NYT: Axelrod Authorized Hit on Limbaugh [Dan Collins]

They bury the lede, of course, but Sister Toldjah has the details, and so does Ed Morrissey. Where’s the outrage?

Oh, here it is. Howard Dean says it’s fun because it’s true. And no, we’re not going to let it go, yet, Howie. You lying sack of shit. (h/t Joe, in comments)

Sara at Pal2Pal has something to say about Ethelred the Oprezzy.

  1. router says:

you’re really dissing President Hoover. what you don’t like “progressives”?

  2. geoffb says:

    From the Ed Morrissey piece.

“The White House has ginned up an attack machine to pillory Rush Limbaugh, but meanwhile dozens of high-level appointments have yet to be made at Treasury. They’re too overwhelmed to figure out correct protocol for Gordon Brown’s visit (and too busy to offer decent gifts), but they have the time to coordinate attacks on a radio-show host.”

I’d say this is a welcome view into the priorities of Obama, Axelrod and company. Words may be twisting lies that appear most fair, but actions are much harder to conceal or make into confusion. Not too many military minds in that White House.

  3. Sdferr says:

Not to be too nitpicky geoffb, but I think the correct order may prove to be Axelrod, Obama and company. But we’ll see.

  4. router says:

nobama only axelfraud and his marionette

  5. geoffb says:

Chicken or egg??? Both can be made into dinner.

  6. Sdferr says:

Ah, yes, but which one can nudge the other around with its beak?

  7. geoffb says:

You got me with that one. Touche.

  8. Tom vG says:

Hey!! Did any of you just hear Mark Levin pimp our Jeff Goldstein as writing a great “piece”?? He’s asked his producer to post it on his website and mail it to Newsweek.

Watch that Pay Pal hum… although he did say it was on HotAir… so, if any of you know Allah Pundit or Ed Morrisey maybe you can get them to give JG the proper plugation.

  9. Abe Froman says:

Tell me Axelrod doesn’t look like every kid who ever got wedgied in high school? Just the idea of employing the language of victimhood (i.e. where’s the outrage?) as it pertains to pole smokers like this makes me physically sick.

  10. router says:

george soros msm fraud live. hoover lives.

  11. Dan Collins says:

Thanks for that news, Tom. Great to hear.

  12. B Moe says:

“You are willing to debate Limbaugh now, aren’t you?” the reporter said, referring to Mr. Limbaugh’s challenge to debate Mr. Obama.

Fat fucking chance of that ever happening. Axelrod would be picking pieces of Obama out of Limbaugh’s shit.

  13. Dash Rendar says:

The media blitzkreig continues apace, target Jim Cramer:

“Take Frank Rich and Jon Stewart. Both seize on the urban legend that I recommended Bear Stearns the week before it collapsed, even though I was saying that I thought it could be worthless as soon as the following week. I did tell an emailer that his deposit in his account at Bear Stearns was safe, but through a clever sound bite, Stewart, and subsequently Rich — neither of whom have bothered to listen to the context of the pulled quote — pass off the notion of account safety as an out-and-out buy recommendation. ” *

  14. alppuccino says:

That is huge router. If you listen to the tape of Obama calling the reporter back, he sounds about as presidential as Joe Isuzu.

  15. Roland THTG says:

    The Clown Car Presidency.

    This is all too bizzare.

  16. Sdferr says:

Yeah meya, we’ll just take your word for it.

  17. dicentra says:

    Meya:

Lefties were never too hip to the law of unintended consequences. It harshes their mellow.

  18. geoffb says:

If Obama keeps this pattern up there will be a lot of Lefty mellow harshed.

  19. psycho... says:

“Freeze” in Alinsky means define the identity of.

The stampede to self-identify against the frozen “Rush” is proof that it’s worked.

    It always works.

  20. Abe Froman says:

“If Obama keeps this pattern up there will be a lot of Lefty mellow harshed.”

not to worry. The left has never been wrong about anything. Look it up! They just need a few moments to reorient their glorious narrative.

  21. meya says:

““Freeze” in Alinsky means define the identity of.”

Indeed. It looks like the folks who are being attacked in this way are the ones who are asked to denounce Rush, not Rush.

  22. geoffb says:

Yeah, I forgot. As long as you can keep rewriting the past, the future is always glorious.

  23. geoffb says:

    Meya #24,

    See #20.
    Rinse, repeat as needed.

  24. meya says:

You’re on to it here though. Steele was described as “punked.” You know its a battle over language too, over reactions to Rush, not Rush.

  25. JD says:

Barcky would rather demonize Rush than deal with the economic crisis, he is exhausted. On the other hand, every time he and Geithner try to deal with the crisis (read – kneecap yet another industry) they make it worse, so … silver linings and all.

  26. Spies, Brigands, and Pirates says:

Words may be twisting lies that appear most fair, but actions are much harder to conceal or make into confusion.

Yeah, and the American people are deciding that they don’t like what they see.

Six more points. Come on, Barky! You can do it! Si, si puedo!

I expect it to go negative by the end of the month.

  27. Mr. Pink says:

    28.
Saw this linked off of the bottom of Drudge about O!’s economic policies. Pretty funny stuff but there are reasons in here for hoping that him and Geithner do not try to “deal” with the economy.

  28. Carin says:

Meya, they are attacking Rush. They are “elevating” him to the head of the Conservative movement in order to tear him town. How can you have such a big, fat idiot as your head? is the undercurrent. People are supposed to reject him, so that he (hopefully) loses credibility, listeners, and (ultimately) the conservatives lose his voice.

    It sorta backfired.

  29. Mr. Pink says:

IMHO: They are trying to transfer Bush hatred on to anyone they can considering that Obama is basically Bush’s 3rd term. Hell what were the some of the things they hated him most for? The war in Iraq, excessive spending, supposedly tearing up the Constitution and appointing political cronies right. Well he is continuing the war in Iraq in the EXACT SAME PLAN Bush drew up before he left, he tripled spending his first 60 days in office with no way to pay for it, he has kept all of Bush’s supposedly unConstitutional powers including FISA, and he is appointing every idiotic tax cheat and crooked ex-Clintonite he can find. If Axlerod can get give his supporters someone else to hate so much that they do not notice Obama=Bush’s third term then he is a freakin magician.

  30. Rusty says:

The Alinksy “rules for radicals” quote looks off here. These events don’t seem to have the object of freezing limbaugh. Rather it looks like the white house wants to promote him.

Uh. You eleted an incompetent twit to lead the country, maya. What did you expect?

  31. B Moe says:

    It sorta backfired.

They believed their own hype, that Rush really is a big, fat, idiot. They forget he was given that label by a drunken fool.

  32. TheGeezer says:

    They believed their own hype

    They always do.

What is amazing here, in my office, is that no one is even aware of this storm over Limbaugh. What they are aware of is Obama’s failure to do anything having a positive effect. In other words, for the rank-in-file, non-political-junkie citizen, the Limbaugh affair is a teacup tempest is well below the horizon. Obama is not.

    Seems about right to me.

  33. alppuccino says:

Still if Limbaugh could have just used more of a tone of civility and integrity and civility.

Example from Obama: “We can’t just air raid villages and bomb civilians”

See? It reads really bad. But if you listen to the tone of civility, it’s almost relaxing.

Is there a lower form of life than Axelrod?

  34. meya says:

“People are supposed to reject him, so that he (hopefully) loses credibility, listeners, and (ultimately) the conservatives lose his voice.

    It sorta backfired.”

Could be. I think their concern is more in trying to freeze Newt and Cantor and McConnel and Steele, rather than Rush. I think they’d rather have a situation where people are led by Rush than those guys. Because Rush is not a leader.

  35. Mr. Pink says:

All those people you mention meya have absolutly no power. Yes blame them for all the worlds faults as they sit in the minority party that can not even mount a filibuster. Blame them as Obama continues the Iraq war and stacks up debt so high our grandchildren will not be able to afford to buy a can of dogfood. Really sound strategy there.

  36. TheGeezer says:

Is there a lower form of life than Axelrod?

    Evil incarnate James Carville.

  37. Pablo says:

They are “elevating” him to the head of the Conservative movement in order to tear him town.

Which everybody knows is just plain stupid.

The Big Lie can work, but it has to be somewhat plausible. Or at least so ambiguous that it can’t be easily disproved. This one is dumb and so are the people that came up with it.

  38. Pablo says:

They are trying to transfer Bush hatred on to anyone they can considering that Obama is basically Bush’s 3rd term.

And they’re kinda overwhelmed so erasing the bottom of the “B” was the best they could manage to pull off. BEST TRANSITION EVAH!!!

  39. Mr. Pink says:

Yeah until Axlerod goes out of his way to destroy the reputation and good name of an American citizen whose only crime is sleeping with the President, by labelling them a stalker and trailer trash on TV and in print to the entire country, then Carville will remain top POS in my book too.

  40. Pablo says:

They forget he was given that label by a drunken fool.

Hey, that could be Senator Drunken Fool, so you might want to watch your tone, bucko!

  41. Bob Reed says:

B-B-But, O! has spent the last 2 years alternating between hand wringing and weeping, or Outrage! over the “politicization” of the White house; and especially about the presence of Rove! on Boooooooosh!s staff…

Meanwhile GoebblesAxelrod is actually doing just about everything they projected onto Rove!; and what he isn’t doing, Rahm-bo is…

And, isn’t all of their ginned up Outrage! over Rush, that was planned far in advance of his CPAC speech by the way, simply a distraction from talking about, you know, the issues surrounding his legislative agenda and ecnomic plans..?

At least, that’s what he would have called it during the campaign…

    Just Words!?

    O!

  42. Mr. Pink says:

He seriously is Bush’s third term. The only thing that has changed is the party lable, skin color, and the complete socialisation of our economy instead of just bailing out selected firms.

  43. MarkD says:

I don’t know anyone who cares about a talk radio host. I have a lot of co-workers who do care about what is happening to their 401Ks and jobs and homes.

Even the dullest catch on after a while. They’ll forgive Obama for his socialism, and they don’t care about the rich, but when they can’t buy or sell a house, or get a job, and everything costs more every month, it’s going to be hard to ignore that things weren’t this bad when the other guy was running them.

  44. Mr. Pink says:

The only people that care about what the radio host says are people that listen to him or people that hate him that probably have never listened to him.

  45. TheGeezer says:

They’ll forgive Obama for his socialism, and they don’t care about the rich, but when they can’t buy or sell a house, or get a job, and everything costs more every month, it’s going to be hard to ignore that things weren’t this bad when the other guy was running them.

Or when they can only buy midget weasel three-wheeler cornburners with a top speed of 40 mph with crank windows and no AC. For $20,000. If you know somebody in the business who knows somebody with a relative who works for the government bureau that issues permits to buy new cars and who belongs to The Party.

  46. Joe says:

David Alexrod: Have you tried the new acid? It’s trippy.

  47. BJTexs says:

Not to revisit the kerfuffle but when even Newt Gingrich gets caught up in the deliberate parsing of someone’s words, you know that the “reasonable” argument is too little, too late.

This whole Limbaugh campaign strikes me as amateur hour from the PR pro team. Maybe they just can’t help themselves and are still basking in the hubris glow of all of the people they took out during the presidential campaign with their snappy little E-Mail “calls to action.” The fundamental flaw is that many of the same people who opined that their view of Limbaugh is negative don’t give a rat’s ass about this sort of thing. Not to mention the fact that Rush gets more attention, more listeners and more revenue streams.

And Rush was right about this: Why would he want to be the titular head of the Republican Party? It would be like inheriting the kingship of the castle after it had been looted and razed by Vikings.

Well, if the cause of the castle razing was some wiener decided not to fill the moat because it was earth unfriendly and the front gates were left open to represent more “inclusiveness.”

  48. Joe says:

    BJTexs, you wrote:

“It would be like inheriting the kingship of the castle after it had been looted and razed by Vikings.”

    Vikings?

It is worse than that…much worse.

  49. geoffb says:

“whose only crime is sleeping with the President”

Actually the “crime” was rebuffing a very crude advance, being accused publicly of accepting it, then having the absolute gall to ask for an apology, and when it wasn’t forthcoming going to court to clear her name.

Carville is from some order lower than flatworms. Axelrod is still working his way down.

  50. geoffb says:

Ok, you were thinking Monica, I was thinking Paula.

  51. Mr. Pink says:

Geoff you could include both of them and Paula Jones. I have yet to hear Axlerod say “Well lookey what you get when you drag a dolla thru a trailer park.” I wonder how all three felt when they realized their tax dollars were going to pay the salary of someone in the government whose job it was to destroy their reputation. Musta felt real swell.

  52. Mr. Pink says:

Sorry I ment both of them and Linda Tripp.

  53. geoffb says:

Who is #3? There are so many to choose from. Gennifer? Kathleen?

  54. geoffb says:

    Answered before asked.

  55. SmokeVanThorn says:

Six months from now, Limbaugh will still be scoring points on the fact that not one of the nutless bastards will accept his invitation to debate.

And all the Republicans who said “no” to the non-stimulus package need to trumpet their havoing done so.

  56. Mikey NTH says:

They have taken on a war of choice (War on Rush) when they have a war of necessity (running the administration) to do. They are failing in the second as resistance from within their own ranks increases and the number of gaffes grows. They will fail in the first because Rush isn’t an ordinary citizen: (a) he doesn’t care what anyone thinks about him, so doing the alinsky ‘attack the person’ thing won’t work; (b) this is war of words and the man ‘buys ink by the barrel’; and (c) as President you look ridiculous doing this (note to Rahm and O-Man: you aren’t little rabble rousing community organizers going after the man, you are the man).

But by all means – continue to concentrate on Rush while you publically do epic fails with your duties, foreign leaders humiliate and snub you, and your coalition splinters as the hyenas it is made up of start tearing each other to increase their share of the spoils. It will play out in such a way that not even ACORN may be able to save your political hide.

  59. Obligatory Axelrod Ordered “Hit” On Limbaugh…

To be honest, the Limbaugh/White House feud is boring and silly, surprising coming come from a man who giggles at fart humor and thinks that Beavis & Butthead were pure comic genius, right?  Anyhoot,  it serves Limbaugh’s ratings well, furt…
