San Fran Nan Accuses CIA of Lying [Dan Collins]

as per Pablo in comments, and here.

This is probably a good strategy, since her constituency is heavily moonbat and won’t be swayed by evidence or reason. Just sayin’.

Ed Morrissey: Pelosi dares CIA to leak again

  1. happyfeet says:

that link problem again but for sure I’m intrigued and will check back for to be clicking enthusiastically

  2. Dan Collins says:

    D’oh! Should be fixed.

  3. Mr. Pink says:

I will hold my breathe until this gets wide press coverage. This will get swept under the rug as soon as Michelle goes outside wearing another sleeveless shirt.

  4. Pablo says:

Boehner’s on now. The short version? “Let’s get it on!”

  5. geoffb says:

Ah, she did by the backhoe, and it works.

  6. geoffb says:

    buy not by

  7. Pablo says:

“The Speaker has had way too many stories on this issue.”

    Heh.

  8. Sdferr says:

“The only mention of waterboarding jello in the briefing was that it was not being employed,” she told reporters

  9. Carin says:

    This could be fun!

“My statement is clear. Let me read it again. Let me read it again.”

    heh.

  10. geoffb says:

Now what is it that will be pushed to the back pages or never covered while this is ongoing? It’s a nice act in the center ring. Couldn’t happen to a more deserving person. But what is playing out, away from the spotlights?

  11. Carin says:

She was not briefed on what was in that briefing. heh.

  12. Carin says:

Ok, lemme go visit Huffpo to see if it’s even made the radar.

  13. maggie katzen says:

    heh.

    you’re outing yourself, Carin. ;D

  14. Carin says:

Banner headline on Huffpo: “Speaker Pelosi: The CIA LIED TO ME”

  15. Carin says:

Outing myself as a shameless stealer. I don’t read the Puppy blender.

  16. Carin says:

HA. she was informed that there was a briefing. But she was not briefed. She was only briefed about the briefing.

  17. Sdferr says:

there was a brief briefing about which she wasn’t briefed but that someone else was breifed but she wasn’t briefed briefly or otherwise

  18. Carin says:

Too bad there is absolutely nothing funny about the donks.

  19. Carin says:

Honestly, this is just as good as the Bill Clinton “is” moment.

  20. Mr. Pink says:

Carin if you want the left wing reaction to this go read the comments to Pelosi’s presser at the Politico. You can pretty much sum them up with “BUT BUSH LIED ABOUT ___________!!!!!!!” and a few psychos saying that they actually believe that the CIA lied to her since Cheney was in charge of it at the time.

  21. maggie katzen says:

Outing myself as a shameless stealer.

from Rush. ;D I suppose I didn’t quote the right bit. so you’re on the list with Sdferr, me and B Moe.

Anyhoo, this is just the kind of thing I want to hear from someone on the intelligence committee. or not.

  22. maggie katzen says:

    OVERSIGHT!

  23. Carin says:

Oh, yes. I was listening to Rush.

I’ll admit it. I do listen to Rush with some regularity. I hope Obama fails too.

  24. Sdferr says:

Weapons of mass destruction as iconic touchstone of misleading, the purest expression of a lie andevershallbeworldwithoutendamen

  25. Pablo says:

She was not briefed on what was in that briefing. heh.

    “I wasn’t briefed, I was informed.”

  26. Rob Crawford says:

“I was not briefed; I was pantsed.”

    During the gagging, she escapes…

  27. JD says:

    This is just soooooo rich.

  28. Sdferr says:

    What was Steny thinking again?

  29. kelly says:

Caution: Repeated botox injections may lead to a false sense of imperviousness. Or an impervious sense of falseness.

  30. Carin says:

    Pelosi- fucking political pos:

It is clear that after the 9/11 attacks Mrs. Pelosi was briefed on enhanced interrogation techniques and the valuable information they produced. She not only agreed with what was being done, she apparently pressed the CIA to do more.

But when political winds shifted, Mrs. Pelosi seems to have decided to use enhanced interrogation as an issue to attack Republicans. It is disgraceful that Democrats who discovered their outrage years after the fact are now braying for disbarment of the government lawyers who justified EITs and the prosecution of Bush administration officials who authorized them. Mrs. Pelosi is hip-deep in dangerous waters, and they are rapidly rising.

Uh uh uh … mutter, mutter … “My statement is clear. Let me read it again. Let me read it again.”

  31. JD says:

Let me read it again. Let me read it again.

Standard Leftist tactic of repeating their bullshit until it becomes accepted.

  32. happyfeet says:

This is really a lot following Mr. Rockefeller’s script I think. When you play politics with national security this is where it leads sooner or later. I know this because the CIA is reliably gay and will reliably fuck you up.

  33. Matt says:

Rush is calling it “Pelosi 5.0” =0

Picking a fight with Langley on this is moronic and it speaks volumes about both Pelosi and her constituents that she can’t even cop to EIT’s for thugs like KSM.

  34. Pablo says:

Who’s have guessed that waterboarding would be this much fun? I was thinking of it as an unpleasant but necessary tactic. I’m beginning to think that it’s the best thing evah!

  35. Sdferr says:

By Rockefeller’s script I take it you are referring to this leaked memo happyfeet? It’s a good thing to re-read a few years later.

  36. kelly says:

Anyone taking odds as to the extent of Teh One’s administration’s hand in this? Aren’t Toes and Steny thick as thieves? And is it wrong of me to think that “Steny” could be hooker slang for “stiff but teeny?”

  37. Sdferr says:

Not sure, but could be Steny is hooker slang for “gee, i didn’t expect to run into you in Dundalk.

  38. Joe says:

Schadenfreud! Delicious when poured over waffles.

  39. JD says:

The irony of the Leftists destroying themselves over waterboarding is just delicious.

  40. Joe says:

Things to do in San Francisco: I enjoy a glass of Schadenfreud while watching the surf at Seal Rocks.

  41. Pablo says:

Cheney’s request to release EIT memos: REFUSED.

    BECAUSE OF THE TRANSPARENCY!!!

  42. Mr. Pink says:

Here is some initial spin from the WaPo I think you guys will enjoy. Pay careful attention to when the word “process” turns up.

“While Pelosi’s press conference this morning was clearly intended to put to rest a process story that all politicians hate, it may well have the opposite effect — raising more questions about her timeline and her past statements.”

    http://voices.washingtonpost.com/thefix/house/pelosi-fuels-torture-fire.html

  43. Sdferr says:

Pablo, mightn’t Amnesty Inter. withdraw their FOIA request (or suit) for those specific memos, thus removing the court case as an excuse for the continued withholding and putting the ball back in Obama’s lap?

  44. Pablo says:

Sdferr, I think the argument that Amnesty’s FOIA request/suit somehow precludes the release (especially given what Obama has already decided to release) is ridiculous. But the thought of Amnesty acting in support of Dick Cheney makes me giggle.

  45. kelly says:

Why on earth would do that, Sdferr? They’re just as much in the tank for Teh One as the media is.

  46. Sdferr says:

Why on earth would do that? I assumed they wanted to see the documents. If this procedure might get them that desire fullfilled the sooner (and possibly with less cost?), why not take it?

  47. ken says:

If there was ever a case for waterboarding someone, finding out what Nancy knew and when she started lying about it is moving to the top of the list.

  48. Pablo says:

In case you missed it, here’s the Pelosi presser video.

  49. lee says:

As someone that thinks EIT does not equal torture, I would feel better about Nancy if she admitted she wanted to do more than waterboarding.

So, from that perspective, what I find outrageous (if I actually believed the lying cunt) is her dereliction of duty in; a)not attending the briefing even though she was chair of the house intelligence committee, and b)failing that, not even being briefed on what was said.

The excuse is worse that the fucking charge!

It’s like telling the cops “I wasn’t soliciting a prostitute, I didn’t know she was a hooker. I was just raping the woman!”

  50. Matt says:

Anyone listenin to Rush playing those Obama soundbites- apparently, we need to give up our dreams of success so we can do what Our Dear Leader wants us to do. If you’re in business, go help a non-profit, if you’re a nurse, go work at a low income clinic, if you’re engineer, work towards a greener tomorrow. Sure, you won’t make shit for money and you’ll live off the public dole and probably will never pay off your student loans but at least you’ll be doing what Teleprompter Jesus tells you to.

He makes me want to puke. Really. Even Bill #!#ing Clinton didn’t say idiotic things like this. Note to Obama- SELF INTEREST BUILT THIS COUNTRY. Course, not ever making an honest dime in his life, how the hell could the community organizer understand capitalism.

    Seriously, sick to my stomach.

  51. geoffb says:

    Another thought.

These hearing could be useful as a way to draw out and identify those in the intelligence community whose primary loyalty is to either the agency or the USA. They then could be quietly marginalized or purged in the coming years. Leaving those whose loyalty is to the Party.

  52. geoffb says:

“Anyone listenin to Rush playing those Obama soundbites- apparently, we need to give up our dreams of success so we can do what Our Dear Leader wants us to do.”

Think positive. Obama to America, “Go Galt”.

  53. Sdferr says:

Nanny Nan went to Iraq for Mother’s Day to remind everyone to call home.

  54. happyfeet says:

thank you sdferr – google for some reason is super slow here today – it’s just our network I think

  55. Mr. Pink says:

Hearing stuff like this makes me depressed simply because it is obvious that people’s main focus will be on a single target, Pelosi, and whether she lied or not, instead of on the fact that our national security was being thrown out the window by a political party so they could use selectively leaked classified information to advance their own interest.

  56. kelly says:

If this procedure might get them that desire fullfilled the sooner (and possibly with less cost?), why not take it?

The cynic in says Amnesty et al are figuring out what the rest of the country is figuring out: Nan and her fellow travellers knew about the EIT long ago and are trying (and failing) to CTA, big time. Since it’s become clear that the witch hunt for Republicans is going to snare the Speaker and others, all the groups like Amnesty are cooling their ardor and remain perfectly willing to be the Dem’s foil.

  57. kelly says:

Wish I could share your concern about “national security was being thrown out the window,” Mr. Pink. I guess I’m jaded from eight years of our national security being used as a political weapon against Bush by…the CIA.

  58. Sdferr says:

    a single target, Pelosi

But, as our Democrat leaders are fond of saying, Mr Pink, let’s be clear. This single person is nominally the third or fourth most powerful person in our scheme of government. Individuals and their individual character (or lack of same) we say, matter. It does matter that the third or fourth most powerful person in our scheme of government is a lying skunk.

  59. Mr. Pink says:

It does matter I know, I just have seen this play before. Sorry to play the what if a Republican did it game but I am positive this would be played out in the MSM and thru that most people’s minds as it being the party who was lieing and throwing national security away in order to gain a political advantage. Here it will be confined just to Pelosi if there is any damage at all which I doubt since the MSM has proven time and time again they will simply bury any information harming Dem’s in the Age of Obama.

  60. Pablo says:

Since it’s become clear that the witch hunt for Republicans is going to snare the Speaker and others, all the groups like Amnesty are cooling their ardor and remain perfectly willing to be the Dem’s foil.

kelly, I suspect their general anti-Americanism may trump any preference they have for Democrats over Republicans.

  61. Sdferr says:

I don’t think this issue can possibly be “confined” Mr Pink. There are too many significant individuals taking stands much too important to the security of the nation to sweep anything under the rug. Obama isn’t going anywhere soon and he’s got a stance. Cheney isn’t going anywhere. You aren’t going away. Steny isn’t going away. Happyfeet won’t go away. Dave Petraeus isn’t going away. (Odierno? I’m not to sure about him right now? heh) David Obey isn’t going away. This thinger has the hugest legs, legs bigger than even R. Crumb could imagine.

  62. Matt says:

I sleep better at night knowing succession is Obama-Biden-Pelosi. Its probably the only time I’d prefer Obama at anything.

  63. Silver Whistle says:

I’m wondering how the Dear Leader can let the CIA and Pelosi go to the mattresses – he can’t afford to let the CIA be called a pack of liars, can he? Does he throw the old elephant skin rug under the bus?

  64. Sdferr says:

Is she his to throw now SW?

  65. Silver Whistle says:

All he has to do is call her out – she can’t buck the Messiah. Oh, did I say that? Please denounce me.

  66. Silver Whistle says:

Apart from the schadenfreude, what I’m loving is the power dynamics here. Who will be allowed to win? Whose credibility is more important to the One? If he backs the Speaker in return for God knows what, the CIA will continue the drip drip drip of briefings, memos, etc. I can’t see the old hag getting out alive.

  67. Sdferr says:

I can’t see the old hag getting out alive.

I think I must agree there, which is why I’d expect Obama to keep as much distance as he credibly can and let her caucus deal with the “problem”.

  68. Sdferr says:

Stepping for a moment gingerly along that thought-trail SW, we can expect that as Nanny Nan goes down, her collegial loyalists (such as John Murtha) will likely be going down right along with her. This could indeed become quite the circus.

  69. Silver Whistle says:

What kind of witch’s bargain can she make to keep her overstuffed arse on the Speaker’s seat? What does she give up to keep some power?

  70. Sdferr says:

I’m at a loss to conceive what can save her after her performance today. It was akin to watching an imbecile commit a fumbling seppuku and botching the job. We’ll just have to wait until one of her retainers can finish it with the coup de grace.

  71. Silver Whistle says:

You don’t think hearings will be held, names taken, fingers pointed, deals struck, etc.?

  72. Sdferr says:

    hearings…held [unsheathing the sword]
    names taken…..[drawing back to swing]
    fingers pointed [forward stroke]
deals struck….[well yes, amongst the survivors divvying up the loot]

  73. Silver Whistle says:

Sdferr, you’ve cheered me up no end. Thanks. I’m going to pour a drink!

  74. kelly says:

Pelosi’s too stupid to know she’s unwittingly already made a Faustian bargain, SW. What she has going for her is that her soul is worthless to Beezlebub. Perhaps I’m being too gracious. One can’t do anything “unwittingly” if one does have any wits to begin with.

  75. Ric Locke says:

Yes, the dynamics are interesting, in the faux-Chinese curse sort of way.

Obama won and holds the Presidency, but day by day we get more and better evidence that this man has no intimation of a hint of a clue to what he’s supposed to be doing. George W. Bush generously gave him the $2 tour of the White House and the duties of the President at no charge, and I keep waiting for the Leftoids to start shrieking that he got brainwashed. Note that everything he’s done that makes even the remotest sense is pretty much what GWB and his merry men would have wanted. The result is that his poll numbers are dropping, which gives him less and less horsepower to bully the Congress with. He’s always had defections from the right, the Blue Dogs, but now he’s seeing defections from the left — muttered and inconclusive ones, but real.

Pelosi, on the other hand, is bullet-proof. She could strip naked and machine-gun the congregation of the First Church of Christ, Scientist, and still be re-elected — and she knows where enough bodies are buried to remain Speaker for as long as Democrats have a majority. Steny Hoyer can go pound sand.

The CIA should be the CIB, the Central Intelligence Bureaucracy. (To be fair, that’s how it was set up in the beginning.) Intelligence, being In the Know for important stuff, is addictive — I got out almost forty years ago, and I still have withdrawal pains — and the CIA, in covering their bureaucratic butts, have become skilled in keeping their nominal supervisors in the Congress fed with just enough to keep the jones on. Subcomptetents though they are, they also have enough gravestone-rubbings to keep people a lot more careful than San Fran Nan in line, and everybody concerned knows it.

Obama’s Leftoids, which are also Pelosi’s constitutents, want him to Bring the CIA in Line, to generate mea culpas enough to reduce their power and influence. Like any bureaucracy, the CIA sees diminishment of their power and influence as the top of the list of Bad Things, and works hard to avoid it. Bush tried it — we now have the NIA, the CIA’s nominal superior — and got nowhere. The CIA will do nothing until and unless their rice bowl is threatened, but Pelosi and co. are threatening it big time.

We’ll see how it goes. If it weren’t so damned dangerous, it’d be popcorn material. Since we can’t do much about it anyway, maybe popcorn is the best response.

    Regards,
    Ric

  76. Silver Whistle says:

This whole “Blame the Bush admin for the torture” gig is going to come completely unravelled, if every single Dem who has been pushing it gets outed by the CIA. Surely Dear Leader has got to step in and say that Congress approved it? Heads are going to explode.

  77. Silver Whistle says:

Should have reloaded – sorry, Ric.

  78. Ric Locke says:

Not a problem, Silver Whistle. Your formulation is one of the local optima, of course, but the phase space is complex enough that the little ball can go ’round and ’round for a long time, and where it stops, nobody really knows until it does so.

    Regards,
    Ric

  79. geoffb says:

    “R. Crumb could imagine.”

First Zappa and now this. You know these references express a certain age, right? Well, we must “Keep on Truckin'”

From one who remembers that “hippie” was a term of derision coined by the media back, well quite a while back, because “freak” wouldn’t sell as well.

  80. Sdferr says:

Odierno has the chops for persuasion of the CinC.

Who else [and so who does Odierno threaten]? Axelrod?

  81. JD says:

One wonders if SanFranNan looked surprised when this was first leaked.

  82. Silver Whistle says:

I’m going to light a stogie and enjoy my Añejo while this plays out on the tube. Got to get my pleasures when I can these days. Cheerio, chaps.

  83. kelly says:

One wonders if SanFranNan looked surprised when this was first leaked.

Good one, JD. One wonders how she pulls off “unsurprised.”

  84. Mr. Pink says:

Yeah my mother used to tell me if I made faces it would stick that way I just never believed her. Now I know.

  85. BJT-FREE! says:

I’ve been dying to say this for so long …

WHAT DID THE SPEAKER KNOW AND WHEN DID SHE KNOW IT?

    Ooooo, baby, that felt good…

  86. Mr. Pink says:

Well BJT regardless of when and what she knew I can gaurentee you she looked SHOCKED!!!!

  87. BJT-FREE! says:

Yea, Mr. Pink, but so did Nixon.

See what I did there? That’s my little self centered mean spirited approach to she of the sere faced wrinkles. Work in as many Watergate era phrases as they apply to her lyin’ ass.

Yup, that’s be, bathing in schadenfreude.

WHAT DID THE SPEAKER KNOW AND WHEN DID SHE KNOW IT?

    I’m calling Woodward right now!

  88. BJT-FREE! says:

Extra points for using Pelosi and “Deep Throat” in the same accusation.

  89. JD says:

    Thanks, kelly.

BJ – That was just soooooooooo wrong, on so many levels.

  90. Sdferr says:

McCarthy’s analysis of today’s Pelosi gobblydeegook:

To establish torture conspiracy, a prosecutor wouldn’t even have to prove an overt act in furtherance of the conspiracy. You just need to show that two or more people agreed to commit the prohibited act. Here, though, by her own account (or at least one of her own accounts), Pelosi knew the CIA was planning to use waterboarding and later learned it was actually being done. So, if Pelosi was told — as the CIA says she was — that waterboarding was being used, that’s another nail in the coffin. But for a prosecutor, it’s just gravy — not at all necessary to the case. As Pelosi herself tells it, she was aware of a conspiracy to torture — which is just as significant under the law as torture itself — and she did nothing about it. […]

In any event, it seems to me that the Speaker is cooked even on her own version(s) of what happened here.

  91. donald says:

Two things, I run a for profit enterprise, and I help more people in a day than the Obama administraton will in 4 years. I helped more of them today as a matter of fact.

As for that aging hippy from San Francisco. All I know if a whole lot of people got one story and you got another. Well, ya gotta who with the whole lotta people deal. She’s a lying cunt. Hope that makes to the blogosphere.

  92. B Moe says:

Hey don, our old drummer is flying down from MN and the Saviors are going to be doing a couple shows the weekend of June 12 and 13. Drop me an email if you are interested.

  93. donald says:

Bmoe, I’m in, I’ got 2 floors of suites at the Holiday Inn. Or sumpin. I’m actually doing a baseball tournament up there that weekend, so I’m in. Where they gonna play?

  94. B Moe says:

Friday night an early show at the Caledonia, right behind the 40 Watt where X will be playing later, then Saturday afternoon in the Blind Pig parking lot for their big birthday bash.
