  2. JohnAnnArbor says:

It’s as if the Mugabe folks really, really hate black people.

After all, it’s demonstrable that they are many, many times worse than Rhodesia’s government ever was.

  3. Bob Reed says:

Mugabe has simply run out of eeeeeeeeeevil racist white people in Zimbabwe to blame for his problems. It’s typical trick in an attempt to get as much of the population to believe and support him as possible, after being abused by the man for as long as they have been…

And, Mugabe probably believes that by blaming some non-existent straw men of racism he would also gain support from the international community; at least from the suspicious members who respond to knee-jerk accusations that affirm nefarious activities by outside agents that they already believe to be happening…

I’m sure that Jerimiah Wright and the whitey-hatin’ segment of the US Black community is believeing this all the way…

Besides, it’s one of the ways that he appealed to folks in his rise to power; that and the typical values of the “peoples revolution”…

We all can see how that’s working for them now!

And, get used to a Black national leader accusing his political opponents of RAAAAAAAACISM!
Because it’s going to start happening around here soon; say, oh, January 21st…

Day after day I listen to reports about Zimbabwe on BBC World Service. They have this odd feeling of being separated from reality, in that they treat Zimbabwe as a political problem, to be dealt with by reasonable people negotiating issues over lunch.

Left out of the picture is the murderous brute who’s been slicing up his country’s citizens, lo these many years.

All that will relieve Zimbabwe’s plight is Mugabe’s departure, dead or alive.

By the way, were the natives to be given the choice between Rhodesia and Zimbabwe, what would they choose, do you think, right now?

    Filthy socialist failure parasites.

  6. Jeffersonian says:

  7. Mikey NTH says:

Since cholera is spread through feces contamination of the water supply, it isn’t surprising that Rev. Wright got this gig.

The people of Zimbabwe don’t need sober analysis from lefty media types – they need rifles and bullets.

  8. Sdferr says:

In Muggie’s case MikeyNTH, I think a well-sharpen stick would do the job.

  9. Jeffersonian says:

Bobby stuck it to The Man. That’s why they love him so. By “they” I mean ofay Western southpaws.

  10. happyfeet says:

Besides Mugabe South Africa is a lot more responsible for Zimbabwe than anyone else I think. They’re not a force for good in the world I don’t care what Oprah thinks.

  11. Jeffersonian says:

Mandela was a statesman, but I think he was the last South Africa will see for some time. It’ll be Zimbabwe in another generation.

I’d like to clarify this hastily written line from earlier. When Rhodesia existed, racism was a problem along with the hierarchical society. Indeed, these conditions made it much easier for reactionary notions of communism to ultimately take hold. Naturally, and understandably, it was one of the political rallying ideas employed by Mugabe in the mid ’70s…

The situation is faaaaar different now, and it is ironic and absurd for Mugabe to search for racists outside Zimbabwe. And of all the western nations, the UK has most aggresively and wholeheartedly adopted the multicultural ethos; much to her detriment and that of her traditional culture…

So clearly what I meant was that while racism was a valid assertion in the 1970’s, it is risibly pathetic in 2008…

I know that you all wouldn’t necessarily think me a racist, but just in case anyone might have wished to, you know, denounce me

    Best Wishes

Cholera is easily preventable (don’t shit in your drinking water, as Mikey said) and nearly 100% treatable. Quite cheaply, too. All you need to do is make sure the patient consumes enough water and electrolyes to replace the fluids lost in the truly epic diarrhea that’s the primary symptom. It doesn’t have to be IV, even… oral replacements (like the PediaLyte that’s sold in this country) are fine. Or even a dry packet of mineral salts and sugar that can be mixed with (clean) water on the spot.

If people are dying, it’s because Mugabe’s thugocracy hasn’t spent the few cents per patient that it would take to treat them.

  14. Spies, Brigands, and Pirates says:

    Oral rehydration therapy.

    It’s a time for love I thought.

The problem is that is more like a couple of billion dollars over there.

Kenya’s Prime Minister Raila Odinga said African countries should force him from power.

That Raila, what a kidder. He tells the best ethnic jokes.

  18. Carin says:

In his comments to media in Harare, Mr Ndlovu likened the appearance of cholera in Zimbabwe to a “serious biological chemical weapon” used by the British.

Erm, now how does that work? Some UK soldier was sent in to crap in their water?

  19. Spies, Brigands, and Pirates says:

    SDS, Special Defecating Service.

From breadbasket to basketcase in a single generation.

  21. MarkD says:

At some point, and I am definitely not blaming Zimbabwe, you think humanity would wise up. Whenever somebody comes along to give you something that belongs to somebody else, it never works out.

Those who fail history will repeat it, school or not.

  22. Mr. Pink says:

Well they are not giving you something from someone else for nothing. They either want your vote, your tacit approval of whatever they are doing, or they want you to accept them as the ones in charge.

  23. SDN says:

    Kipling always says it well:

As it will be in the future, it was at the birth of Man —
There are only four things certain since Social Progress began —
That the Dog returns to his Vomit and the Sow returns to her Mire,
And the burnt Fool’s bandaged finger goes wabbling back to the Fire —
And that after this is accomplished, and the brave new world begins
When all men are paid for existing and no man must pay for his sins
As surely as Water will wet us, as surely as Fire will burn
The Gods of the Copybook Headings with terror and slaughter return!
