Republican election lessons

Michael Barone to the GOP: “Republicans can’t take for granted in 2010 tradition-minded Democrats who are sour on Obama and/or his policies. They may just not vote.”

protein wisdom to the GOP: “Seems nobody much likes you either.”

To repeat: A hunter. In a hat. Carrying a rabbit gun and a sack.

Think about it.

All I can think about is the username killdawabbit that I saw last night.

  2. JD says:

Crissy Mathews was in rare form last night.

  3. JHo says:

No worries. What we need is a good crisis to galvanize the voters.

Say, a global financial implosion that points to the collapse of world hyper-Keynesian, Ponzi economics; a rogue nation or two going nuclear and threatening its neighbors if not the globe; a socialist supermajority here at home together with its rampant, virtually state-run fourth estate who like it, daily champion the descent of western liberalism; the visible ruin of the coastal and northern Welfare State from sea to shining sea; record unemployment and the decimation by special interest and unionization of the national manufacturing base; a concurrent loss of individual determination, sovereignty, and exceptionalism; and the widespread, visible intellectual failure of collectivist, “progressive” dogma of the last half a century or so.

You know, shit like that. I mean, failing that happening all together, what’s to vote about.

  4. Blake no longer Pres Obama says:

Arlen Specter is gone today, tralalaboompteaaayyy.

  5. cranky-d says:

Specter will still be haunting the Senate for the rest of the year.

    Boo!

  6. geoffb says:

I assume you are talking about this by Matthews.

  7. Alec Leamas says:

Specter will still be haunting the Senate for the rest of the year.

As a citizen of the Commonwealth and registered Republican, my only regret is that I will not have the opportunity to stake the Vampire myself in November.

  8. sdferr says:

So, not a fly-tying cigar chomper in a porkpie hat with a whippy bamboo under his right arm and a net in his left fist, because too out of season in November?

I used to think politics wasn’t a thing of romance at all but I’m slowly catching on that it doesn’t matter a whit what I think. Eros it is then, let’s go all the way baby. But then, when she bloats-up to 300lbs from too many bon-bons and Tastykakes I’mma go chase me another, rather than wallow in the folds.

  9. Curmudgeon says:

Arlen Specter is gone today, tralalaboompteaaayyy.

As glad as I am to see him booted, it would be a Phyrric victory if that Commiecrat Sestak wins the seat in November.

  10. JD says:

geoffb – Is that the clip where he brought up Barcky’s race when discussing a PA Congressional race between 2 white dudes?

Waaaaaaaaaaaay off topic – But I see that the erstwhile friend of Israel, Baracky O’Bimbo, is talking with “moderate” members of Hezbollah. Good Allah, what is wrong with these people?

  11. geoffb says:

No it is him dumping on Blumenthal.

  12. ak4mc says:

Curmudgeon, don’t underestimate Sestak. He’ll almost certainly find a uniquely spectacular way to self-destruct this fall.

  13. JD says:

geoffb – I inflicted several hours of MSNBC upon myself last night. I missed that clip.

  14. geoffb says:

Moderation is subjective as it is what is perceived as the middle ground between what are defined as the extremes. As such Obama is signaling where he sees the extremes as being, and thus where he himself is standing.

  15. Alec Leamas says:

I absolutely hate the cadence of Sestak’s voice. He reminds me of Snagglepuss or something.

To repeat: A hunter. In a hat. Carrying a rabbit gun and a sack.

Fall gobbler season starts in early November. Turkeys may be more apropos to our preferred Congressquarry?

  16. Real America says:

[more cut and paste posted by FYI, whose name change doesn’t make him any more welcome]

  17. geoffb says:

It was said to be from last night but I have no personal knowledge that it was.

Amazing powers of observation from this one, no?

  19. JHo says:

Fail is the purview of the young and minority? Racist.

  20. JHo says:

the economy continued showing signs of improvement.

This economy? Kindly cease with the jackassery.

Yet, the only person obsessed with the color of other peoples skin here is you. Lefties are big fat Bigots.

  22. Freedoms Truth says:

“The new readout came as the economy continued showing signs of improvement.”
6 million private sector jobs lost since Pelosi became speaker. It will be years before we get those jobs back.

  23. Alec Leamas says:

Oh, and I forgot fat white men – mostly south of the Mason-Dixon line.

You see, that’s the kind of piquant trolling that brings me back over and over again. “You’re fat, neener neener neener!”

  24. Slartibartfast says:

[Yelverton]Still, how’s it feel to be a shill for the evil, lying & scheming Republican Party?[/Yelverton]

  25. Mr Pink says:

    Hey I’m only 30 ahole!

  26. Bob Reed says:

Yeah, I can’t discern it with certainty, whether or not FYI/Real America is he-who-will-not-be-named, but the whole “old, fat, white males” schtick is one he used to peddle and resort to regularly.

Maybe it’s been one of the left’s meta-narratives for some time and I just didn’t notice until recently when nishidiot began mindlessly repeating the “demographic timer” mantra.

All that aside, I don’t really believe that everyone here is over 50.

  27. Bob Reed says:

Ah, willie-the-skin-flute-player; a bastion of honor, and a man with the greatest courage-of-his-convictions…

Which is why he constantly changes his cognomen, being as proud as he is of his thoughts and commentary.

  28. JD says:

Willie the Racist hilljack skin flute player !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  29. Slartibartfast says:

mostly south of the Mason-Dixon line

Where’s Yelverton live, again? Oh, that’s right.

What’s really funny is he owns an aboveground swimming pool. That there is rich, luxurious irony.

When I posted #24, believe it or not, I hadn’t read any of the previous comments. That’s predictability for you.

  30. Slartibartfast says:

    teabaggers

How do my balls taste, James?

  31. JD says:

James is a fucking imbecile, a visibly stoooopid pimple on the hairy asscrack of humanity.

  32. JD says:

It is not humanly possibly for Willie the racist hilljack skin flute player who is a genderbender and afraid of brown people that can spell to be any less repugnant. Not at all possible.

So, kindly go fuck yourself, James. With a chainsaw.

  33. Squid says:

One thing I love about our trolls is how wrong they are even when they’re being shallow and insulting. See, it’s the under-40 crowd who should be shrieking the loudest about the tspending tsunami that’s going on right now. When the fat old white dudes are sitting around collecting their checks from the dwindling Treasury, it’s the next generations that will have to bust their asses to try to keep the system from crashing.

To the extent that today’s taxpayer revolts feature well-off middle-age workers in participation, it’s because those people are willing to forgo their short-term interest, because they realize the burdens this system is putting on their children and grandchildren, and because they’re willing to put principle before convenience.

So really, trolls, even your baseless insults are self-defeating. Perhaps you should give a bit more thought to your work. Or maybe just quit before you dig yourselves in any deeper. In any case, you’ll want to make sure that this thread doesn’t come up at your annual review at SorosCorp.

  34. Alec Leamas says:

    Willie Yelverton is back? FRREEEEBIIIIIRRRRRRDDDDDDDD!!!!!!

  35. Pablo says:

Is there anyone out there suggesting that Sarah Palin is not a very good looking woman? Perhaps James needs armpit hair and hemp involved before his hotmeter moves.

  36. Squid says:

    James,

I’m rubber, and you’re glue! Nyah nyah nyah!

  37. guinsPen says:

    Not to forget ferroequinologists.

  38. geoffb says:

Comment #15 applies to James at #30 also.

    And on that poll…

71% disapprove of Congress. 65% disapprove of Republicans. 61% disapprove of Democrats. Plus or minus 4.3%.

So Yea! Win! Democrats. The people may hate [D} less, slightly, within the margin of error. Just under 2/3rds don’t like [D]. Party down time.

  39. Bob Reed says:

    Hey James,
You left out copy-pasta blog troll spammers that act as electronic brownshirts for O! & Co
By that, my boy, I mean you!

And James, what are you smoking, and where can I get some; because anyone that thinks Obama and the democrats are right of center is certainly hallucinating…

Obama is a socialist, James, get over it-and yourself. And here’s one better, he is a command and control socialist without being a liberal. Do you know what that makes him James?

7 letters son, and it starts with an “f” and ends with a “t”.

But, like, at least the trains may run on time…

  40. JD says:

I think it was exceptionally cute when James/willietheracistskinfluteplayer said that Barcky was no liberal, which is true in the classical sense. But he is the epitome of the modern liberal.

  41. Squid says:

I see that our host is cleaning up the trash. Now, I’m sure that our trolls will screech about how their wisdom is being quashed by those too ignorant to appreciate it, but I would remind those trolls that their performance evaluations will soon be upon them, and the erasure of today’s truly disappointing performance is really a blessing. Trust me, guys; Papa Soros demands better of his minions.

  42. Blake says:

Finally posting as myself without the disclaimer post.

  43. Blake says:

Well, I’m not quite 55 yet, but I classify myself as “White” only because, yeah, my skin is white.

Truth be told, though, my grandmother was full blooded Cherokee Indian. Which probably would have been enough to subject me to racial discrimination 100 years ago.

    Reparations!!! Pay up, Willie/FYI/Real America!!!

  44. Blake says:

    Curmudgeon,

At least you don’t have to worry where Sestak is coming from. From the outset you know Sestak’s going to be leftwinger who will always vote against business and for money to be transferred from whatever the latest definition of “rich” is to whatever the latest definition of “poor” is.

  45. Cat says:

    Stop serenading me, stumpy.

  46. SporkLift Driver says:

Under 55 not fat and the Mason-Dixon line is so far to the east as to make any question of north or south irrelevant.

  47. newrouter says:

    i likes doctor zero:

No one welcomes the understanding that a system they have lived under their entire lives, built over the course of a century, is fatally flawed and headed for collapse. This knowledge is a heavy burden. The Tea Party is determined, not spiteful. It’s about renewal, not doom… demanding better from the political and media elite, not lashing out with blind fury as the light fades from America’s eyes.

This is the Tea Party imperative: No more politicians voting for legislation they haven’t written, or denouncing state laws they haven’t read. No more billion-dollar environmentalist con jobs. No more programs that can never be repealed. No more fraudulent candidates. No more illusory “moderate Democrats” representing a party that abandoned every plausible claim of “moderation” when it rammed the health-care monstrosity down our throats. No more “moderate Republicans” cutting deals with a system only a few years away from crashing down on all our heads.
