Change you can believe in!

Well, that’s one way to try to downsize the military.

Plus, it’s the next best thing to billing families for the bullets.

115 Replies to “Change you can believe in!”

  1. Dash Rendar says:

That’ll teach them to vote against me 2-1. Right? Right?

  2. Spies, Brigands, and Pirates says:

Would the private insurance even pay for such a thing to begin with?

I seem to recall that most policies specifically exclude acts of war.

  3. Hadlowe says:

But, see, we’ll all be on government health care by then, so really it’s the same thing.

  4. Dan Collins says:

I think that was one of those inartful thingies.

  5. Spies, Brigands, and Pirates says:

The man’s just tired is all.

He’s only had five vacations in the last two months. He’s not Superman, people!

  6. Jeff G. says:

If their insurance costs go up, tough! Tell them to pick a less repulsive line of work. Like, say, President.

  7. Dash Rendar says:

Free nationalized healthcare for all Americans? Check. (except soliders, fuck ya’ll whiteys)

I think we can burn down Washington now.

  8. Jeff G. says:

Maybe they came up with this at one of those Wednesday night bashes while doing upside margaritas with Stevie Wonder.

  9. Dash Rendar says:

So, any takers on what newspaper is gonna cover this? No? Yea, that’s getting kind of old now.

  10. router says:

i like stevie wonder leading the nation

  11. Rob Crawford says:

Didn’t the lefties try to savage Bush for not increasing VA spending fast enough? Didn’t they claim that proved he didn’t give a rat’s ass about the troops? Didn’t they claim the state of buildings at Walter-Reed proved Bush didn’t care (never mind that Congress could have paid for the repairs for the cost of one of Murtha’s earmarks)?

So what does this policy proposal say about Obama?

  12. The Obvious says:

Health Care, soldiers don’t need health care. The Red States breed like flies.

  13. blankminde says:

I’m boiling on this one. I’ve got quite a few friends with serious burns from Al Fajr that are going to be receiving therapy for years. Is this even real? I’ll tell you what, I’ll consider this a reasonable decision if the President looks even one person in the military in the face that can’t feel shit from the waist down and explains to them how awesome this idea is.

  14. The MSM says:

    Rob,

Nothing at all if I can help it.

  15. JimK says:

These people must be on drugs. Nothing else would explain their total denial of reality.

  16. blankminde says:

    11. Bush increased VA spending by something like 53%. I despised his social policies…I was concerned about some of foreign policy decisions…but the military? The man was like our patron fucking saint.

  17. Dash Rendar says:

@ 11. Yea I’m pretty sure the Dali Bama explicitly campaigned on those talking points. “We’re gonna take care of teh troops,” and such.

  18. Dash Rendar says:

But I guess that might have been before he called them air-raiding baby killers and such.

  19. MarkJ says:

CNN? Come on Jeff. This, to me, sounds like yet another manipulative media ploy to demonize ‘private’ insurance in the hearts and minds of most Americans, so that ‘the one’ can say (magnaminously, of course) “See. The Government should provide everyone health care” So let it be written, so let it be done…

  20. The Obvious says:

Stevie Wonder isn’t leading the nation?

  21. Rob Crawford says:

Bush increased VA spending by something like 53%.

Yes, and ISTR the lefties screeching that it should have been increased by 153%.

  22. Slartibartfast says:

Is this the Crusader of veteran’s healthcare?

  23. Just constant headlines that scream for attention, from FBI raids to broken campaign promises. Is Barry straight up nuts? Even for Alinsky Jr., this veterans thing is way out there. A dem, Patty Murray, is making more sense than our Pretender in Chief.

  25. Spies, Brigands, and Pirates says:

    A dem, Patty Murray

Not a Blue Dog, either. She’s a full-bore moonbat on most issues.

  26. The Obvious says:

I’m afraid that with Barry the Alinsky isn’t as big a problem as the stupidsky is. That worries me.

  27. pdbuttons says:

  28. Spies, Brigands, and Pirates says:

Yeah, The Obvious. It’s becoming painfully obvious that the man simply isn’t very bright.

He’s good at saying what one particular audience wants to hear, not so good at making actual decisions.

  29. SmokeVanThorn says:

Yeah, but this is nowhere near as offensive as Bush asking James Webb how Webb’s son was doing. Right, Jimmy?

  30. The Obvious says:

That’s why he needs the teleprompter. All his life he’s been what he’s been told to be. That got him into college, into law school, into good jobs, into politics and into the White House. That’s cool, but the Presidency isn’t a role. If we’re lucky the economy finds some sort of stability and nothing too challenging happens internationally…

  31. dicentra says:

I’ll tell you what, I’ll consider this a reasonable decision if the President looks even one person in the military in the face that can’t feel shit from the waist down and explains to them how awesome this idea is.

He’s a grandiose narcissist, which means he lacks empathy, so he could tell the injured to pound sand without breaking a sweat.

As long as cameras or other recording devices are not present. If they are, he’ll cheerfully B.S. them from his teleprompter lines and move on to the next Fawning Crowd.

  32. geoffb says:

Every time you figure they have bottomed out, Barack finds a bigger shovel and keeps digging.

Either he will manage to socialize the entire nation in a way that can’t be undone, or he will bring the Progressives down to where that ideology will never rise again.

So wonderful to live in interesting times.

  34. Sdferr says:

    …the Presidency isn’t a role.

Wasn’t a role, I think. Things change. You gotta roll with the times.

  35. apotheosis says:

    #14: Usually I’d agree, but…CNN reported this?

    That seems significant.

  36. router says:

  37. The Obvious says:

    Sdferr
No it’s still not. Never has been, never will be. People can try and make it one, as in this case. We will all pay for that in the end, too.

  38. Sdferr says:

Perhaps I mistake Mr. Obama then, Obvious. Cause I’d a sworn he is faking it.

  39. router says:

  40. The Obvious says:

    Sdferr,

He is. He’s not going to get by with it for long, either. The world doesn’t afford leaders that luxury.

  41. Pablo says:

Don’t y’all worry ’bout nothing. Guns Obama is on the case.

  42. The Obvious says:

And duplicating the template they brought Obama to power will be a disaster for the nation, but before that I hope it will be a disaster for the party that tries it.

  43. Sdferr says:

    He is.

    Ah, well then, Q.E.D.!

  44. The Obvious says:

Oops that should be “that brought”

  45. router says:

are there nice houses on the south side of chicago not gov’t owned ?

  46. router says:

  47. The Obvious says:

    Sdferr,

Sure, so long as you over look the harm he’s done to this point and the harm he’s going to do. You manage that, it’s a great example to copy, I guess. Uhm, but isn’t this election thing about finding competent leaders? And if we’ve decided it isn’t any more shouldn’t we let the people we’re trying to bullshit into voting for us on the joke?

  49. fmfnavydoc says:

Shinseki was AFU as a General and is still AFU as VA Secretary – wanting to FUCK vets for medical care (I’m a vet). The military has been a unwilling participant in “socialized medicine” called TRICARE, which reimburses physicians in the network at a rate WORSE than Medicare (and Medicare sucks at reimbursement). Tricare also attempts to collect through Third Party Reimbursement (going after other insurers – like spouse has you on his/her medical insurance through their employer).

    You don’t want Obambi’s/Donks plans for medical insurance/care via the state…its a fucking mess….

  50. Berets for everyone!

  51. Obstreperous Infidel says:

You know, some of the more disingenuous left complained about Bush in regards to matters such as this. I wonder what their thoughts are now?

  52. Sdferr says:

…it’s a great example to copy

Obvious, you’re reading into my remark much more than is there. I’m not claiming that the current condition is now for all time. I was trying only to point out that I think he’s faking it. What the next gent or lady will do is another question altogether. That’s it.

  53. George Orwell says:

President Waffles said everyone was going to have to sacrifice something. His Holiness had to spend over a trillion dollars in the spirit of fiscal responsibility. So he’s got to pick up savings wherever he can. Now I know you may remember leftards howling about how the troops never got enough body armor, but that was just a distraction and a mistake. Only five percent of the Taliban aren’t moderate, so Barry can cut back on the armor, the medicine and the VA nonsense. He’s gotta pay for those cocktail parties somehow. They are of vital national importance.

I don’t know anyone what’s enjoying this whole Baracky is president thing. None of my Baracky voter friends want to talk about him anymore.

  56. The Obvious says:

    Sdferr,

I wasn’t trying to imply a position on your part one way or another. If I did, I’m sorry. I’m just saying the Barry Template is to be destroyed not copied.

  57. Dan Collins says:

But Barackopolis is going to be a cool city, hf!

  58. Sdferr says:

No worries TO, none whatsoever. I’m thinking I’m going to warp Dan’s tag that it better comport with my mood these days. Goes like this:

    CI-LIVITY NOW!

  59. Spies, Brigands, and Pirates says:

That’s why he needs the teleprompter.

The next time some “progressive” makes a crack about Reagan being an actor, point out that at least Reagan could remember his fucking lines.

  60. happyfeet says:

Marconi plays the mamba, Dan. Another thing, though. For all the changey changey, is it just me or is the Baracky administration thingy not particularly newsy? It’s very shallow message-wise, like they never want to get into any of the specifics. “Reforming healthcare” and blah blah blah … it all still sounds very campaigny. It’s boring.

  61. Sdferr says:

Who’da thunk so many people could band together to elect a moron, SBP? I’m starting to believe I’m going to end up having to ask Baracky to change his ownself, forget about the rest of it, if he could just manage to learn a few simple things about the country he pretends to lead, that would be a great help. Change Baracky, I hope you change!

I thought that we had already moved into hopey-faileyness.

  64. Sdferr says:

Hf, isn’t a mamba a deadly poisonous snake? So how does one play a snake? Or is there some other kind of mamba I don’t know about?

  76. panther girl says:

@55 – Wishing that were so around here happyfeet. Everyone who voted for Obama here seems to be still singing his high praises. But I am mostly surrounded by academics and NPR groupies. The more he wrecks our country, the more excited they get. On the plus side, with all this excitement going around maybe some of them will actually get laid. They could use a little oxytocin to calm ’em down a bit.

  84. Sdferr says:

Listened to that Built this city song. Meh. Whatev’s. I did note though, since I hadn’t heard her in a very long time, that Grace Slick did or does have a pretty strong voice, in her range and all. What with our electronic tomfoolery it ain’t always the case with singers these days. Not that she’s remotely in the league of an Ella, just that her pipes aren’t bad.

  85. panther girl says:

I’m still optimistic hf. These Starbucks Marxists will start crying and whimpering the minute they realize that this is going to affect them. They’re all for Obama’s brand of “social justice” as long as A) they don’t have to pay for it (fat chance that) and B) it continues to keep the proletariat under their feet so they have someone to “save.” They won’t take too kindly to finding out that they’re not special in the One’s eyes.

  88. Sdferr says:

maybe it would help them to know that Lord Keynes believed that the total portion of GDP going to government (all gov’s totaled together, city, county, state and fed) should not exceed roughly 20%. We’re currently verging on 40%.

  89. panther girl says:

Plus some of the folks around here aren’t really the brightest bulbs, happyfeet, so it takes them a little longer. It’s from all the drugs and love-ins I think.

  90. panther girl says:

Yea, Sdferr – I never got how they’re talking about this being Keynesian economics. But perhaps if a friend reads the cliff notes and then explains it to you in the 5 minutes before the exam starts, I suppose this might be what one could take away from it. And who am I kidding – most of the liberal folks get their knowledge of economics from sociology and ethnics studies classes. From instructors who never took an econ class either.

  91. J."Trashman" Peden says:

Anyone else getting the creepy suspicion that there seems to be no one around in the Obama Adm. to even pull His strings?

  92. Joe says:

But the proposal would be “dead on arrival” if it’s sent to Congress, Sen. Patty Murray, D-Washington, said.

Murray used that blunt terminology when she told Shinseki that the idea would not be acceptable and would be rejected if formally proposed. Her remarks came during a hearing before the Senate Committee on Veterans Affairs about the 2010 budget.

Patty Murray may not be the sharpest bulb on the string, but she does have a lot of military families in her state so even she has figured this is stupid. Good move Team Obama.

  93. Joe says:

Patty Murray is also not the brightest knife in the drawer.

  94. J."Trashman" Peden says:

They’re all for Obama’s brand of “social justice” as long as…B) it continues to keep the proletariat under their feet so they have someone to “save.”

Thirty four years ago, I considered B to be one of my greatest realizations, even if possibly my only one. I remember exactly where I was when it occurred. Sigh…

  95. J."Trashman" Peden says:

Ah, Patty Murray. Back in the days of Hillary Care, it was reported that Ms. Murray contacted Hillary rather anxiously to make sure that the Uterus would be covered. Impressive, eh!

  96. J."Trashman" Peden says:

They’re having orgasms because the Obama administration thought it up.

#74 – in so many Dutch words – it is saying that you can’t get the picture off of the server from Eidnhoven Digital City – its a no go.

I had thought I had felt/seen the last of GEN Shinseki’s nutiness years ago. I guess he is just going to keep haunting all of us in uniform for years to come. Bah.

He always was tone deaf, this just confirms it is worse than previously exhibited.

  102. SGT Ted says:

This is for real. Go here http://www.cbo.gov/doc.cfm?index=9925 and go into the pdf and search for tricare, veterans administration etc. They are wanting to fuck veterans. Thats how Obama shows us love.

    However…

I have Tricare Prime as a retiree and my wife has Medicare B. Between the two our medical care has been completely covered. We pay between 3 and 6 dollar for prescriptions. The old Tricare before 2001(I think) wasnt as good. I should know, my wife and I have been dealing with them for 24 years. They don’t exclude for pre-exisiting conditions, which my wife had plenty when we got married.

If someone is bitching about Tricare today, they are doing it wrong.

Shinseki is now Obama’s bitch. What a cunt.
