Sorry for the dearth of posts today, everybody; I’ve been wearied by the barrage of pro-Palestinian garbage on the news shows (“you see? The Israeli military incursion cannot and will not stop the suicide bombings! Occupation must end, yada yada yada!”) — and besides, my host has been acting quite bitchy.
But this got me quite exercised.
Yessir. Once again, I find myself embarrassed to be associated with “academic” thinking…

Funny thing—the MIT/Harvard folks claim to have been inspired by Princeton faculty pushing a divestiture effort. And, there is indeed such an effort at Princeton, including their own web-page.
BUT the Princeton site provides NO way of identifying exactly who among the faculty has signed it.
You’d think it would be one of the things that they’d be trumpeting, especially if you got some big-wigs to join in.
For what it’s worth, let me say that this has been barely a buzz on campus. The most I’ve noticed is a single editorial in the Crimson against the move towards divestment, and a few angry comments by my friends (center-left Arafat-bashers, all of us).
It’s more indicative of how easy it is for Harvard to get in the news than it is of any widespread sentiment on campus. It’s a big school (both MIT and Harvard), and you can find screwballs everywhere.
Dude, what’s up with your web host? Every morning I look forward to three things: my first cup of coffee, reading the Philadelphia Daily News ( a grand tabloid) on the train ride to work, and clicking on protein wisdom to read your bon mots du jour.
Damn that web host of yours for ruining my morning!
