Pub crawling [cranky-d]

Over at the PW pub, Andrew has put up a post that I think speaks for many of us. On Bush and the “Na na na na, hey hey hey, goodbye” thing:

You just had to, didn’t you? You couldn’t just enjoy your victory, couldn’t just let the man slip away beneath the radar of your Profound and Righteous Contempt. You had to channel your inner adolescent and flip him one last bird, just in case we haven’t been privy, with diamond clarity, to your exact opinions on the matter. You just had to get in that final kick.

Many on the left have shown a singular lack of grace in the past few days as we have transitioned from Bush to Obama. I suppose it should be no surprise since they have shown this lack during the last eight years. The fact that the party leader shows this same deficiency, as Dan noted, is something relatively new to politics, but when one steps back to take it all in, not particularly surprising.

I have still not decided how to respond to these developments. If I were the type to obey orders from my “intellectual betters” I guess it would be easier, since someone else would decide for me, but I tend to have a lack of trust in the judgement of others, and the lack of trust is usually well-placed.

I find it more and more difficult to avoid vitriol, but I also don’t want to waste the energy on hate. I definitely plan on pointing out every broken promise to the Obamatrons, though, because their whiny tears will taste so sweet.

And be aware that they are already starting to reframe and deny the BDS and the hatred.

I would quote that comment in an update, but I don’t want to give it the satisfaction.

And no H’s pried off any keyboards.

  4. dicentra says:

Just compare it to what happened when Clinton left office. Who engaged in puerile, sore-loser behavior? Hint: not the winning Republicans…

  5. Topsecretk9 says:

Contrary to what you right wing extremists think, most lefties saw Bush as an amiable dunce along the lines of Reagan.

Hating Bush would be like hating Forest Gump.

    OMG BMoe.

Vegetables aren’t known for their capacity to retain information.

  6. Jeffersonian says:

Snippy and thor are the future of the Democratic Party: Snarling, hyper-politicized, barbaric. Scions of the ’60s.

  7. Topsecretk9 says:

Who engaged in puerile, sore-loser behavior? Hint: not the winning Republicans…

Also, recall Clinton’s press conference and just inability to leave the limelight capitol that day?

  8. Topsecretk9 says:

I bet Laura and George didn’t purloin the WH pool table.

  9. B Moe says:

Tuberhead is definitely a lifer, thor is a slave to fashion. When Obama goes out of style he will be looking for the New Next Big Thing to latch on to.

  10. comatus says:

Jeffersonian, someone has to say it. I knew Scions of the ’60s. For good or ill, some Scions of the ’60s were friends of mine. And Snippy and thor, my friends, are no Scions of the ’60s. Thank you.

  11. james wilson says:

Before Clinton and Carter, there were no former Presidents who ran their mouths. And certainly no Republicans. Well, Teddy did it, but he’d be a Democrat today.
Looks like it’s a feature of bad taste that is here to stay–for the liberal. Can anyone imagine Bam ever going away?

  12. meya says:

“You couldn’t just enjoy your victory”

    That was enjoying the victory.

  13. mcgruder says:

Politics aside, it is difficult to believe that people such as this are fundamentally good people. The kind that if you knew them, they would always try and help out, or even, if you didn’t.
I’m not sure I share a lot politically with many around here, but I can’t see Darleen, Carin or DiCentra, Bmoe, Ric,Dan and Jeff, Serr8d and JD, taking pleasure from the clear suffering of others. If they were driving and came upon Thor or Parsnip in distress, they’d help; I have no confidence in the opposite.

we all look and sound like idiots from time to time on the net, but I sense there is something that is missing from the posts of many anti-GOP’ers. I had long been annoyed or amused by BDS, but I had never expected it to have real world application.

  14. Salt Lick says:

Thing is, dicentra, they deny it’s puerile, or bad behavior. One of our trolls often says his hate is justified by what America did to black people before Obi Wan was elected. So they define what they’re doing as “justice.”

There’s no way to get through them people because they’re speaking a different language. Or as Jeff often said, “black is white, up is down.”

  15. B Moe says:

Enjoying another’s defeat is not the same as enjoying victory, meya.

  16. Rusty says:

    That was enjoying the victory.

    Lotta class, this broad.

  17. SDN says:

mcgruder, I’d be happy to stop and help you, or any random stranger, but when it comes to thorsnip, I’ve just flat run out of cheeks to turn.

At some point since 2001, I’ve reached the same point that Sam Adams did. thorsnip and everyone like it are “no longer my countrymen.”

  18. Bob Reed says:

When speaking to lefties, after noting that I wish O! no ill and hope that he does good for our nation, I take some satisfaction in casually referring to the one! as “our new Chimperor”…

When the fur starts flying I innocently ask them what the fuss is all about; after all, isn’t that how they referred to Boooooosh!…

None of them seem to get it, but it’s good for a few laughs…

    All hail Chimperor ObaMussoliniSoros!

  19. Carin says:

“You couldn’t just enjoy your victory”

    That was enjoying the victory.

See, sadly that is the crux of it. How do you celebrate the dawning of “Hope and Change”? Without realizing it, leftists retreat to Bush-bashing because their Hope and Change is nothing but a great Marketing slogan.

  20. meya says:

“Enjoying another’s defeat is not the same as enjoying victory, meya.”

    Dubya wasn’t defeated.

  21. AKA Pablo says:

    Dubya wasn’t defeated.

    Tell your friends, would you?

  22. AKA Pablo says:

At some point since 2001, I’ve reached the same point that Sam Adams did.

Be careful with that, SDN. That’s an unfortunately worded headline, ain’t it?

  23. meya says:

“Without realizing it, leftists retreat to Bush-bashing because their Hope and Change is nothing but a great Marketing slogan.”

Because there can be only one thing on people’s minds. They can’t think hope and change at one time and then at another time be glad to see the end of the Bush era.

  24. JD says:

mcgruder – Thank you, and you are likely correct.

It should come as no surprise that the Leftists like meya, H.B., thor, and turnip/sniffles/alphie have acted with a complete lack of class. Learning how to win graciously is not something they have ever been taught, and that is a shame. It is a characteristic that tells much about a person.

  25. Rob Crawford says:

Tuberhead is definitely a lifer, thor is a slave to fashion. When Obama goes out of style he will be looking for the New Next Big Thing Man On A White Horse to latch on to.

    FTFY.

Seriously, the way the Obamatons react, I don’t think they’re capable of understanding government at any level above a monarchy. They blame Bush for everything because they really think it was all the result of his decisions, and they expect Obama to have the same level of power.

I wonder what their reactions will be when bad things happen on Obama’s watch. Will they treat everything as his fault, as they did with Bush? Will they shift blame to “wreckers” and “traitors”? Will they demand a “strong leader” to “keep events in hand”? Will they combine all the above?

  26. JD says:

They will blame Bush, Rob. Baracky started doing so in his inaugural address, and that is just the beginning.

  27. Richard Aubrey says:

I expect to indulge in some ODS. Not much. Just enough to get the O’s crawling, sniveling supporters to try to tell me why it’s a bad idea. That should be fun.

“Politics aside, it is difficult to believe that people such as this are fundamentally good people. The kind that if you knew them, they would always try and help out, or even, if you didn’t.”

They aren’t good people. I live in a district that votes 90+ percent Democrat. I work for a company that is liberal hippy central from top to bottom. When I look at my really hardcore liberal neighbors and co-workers, I know that they wouldn’t p!ss on you if you were on fire. (Plus, they’re the worse energy-wasters I’ve ever seen, for all their “Go green” maundering.)
