I’m not some historian of election “irregularities” or anything, so take what I say with a grain of salt, but…

…this MA special election is shaping up to be pretty much fucked, wouldn’t you say?

Meh. No biggie. I mean, it ain’t like there’s much at stake or anything…

update: “Fucked,” he reiterated.

If Jimmy Carter shows up to declare that this election is fair, then I’ll know we’re fucked.

  2. JHo says:

The original agreement on liberty hinged on the honor and principle of a certain sort of individual. The American voter of 2010 ain’t that individual.

  3. happyfeet says:

But still I wonder who’s gonna win though.

  4. Squid says:

The police later opened a polling machine for a handicapped man.

I didn’t realize that it was all right to call Democratic voters ‘handicapped’ now.

  5. Spiny Norman says:

Brown will win, but will never occupy the office. The Dems will “find” the votes to push Coakley over the top. I’ve suspected something was up since last week when it was reported that they were “inundated” with requests for absentee ballots, even though the deadline for absentee ballots was December 30, 2009.

  6. BJTex says:

Various reports have surfaced about last minute robocalls, from those “push poll” types asking voters if they’d support Brown knowing he is supported by “hate groups” to someone posing as Mass. Right to Life astating that the anti-abortion organization is not supporting Brown because of “health care reform.”

I’m thinking the entire state is going to need a long shower after this election.

  7. McGehee says:

Those poll workers in Massachusettes are unbelievable. Every place I’ve ever voted has had signs posted all around identifying the distance inside of which campaign materials are not allowed.

But you know what? If they can’t take down the Coakley signs, they also can’t take down signs for Brown. I’ll bet if a few Scott Brown signs turned up next to the ones for Coakley, those poll workers would figure something out.

  8. Joe says:

That might explain her sudden surge on Intrade. http://www.intrade.com/

Still behind but if it is close they will steal it.

  9. JD says:

I thought the police union endorsed Brown. I guess the rank-and-file did not get the memo.

    Signs are teh ghey.

  10. JD says:

Republican perfidy knows no bounds. They will lie, cheat, and steal in order to win this election.

  11. twolaneflash says:

Have Ted and Mary Jo voted yet?

  12. Rick says:

Maybe it’s just me, but campaign sign violations are not a worry. It’s bogus ballots that are of greater concern. Gotta keep the results outside what Mark Steyn called “the margin or ACORN.”

    Cordially…

Sullivan’s work increasingly reminds me of what I believe a psychologically troubled woman is like during a particularly rough menstrual cycle.

Nudged by Limbaugh’s playing a Sousa march this morning, I wondered whether Sousa ever wrote a Ballot Box March? Seems like it would have been an easy target.

  16. LBascom says:

Thomas Sowell thinks there is quite a bit at stake.

The fate of America is on the line.

  17. alppuccino says:

Intrade surge is gone Joe. I have a feeling some smart conservatives took advantage of some of those greedy and gullible liberals. HA!

  18. mojo says:

Hell, they’ll have Ben Franklin and John Adams voting next…

You NEVER go off the rolls in Massatwoshits!

  19. Tman says:

Whether Brown wins or not, this is clearly a shot across the bow at the democratic leadership. This election shouldn’t have been anywhere near this close and the idea that the Peoples Republic of Massachusetts would even entertain the notion of a republican in Teddy’s former seat is something that six months ago would have been absolutely insane.

If this is the way the country is trending the blue-dog Dems are going to be absolutely screwed at the midterms if they continue to support Obama’s government programs.

And the best part is the tone-deaf narrative coming out of the Dem party leadership. They are still acting like none of this is happening. Awesome.

  20. Nolanimrod says:

Sorry, but when I see a hanging curve ball, well…

The original agreement on liberty hinged on the honor and principle of a certain sort of individual. The American voter of 2010 ain’t that individual.

And it’s a dang good thing, too, because the geezer would probably button-hole you with tales of what Washington said and then what Madison said and you’d never get out of there.

  21. sdferr says:

Good point Tman. Indeed, the encouraging spirit of independence we should be watching for is precisely any such spirit shown by Democrats — thinking for themselves and telling their leadership to go straight to hell, they won’t be following. Unseating Mrs. Pelosi from the Speaker’s chair, for instance, would be a nice sign. If these folks recover their sanity we might begin to believe the country is trending in a better direction.

mojo, they’ve been voting for Franklins in Massachusettes forever, but they will accept Grants and Jacksons if you’re short.

  26. geoffb says:

Charles has assured us that both sides are equally guilty of cheating and despicable actions, also that both candidates are pretty much the same so there is nothing really at stake in this race.

    Oh, look Bunnies!!!

  27. JD says:

You know my theory about people named Charles, geoffb.

  28. geoffb says:

Brown won too big for theft…
