and education.

That’s right: taking money from solvent states and giving it to states who can’t control their own budgets — while protecting the teacher’s unions, a reliable voice for the Democrats come campaign season — will be sold to us as a “job boost” and a “commitment to education.”

Ponzi government, run by cynical, power-mad crooks.

This is not the Hope and Change I knew.

Why the hell not? We’re about to take money from mortgage payers to help mortgage delinquents, if we haven’t already. Rob Peter to pay Paul. It’s the New American Way! And if you’re stupid enough to play Peter, whose fault is that?

Watch for the Aug surprise. Guessing around the 19th. Forgiveness of debt for those who are underwater.

Main Street may be about to get its own gigantic bailout. Rumors are running wild from Washington to Wall Street that the Obama administration is about to order government-controlled lenders Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to forgive a portion of the mortgage debt of millions of Americans who owe more than what their homes are worth.

A nice way to bribe your way to an election win. The rest of us who are under water can go fuck ourselves, I guess.

If you “see the light” and start blogging in favor of Teh One maybe they’ll notice and put you on the forgiveness list somehow.

So, I saved for years, put 31% down on my house and I get the joy of paying off someone else’s mortgage?

I am starting to get a bit irked.

it was Team R homo Johnny Isakson what invented the redistributey welfare credit for first-time homebuyers, so that makes it sort of harder for Team R vaginas to try and grow a pair now

    – A little more redistribution with your tea anyone?

    – The really bad part is yet to come, although we had a healthy does of it already during the past 2 years, runaway inflation.

    – That will happen more and more as people widely begin to understand the American dollar no longer represents production and sweat equity, but the simple expedient of just printing more worthless paper.

    – Then we all will pay for these mistakes.

But no complaints were made when $2 BILLION A WEEK were spent in Iraq for several years. No complaints were made when the GOP fights to extend Bush tax cuts for the top 1%, funding which would bring the fed over a $ trillion in the next decade… but no, the GOP must have that tax cut for the wealthiest.

Without the tax cut, the wealthy would be paying the same as they did during the Clinton years, when the economy created 22 million net new jobs and unemployment dropped to 4 percent. Under Bush, job creation was the worst on record and the economy floundered.

  21. happyfeet says:

the economy was better under Bush now it’s just shitty even if you have a coupon
