Blagorahma [Dan Collins]

Fortunately, folks like Ed Morrissey aren’t letting the issue just fade away:

Could Blagojevich and his legal team be sending a message to Barack Obama? Take me down, and some of your team will go with me. It sounds like the Chicago way, a strategy that Blagojevich might employ. Who would know the dirt better than Blagojevich? Unfortunately, Obama can’t do much to call off the dogs now even if he wanted to do so, thanks to the very public action taken against Blagojevich ten days ago by Patrick Fitzgerald.

For Emanuel and Obama, this once again strongly suggests that the incoming administration has not yet been fully truthful about the extent of their knowledge of Blagojevich’s corruption. After all, no one expected Obama and Emanuel to have no interest in Obama’s replacement, and Emanuel could have said right from the start that he had spoken with Blagojevich to discuss the various options — and that he either heard nothing about pay-for-play demands or that he notified the feds when he did. Instead, Emanuel has apparently discovered Dick Cheney’s undisclosed location for the holidays and Team Obama has to keep refining its denials.

Something fishy is going on here, and Emanuel acts like he has something to hide.

No inappropriate contact.

UPDATE: Blagojevich sought PETCO position.

I mean does any of this really matter? I have spoken to some of his “followers” and they willingly swallow anything he says. You can even point out how his chief of staff is on record saying he ran the guys campaign in 2002 and how Axlerod is on youtube saying “yeah him and Blago spoke several times about his replacement” and it doesn’t phase them. It is all some “distraction” or “smear”.

  2. Bob Reed says:

Blagojevich is definately sending O! a message that not ony do the “ordinary” Chacago rules of corruption and connivance apply here, but the “special” Chicago rules are in force since Blago can, you know, name names and all that, and just might have some of O!^Co. by the proverbial short hairs…

But, if I’m not mistaken, since O! is President-elect, and this now effects events in DC, that the terminology should always relate the “special” Chicago rules to the Dean-esque Watergate axiom; if I’m going down, I’m taking everyone else with me…

And, of course, in the course of all this we must re-visit Watergate’s most famous query; What did O! know, and when did he know it!

  3. Mr. Pink says:

It doesn’t matter is my point. You can have O! on tape talking to the guy and all he would have to do is “rephrase” his prior talking points and his followers would snort it up their nose with a dollar bill.

  4. Mossberg500 says:

My prediction is Gov. Blagojevich will have a reality TV show by the fall of 2009.

  5. Mr. Pink says:

He probably will be re-elected. I mean if Murtha can call his own constituents racists and get reelected then anything is possible.

  6. BJTexs says:

So they are saying that Rahm may have lied? Shocka! Also: The Sky is Blue. Taxes are due in April. JD hates him some short people.

  7. Big D says:

Isn’t this all just a distraction? I mean Barky already cleared himself and Barnicle Boy’s “instincts” tell us that it is so. This is doing nothing to put fresh fruit on my table. Have you seen the friggin price of mangoes at Whole Foods lately? Scandalous!

  8. JD says:

Meanwhile, I want them to start delivering on that free gas and help with my mortgage payment.

  9. Mr. Pink says:

No he did not lie. He just said “no contacts” which in O! world means he didn’t personally speak to the guy. Sending his Chief of Staff out to provide Blago with a list of acceptable candidates counts as no contact. Really it does. Also now that he has “refined” his words again to “no inappropriate” contact he can just say they furnished Blago with a list. Also R. Emanuel has came out and said he “misspoke” when he said that him and O! had helped get Blago elected. See that clears everything up right? Sad thing is that will work on 99% of O! supporters.

  10. Mossberg500 says:

Or midget. I don’t know what he’s called exactly. But, uh, he’s a little guy. Little Billy Barty. God rest. But thin fingers. Not the fat sausage fingers. …

    Holy lack of shit, Batman!

Of course, they haven’t yet been really truthful about much of anything, have they?

  12. Mr. Pink says:

As some on here would say the nuance it burns!!!!

  13. alppuccino says:

I’ll be looking for occurrences of “verily, I say unto you” in Obama’s inaugo speech.

  14. Techie says:

I’m waiting for a “Yea, verily, yea” moment from the press.

“Who would know the dirt better than Blagojevich?”

    Daley?

Man, I so want Daley dragged into this. That would be tops!
