Baahhh Baaaahh

I just caught Bob Odenkirk and Dave Cross plugging their “Mr. Show” DVD on “Late Night with Conan O’Brien.” Surprisingly, neither of them was very funny. Except maybe twice. But sometimes that’s just the way the Jell-O judicates.

Okay, now I just feel silly.

I wish you hadn’t used it to put down Bob & David, but oh well. The Mr. Show DVD is well worth having, whether they were funny on Conan or not.

I like “Mr. Show,” Jim. And Bob & Dave. Last night, though, they weren’t too funny. Except maybe twice. But sometimes that’s just the way the Jell-O judicates.

I just watched it, and you’re right. The commentary on the actual DVD is a lot funnier than the bit they did last night. Funny concept, didn’t pull it off.

I’m kinda glad they didn’t pull it off, actually. Because I was trying to figure out a way to get that stupid line of yours into something, and I’d just about given up. Watching them “inspired” me because I kept thinking, “they’re usually so much funnier than this. Must just not be on. Bad airplane food maybe. But you know, that’s just the way the cookie crumbles sometimes. Or as they say in Trenton, ‘sometimes that’s just…’”

You get the idea. I was tired.

The last time I saw them on a talkshow together was when Janeane Garofalo guest-hosted for Letterman when he was recovering from his bypass. They did a skit that parodied “Who Wants to Marry a Millionaire,” which had them playing two millionaires who had to marry each other. It was hysterical.

They were also funny on Space Ghost.
