Falk = Actor who had a great early career, and is, ironically, best known for his TV show late in life…
Murtha = Mendacious poser and great racist, classist, and America hater. The Marines at Haditha were engaged in vicious house-to-house fighting and did not comitt any criminal acts. That Von Clausewitz fog of war thing and all…
Wim Wenders used Falk pretty well, I think. And Falk, to his credit, used Wenders right back. Falk’s work in the original “The In-laws” was outstanding as well, at least as I remember it. Haven’t seen that film in a long time.
I’d really like to think the thing is an act where he gets two crucial witnesses to lower their guards and talk about a recent murder more than they should……..
Can we never compare these two men ever again? It’s not fair to either one of them.
John Murtha is despicable beyond measure. He continues to get reelected because his district has gotten used to the barges full of pork he brings in.
Back to Peter Falk, “Murder by Death” is a movie in which Peter Falk shines among a terrific cast.
Quotable lines: Falk’s starts at around the 1:30 – the Falk/gay-transvestite stuff is a bit later (really!)

Just one more thing…
Love Falk in “the Great Race” as side-kick to Jack Lemmon
Falk’s work in his early career was very strong. His later stuff couldn’t hold a candle to it. I’m sorry to hear this.
Very sorry to hear this.
Falk made a career out of playing a genius pretending to be an idiot.
Sort of the anti-thor, one might say.
I’ll never forget reading Crime and Punishment in my senior year of high school, and having the realization that Petrovich = Columbo.
‘Twas about the only thing that allowed me to slog through the rest of the book.
