Islamists aren’t really conservative as such – they go much further than that. They are the very definition of reactionary. Nothing that goes against what the Koran dictates (and what they accept of the Hadith) can be tolerated.
Saudi Wahhabists, Salafis [their Pak surrogates included] and the Iranian mullocracy are the most notable groups of these reactionaries.

Evangelism as a word is rooted in the Greek for “Proclaim Good News!” While a few have misinterpreted the idea that proclamation and actual conversion are two different things, Jihadists make no such distinctions. They aren’t proclaiming a “good news” so much as demanding recognition of a religious “certainty” on pain of punishment and death.

Strictly speaking Evangelicals are an outgrowth of Christianity, a movement that started in 18th century Britain. They were adhering to Christ’s command to his disciples to go forth and proselytise; as documented in the Gospel…
Now, the Islamists believe in proselytising also; indeed, they are quite zealous about it. And, in what they consider a righteous Islamic government, all non-believers are Dhimmi’s; they are tolerated, as long as they know their places, but are clearly second class citizens at best…
So, an analogy between Evangelicals and the activities if Islamists is a stretch, except of course on either a semantics ground or by invoking standards of moral relativism.
And, even in the latter case it is really not applicable since there are no existential consequences to choosing against conversion, save for those that are meta-physical in nature…
Especially in the modern west where religion and the state are not conflated…

No! Islamists are quite different from Evangelists – they do not offer conversition as a means of saving your soul, but as an alternative to death or slavery. You may refuse to convert – and if you actively resist, you die. If you do not resist the Uhkwhane al-Islam, you can get by with paying extra taxes and having fewer rights. However, you can only get away with this if you are Jewish or Christian. The Jewish part has gotten eroded by the more fanatical Islamists who skip right to the last parts of the Koran and ignore the earlier parts. If you are athiest, animist, Hindu, or anything else – you have no rights whatsoever and are either dead or enslaved. The ongoing bitter fight in Kashmir is related to that. [Also the Hinu were none too thrilled by their Islamic rulers of the past]
Islam is much more secular, ironically, about how it wants to mold Earthly behavior. Jesus said his Kingdom was not of this world. Not so with Islam.
