Oops [Dan Collins]

Unintended consequences

Stolen via Beth

From David Thompson comes a look into the staggering triumphs of government-subsidized artist Camilla Vestergaard:

Quite a few people came and wrote on the car, including two middle-aged women whose conservative attire stood out in the crowd. It wasn’t until later, when a commotion arose, that I saw that they had written “FUCK THE POLICE!” in large bold letters on the drivers’ side of the car… Everybody was incredibly excited about the idea and the atmosphere was full of seriousness, concentration and humour. FUCK THE POLICE had legitimized a liberty where people could express themselves without reservation, and when I left the park, the car was covered in text. With the addition of FUCK THE POLICE, the car had developed into a place where it was permitted to express oneself against power…

Raphael was a piker.

From JD:

Call a Hippie

So, y’know, next time this chick has an installation, don’t forget to bring the spray paint.

Six months on the government’s Kroner and all she has to show for it is a vadalized car?

thor is too cowardly to ever do such a thing.

He talks a big game, but won’t ever deliver.

    Just like Obama.

  4. I’d think nishi’d be the more likely suspect.

  5. Spies, Brigands, and Pirates says:

I’d lay odds that nishi has a higher testosterone level, anyway.

  6. Spies, Brigands, and Pirates says:

BTW, I’m pretty sure these folks linked from that Thompson piece (or a group very much like them) were on campus here a couple of years back.

Even the hardcore moonbats had a WHAT THE FUCK! reaction. I think they were expecting a leftoid Swan Lake or something of that nature.

  7. Spies, Brigands, and Pirates says:

Looks like headlongandrew is still soliciting video clips for his ongoing piece.

Maybe I’ll send him a clip of me spanking off to Bush’s speech and see if he uses it.

  8. Revvy says:

    Head, meet desk.

This is why I hesitate to call myself an artist rather than an illustrator. ‘Artist’ brings these types to mind.

  9. Darleen says:

    Revvy

my youngest daughter is an artist, too… however, she’s majoring in Business-Advertising/Marketing so I’m sure people Vestergaard would sneer at her as “sell out” … but she’ll be earning a living rather than a welfare check government grant.

And to think I wasted my education in the hard sciences when I could expanding human experience and getting paid for it to boot.

I was at a majorty-women’s college. One day, in the field where artists installed their pieces, there were all these bloody torsos of women. Headless, armless, legless women, with big boobs, covered in “blood.” I was outraged. Went up to the artist and asked “What the FUCK???”

She says, “I’m representing how men look at women.”

The two guys with me rolled their eyes. She was too much of an idiot, we could see, for us to bother dealing with.

  12. Spies, Brigands, and Pirates says:

I’d have asked her how they were supposed to do housework with no arms and legs.

  13. ushie says:

Hah! Or where you were supposed to rest your beer…
