“Dear Mr President…”

Jon Voight:

You have propagandized Israel, until they look like they are everyone’s enemy – and it has resonated throughout the world. You are putting Israel in harm’s way, and you have promoted anti-Semitism throughout the world.

[…]

You have brought to Arizona a civil war, once again defending the criminals and illegals, creating a meltdown for good, loyal, law-abiding citizens. Your destruction of this country may never be remedied, and we may never recover. I pray to God you stop, and I hope the people in this great country realize your agenda is not for the betterment of mankind, but for the betterment of your politics.

update: Obama responds: Everybody’s talkin’ at me / I don’t hear a word they’re saying / Only the echoes of my mind…*

(h/t JHo)

This one sent me to imdb to do a little researchin’. I’m only familiar with the Mad Magazine parody of this movie, and it’s been many years since I read it.

Too bad his daughter inherited her mother’s looks and not her father’s common sense.
    “Hey, I’m walkin’ here!”

  3. sdferr says:

In the sidebar on the WaTimes page of Voight’s letter, we read

“The top U.S. commander in Afghanistan has been summoned to Washington to explain derogatory comments about President Obama and his colleagues, administration officials said Tuesday.”

To explain derogatory comments. “About President Obama” is bullshit on its face, and “his colleagues” is stretching the meaning of derogatory. There’s another intentional set-up in the offing here.

  4. cranky-d says:

That sounds like a clear case of lese majeste to me. Hang them.

  5. cranky-d says:

Oops, hang him. Then again, the people he was talking to probably agreed with him, so they should be hanged as well.

  6. donald says:

I was walkin there about 30 minutes ago.

  7. dvbbfd says:

Now I’m having an espresso across from fire house #54.

  8. sdferr says:

What he said? Oh, nevermind, it isn’t really all that important, so long as we just go ahead and accept that it was wrong. Whatever it was. Because. It was decided.

(Rest easy. I’m only mocking what is going on in the media or the oval office today, not anyone else.)

  9. donald says:

That was 42nd st right? If not never mind.

  10. BuddyPC says:

Ronny Cox had a bit more success getting through to the Big Giant Head than Jon Voight, albeit temporarily:

  11. WR says:

I wonder how many posts you have made bitching about some celebrity bad-mouthing George Bush. At least one I’m willing to wager.

  12. proudvastrightwingconspirator says:

    Hey, WR –
Most of us here are in complete agreement with Mr. Voight for “speaking truth to power”! Don’t you remember just a year and a half ago when “dissent was patriotic”?
    Why would that have changed?

You hypocrite…try coming up with a better argument before you crap all over yourself in the comments thread again.

  13. Frontman says:

Are we going to have a “bright line” at which we can move away from the Bush-Obama dichotomy? Doesn’t one exist without the other?
