Let’s get one thing straight…

Walking Tall is the story of McNairy County sheriff Buford H. Pusser. Whom “The Rock” decidedly is not. Just saying.

Stupid Hollywood.

Thank you for the link.  Dennis Miller’s abstruse reference to Mr. Pusser went way over my head when he used it last week.

  2. Hey, I was almost in the original Walking Tall movie when I was a kid.  It was filmed in my grandparent’s home town of Henderson, TN.  You see, ol’ Buford wasn’t too well thought of in McNairy county at the time, what with the suspicion that he had his wife set up and the killers decided to go ahead and try to kill him as well but screwed it up, so they filmed it next door in Chester County, where they weren’t any of those state line juke joints.

I wonder where The Rock filmed his movie, now that ‘ol Bufords memory has faded a bit.

  3. Of course, your first commenter may have a slightly different take on events back then.

    Hey, Charles.  How you been?

I believe the new version was shot in Vancouver and Richmond, BC.

I can’t bring myself to go see it.  WT withou the boom mics hanging down in frame is just too snazzy for me.

Jeff, welcome back to the fray!  You were missed.  Congrats on having contributed to the production of a photogenic kid!

One thing: it’s Buford “H.” Pusser, man.  I thought it was “T”, too, until I followed the link and checked the “History” page.  I think I was confusing Buford’s moniker with one of the dudes in the “Dukes of Hazard.” The Southerners, the sheriffs, it all mixed together in my head, I suppose.

  6. Jeff G says:

How embarrassing.  I’ll make the change.  Thanks, Juan.

And please don’t tell anyone, or the cultural references police will come and take away my Lite-Brite.

  7. Yeah, but the Rock has a hell of a lot more going for him.

I don’t care for that sort of movie. And yet, I want to go see it.

Hm. I simply don’t understand why.

    [snicker]

dwayne johnson is playing chris vayghn not buford t. pusser and to really answer your question from a lawmans point of view Dwayne Johnason AKA The Rock also hold an accredited degree in Criminal Justice. The cornerstone degree to become a law enforcement officer in the US.

  9. Jeff G says:

    Okay.  Except…I didn’t ask a question.

    Hi…

I share your sentiments to a “T” about this movie, Buford and that stupid wrestler riding the coattails of the real deal.

Just wanted to letcha know… I know where the “Buford T.” thing comes from…

It’s from Smokey & the Bandit.

Jackie Gleason’s Sheriff character is named “Buford T. Justice”.

You would not believe how many hits I get for “Buford T. Pusser”…

I keep gettin’ the hits and I keep correcting the misinformed… *giggle*

    Buford Pusser was “da man”.
