That second link is to an extremely well-written parody site, right?

  2. Jeff G. says:

Parody died sometime during the run-up to the 2008 election, I think.

  3. DarthRove says:

In related news, 69% of Americans have been assigned their People’s Re-Education and Happiness Camp travel orders.

  4. Abe Froman says:

Only problem I see with this is that the fucking imbeciles* are always angry with the (corporate) news media. You hit a blog clipping passages from common dreams and alternet and it’s a more than safe bet that the blogger in question has a cum stained poster of Salvador Allende hanging above his futon bed.

  5. Jeff G. says:

I didn’t say they were the same 31%, Abe.

  6. Jeff G. says:

And you are right, of course. But I liked the fearful symmetry.

  7. JD says:

Problem is that in that 69% are a goodly number of leftists that think the media is not leftist enough.

  8. sdferr says:

Jeff, lemme ask a favor, if I may? Comment 430 in the Good Thing Barton apologized for his apology remarks thread is a fucked up trackback making reading the thread a pain. Would you mind deleting it or altering it to bring the width back to normal parameters? Thanks in advance, if that’s alright.

The “Financial Speculation Tax” will have the same effect upon trading volumes in the US markets that Sarbanes-Oxley has had on the US IPO market, effectively pushing economic activity offshore to foriegn markets, net-net costing US jobs and shrinking US GDP.
Recently, a Silicon Valley chip design company went public on the Taiwan Exchange, and according to the SFChron, there were many more CA-based chip company peers ready to follow their example, rather than absorb the $2-3M+/year costs of complying with the requirements of that wrong-headed, knee-jerk, poorly written legislation.
But hey, what’s a few jobs lost among the “Wall Street elites” if there a solid class warfare game to be played for the political benefit of the progressive agenda?
