Pelosi lied, people, uh, got wet.

Surprise!

Okay. Not really a surprise. But, well, you know.

****
update: Moe Lane chimes in.

****
update 2: Pelosi doubles down:

“Of the 40 CIA briefings to Congress reported recently in the press, I was only briefed once, on Sept. 4, 2002, as I have previously stated.

“As I said in my statement of December 9, 2007:

“‘I was briefed on interrogation techniques the administration was considering using in the future. The administration advised that legal counsel for both the CIA and the Department of Justice had concluded that the techniques were legal.’

“I had no further briefings on the techniques.

“My understanding of the briefing I received is consistent with the description that CIA General Counsel Scott Muller provided to Congresswoman Jane Harman in a letter dated Feb. 28, 2003, which states:

“‘As we informed both you and the leadership of the intelligence committees last September, a number of executive branch lawyers including lawyers from the Department of Justice participated in the determination that, in the appropriate circumstances, the use of these techniques is fully consistent with U.S. law.’

“As reported in the press, a cover letter from CIA Director Panetta accompanying the briefings memo released this week concedes that the descriptions provided by the CIA may not be accurate.”

  1. Sdferr says:

Is there any lie this cretin can tell which, when exposed for all to see, will cause her caucus to say, enough, let’s off this bitch?

  2. geoffb says:

If a tree falls in the forest next to Nancy, did she really hear it?

Expect a doctor to come out with a malady of intermittent deafness, it’s so sad, poor lady.

  3. Mr. Pink says:

I just picked up a WaPo and the front page story was all about how Pelosi was lying about her knowledge and acceptance of waterboarding for political gain……Oh wait never mind I must still be drunk from happy hour last night.

  4. BJT-FREE! says:

    Shocking … SHOCKING! … SHOCKING!!

Remember, slow deep breaths … that’s it … easy now … I know it’s hard when a politician misspeaks ….

Pelosi and Reid are setting new, subterranean standards for incompetence, arrogance and brazen untruths.

  5. The People of San Franciso says:

Sure, she may be a baldfaced traitorous liar, but she’s our liar.

    Haters!!!

  6. Pablo says:

Suddenly, I’m all in favor of prosecuting the people responsible for the authorization and oversight of that nasty torture that caused KSM and friends to be uncomfortable and afraid.

  7. happyfeet says:

Our little country is less safe because of this hoochie.

  8. Carin says:

You know how we can get a straight answer out of Nancy? Waterboard her. Who’s with me?

  9. The media says:

Sorry, we just don’t see it. We don’t see any thing at all.

  10. SBP says:

As tempting as that might be, Carin, I don’t think that would produce anything other than I’m melting…melting….

  11. J. "Trashman" Peden says:

Yes she lied, but obviously all in the interests of showing that the [Black] Messiah can get the same info from non-waterboarding as from waterboarding, and compile the same perfect record. Well, that, and the overarching interests of pure Science, which does require at least a repeat of an experiment to see if, say, waterboarding really does work in comparison to apprehension and humane treatment of alleged criminals, criminal trials and so on.

So, here’s to you, Nancy, woo woo woo, hey hey hey, or something.

  12. Carin says:

She reminds me more of this. Bottom photo. Every time I see her, I see that picture. LOL.

  13. Obstreperous Infidel says:

Just stay mesmerized by the grandma double D’s.

“Sure, she may be a baldfaced traitorous liar, but she’s our liar.

    Haters!!!”

Plus, to leftards, lying is a feature, not a bug.

  14. Asymmetric Polyhedron (formerly mojo) says:

There must be some valid reason that the House Dems would elect a mendacious idiot to the Speaker-ship. I just can’t figure out what it was.

  15. geoffb says:

“There must be some valid reason”

No matter what she does, as long as it is for”the Party”, she will get re-elected to her seat. So she can do or say whatever is needed at the moment. This means she can provide a media story at any time, to submerge something that needs to be off the front page or any page. Cheaper and easier than bombing aspirin factories.

Extra plus, hitting back at a “girl” a “grandma” can be spun as just plain mean.

  16. dicentra says:

Kills me how these moronic pols never remember that Records Are Kept. Even a seven-year-old knows better than to tell a lie they’re sure to be caught at.

  17. happyfeet says:

In a little country what had a media this would be old news. What’s the back-of-the-napkin count you think of how many Pulitzers have been awarded for not reporting on this? Peabody ones too. More than a few. A lot I think. All of them, even.

  18. J. "Trashman" Peden says:

Kills me how these moronic pols never remember that Records Are Kept.

She should have kept her own records, right? Not that it matters.

  19. geoffb says:

I don’t think she expected to be caught or if she was that it would matter. A victim of believing her own publicity as most tyrants do.

But SF will still re-elect her.

  20. BJT-FREE! says:

Pelosi lied in a forest full of fallen trees. The mimes laughed at her and Harry Reid farted.

All of the wood elves were water boarded.

  21. J. "Trashman" Peden says:

One troll at Dr. Sanity’s did aver to the effect that ~”the Left never did trust Pelosi to begin with”, claiming instead that ~”we see her as one of yours”. So something might be seeping into their cracked heads.

And that was even before it was proven that Pelosi had been lying in effect all along in not revealing that she’d been informed that waterboarding had already been used and yet did nothing about it.

  22. Matt says:

*Even a seven-year-old knows better than to tell a lie they’re sure to be caught at.*

Happy’s got it- as long as the dems have the press to fellate them in good times and cover for them in bad times, there is absolutely no incentive for dem politicians to tell the truth, especially when the truth is something their lunatic fringe doesn’t like.

  23. Mr. Pink says:

Well she is denying it again. I guess people just lie when writing the minutes.

  24. Sdferr says:

    What a fucking worm.

  25. kelly says:

From the good prof’s place today:

“The interesting thing for me here is not that a politician might choose to dissemble over an embarrassing revelation, but that an arm of the federal bureaucracy would so deliberately impeach one of the most powerful (and vindictive) members of the political branch. CIA could have chosen to let sleeping dogs lie and give Pelosi a pass, but instead the spooks chose to publicly confront her with inconvenient facts. . . . Either they’ve got more on her than they’re showing and this is a shot across the bow, or else they’ve taken the measure of her juice and they’re just not that impressed.”

  26. .38+P says:

The thing about Pelosi is it doesn’t matter if she lies or just goes around making stuff up. Her San Francisco constituency won’t care. As long as she continues to exhale carbon dioxide they’ll reelect her. I used to live in the San Francisco Bay Area and those loons won’t even be embarrassed about her – she’s going to be the female Robert Byrd.

  27. Sdferr says:

Her constituents back home and her caucus members in the House are two entirely different political animals though, .38+P. SnarlFranciscan’s can send her back to Congress until she keels over, yet that doesn’t qualify her to hold the highest office in the Legislature.

  28. .38+P says:

Sdferr – Agreed, but the dems in the house seem to be pretty hard to embarrass too. The only “qualification” to become the speaker of the house is having the ability to convince your party members to support you. I will be extraordinarily surprised if the dems outplace her over her tiny (by democrat standards) “memory lapse.”

  29. geoffb says:

She is a good flak catcher. Can’t be hurt by any of it. Her “gender” is some armor. She will not suffer the fate of Tom Foley or Tom Daschle.

Is she rather stupid? Yes, but all of the politically reliable Democrats who want to be the “face” of the Party tend that way. The politically reliable smart guys, the few, the precious few, tend to stay back behind the scenes.

  30. -Ed. says:

What a self-absorbed twit. It’s all about her, isn’t it.

  31. […] told two other stories this week. First, she knew nothing about waterboarding, no way, no how. Then, she said knew the administration thought it was legal but hadn’t used it […]
