“A Little League umpire has filed an assault charge against a woman who allegedly tossed a water bottle near him after her son’s team lost a close tournament game.”

Christopher Graham, 32, filed the complaint Wednesday with Piscataway police. He claims Jolene Piersanti, 36, of Bridgewater, attempted ”to cause bodily injury” with the half-liter bottle, filled with about two inches of water and some ice.

Graham, of Greenwich, Warren County, was the home plate umpire for the July 11 game between teams from North Hunterdon and Bridgewater. The North Hunterdon team won the game in their final at bat, and they were celebrating near Graham when the bottle landed a few feet away from him.

Piersanti, who told police she did not intend to hurt anyone, was charged with simple assault and ordered to appear in Piscataway Municipal Court next month.

Talking with reporters after her arrest, Ms. Piersanti quipped, “Sure, a bottle landing near him he sees — but a fastball right down the middle he calls a ball…? Shit. What I shoulda done was open up his skull with a set of shin guards. The blind pimp.”

When asked how he viewed the pitch that had caused all this controversy, little Jimmy Piersanti — Ms. Piersanti’s twelve-year old son and the the losing pitcher for the Bridgewater squad — noted: “My mom beats me. All the time. With coat hangers and things.

“Please. For the love of Jesus, help me. I see dead people…”
