for happy feet [Dan Collins]

An image driven by the metaphor of Ron Howard:

65 Replies to “for happy feet [Dan Collins]”

  1. B Moe says:

I hope someday one of the plumbers comes out an explains what the hell that was all about, because it has never really made any sense at all to me.

  2. Sdferr says:

That Dalleck guy has even less excuse to be so retarded since he wasn’t required to perform the soul warping “Gary, Indiana” as a little kid.

  3. kelly says:

I can barely wait for all the courageous auteurs to make films about the constitution-shredding excesses of the Obama administration for doing the exact same thing as Bushco.

  4. alppuccino says:

“I am the change. Me. I am all the change you’re gonna need………………………….

someone has touched my robe. I felt some power go out of me. Now what was I saying? Oh yeah, change.”

  5. Huey says:

I wonder if they will be serving pork at the truth, justice, re-education and reconciliation camps or if they will be vegan. I guess it depends on how much Robert Byrd has invested in hog farms.

  6. slackjawedyokel says:

    I blame parental irresponsibility.
Andy should have beat the crap out of Opie when he killed the mama bird with his slingshot.

  7. The gruel at re-education camp had better be vegan, organic, and locally shade-grown.

  8. JohnAnnArbor says:

    Will it be halal?

  9. Sticky B says:

This is what happens when you let your cute little boys grow up to be incredibly fucking dorky lookin’ middle aged men. Somebody put a buttplug in Bobby Brady’s piehole stat!

  10. happyfeet says:

The man who gave us Cocoon has given more than enough I think. But it’s kind of ironic that this college dropout has made more off of 24 than I’ll see in my life yet reveals absolutely no comprehension of the show’s premise. What this reminds me of kinda is that after 9/11 all the studios increased security – mirrors under the car – the whole bit – in the narcissistic belief that somehow America would be terrorized if these narcissistic fags got blowed up. As if. Ron needs to understand that he is irrelevant to discussions of national security. Reality and melodrama are very very different, except on MSNBC. Go with what you know, Ron.

  11. Sdferr says:

Go with what you know, Ron.

Which I would suggest to Ron might be a revealing exposé of the life and times of Robert Preston.

  12. Jeffersonian says:

They can convince themselves of damn near anything, can’t they?

  13. kelly says:

Of course they can. They’re artist struggling under the jackboots of the Bush Reich. Why, if it weren’t for them, no one would have any idea how evil W really is! Their courage should be applauded.

[eyes welling up in misty admiration…]

  14. DarthRove says:

Leftards carping about how eeeeevil the fascist jackbooted Boosh regime is remind me of the Witch Trial scene from Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

We’ve found a jackbooted fascist thug, may we impeach him?

How do you know he’s a fascist thug?

Well, he had me shot in the ‘ead for voicing my dissent!

    …>crickets chirping<…

    got better…

  15. Salt Lick says:

That picture you drew, Dan — that’s “poopie,” not “Opie.”

    Oh, wait…

  16. McGehee says:

    It’s she-poopie.

The one who’s hard to get.

  17. daleyrocks says:

    I love odiferous shit.

    What am I missing there?

  18. Sdferr says:

daleyrocks, missing (maybe) the unfortunate resemblance of the steaming pile to a Hershey’s Kiss?

  19. dicentra says:

    and historian Robert Dallek

Never trust anyone whose name sounds like a genocidal race of salt shakers.

  20. parsnip says:

    Is that soft serve?

  21. Gilgamesh says:

“I think to compare what Nixon did, and the abuses of power for pure political self-preservation, to George W. Bush trying to protect this country — even if you disagree with rendition or waterboarding — it seems to me is both a gross misreading of history both then and now,” Mr. Wallace said.”

‘Pure political self-preservation’ is just as appropriate for Bush, as for Nixon if you consider the ‘Hive’ mentality of conservatives.

In the guise of ‘National Security’, in which Iraq was already under rhetorical attack before 9/11, more harm has been done by this admin than even the most cynical, could imagine. But one thing they can’t be blamed for entirely (although, as enablers they certainly facilitated the disaster), is the Economy.

That’s where the Hive mentality of Regulation and Taxophobes since Reagan have undermined not just the Economy, but institutions and core infrastructure, leaving us more exposed to those freedom haters
the GWOT was supposed to eradicate.

Instead, we have the economic meltdown (which was the original stated goal of Al Qaeda) by attacking our financial epicenter in New York.

No, there is no comparison between Bush and Nixon because the former make the criminals of the Nixon Crew seem like the Apple Dumpling Gang.

One Bright Note; I expect the Christmas Season will have us all focused on the Holiday, and we will barely hear about Libby’s Pardon.

The Bright spot is that Bush can’t pardon anyone after he leaves the WH, and any further indictments that follow will be out of his hamster-handed reach, including Hisself.

  22. Gilgamesh says:

    BTW;

    Goldbrick;

In case you forgot, Gilgamesh and Semanticleo are one and the same

  23. Enkidu says:

This is not the Gilgamesh that I knew.

  24. Odin says:

I know what you mean, Beast-Man.

  25. Odin says:

    Or is that Man-Beast?

  26. Odin says:

In any event, Ashtarte says “Hi,” and hopes you’ll let bygones be bygones.

  27. Spies, Brigands, and Pirates says:

As long as nishi doesn’t start pretending to be Shamhat.

    ‘Cuz that would be icky.

  28. Mikey NTH says:

Baron Wulfenbach is not going to be pleased with Gilgamesh.

  29. B Moe says:

    The hive mentality of conservatives?

  30. kelly says:

Poor semenstain. His life savings have been halved to $37.35 because of Bushitler and his henchmen.

  31. B Moe says:

But seriously, Dan, you might want to be careful with that imagery.
    Did you forget this?

  32. N. O'Brain says:

“…if you consider the ‘Hive’ mentality of conservatives.”

Oh, seman, you are so fucking incredibly stupid that it stuns the brain to read your dreck.

The hive mind you seek resides on the reactionary left, that thundering mindless herd of independent thinkers, that swarm of individualistic lemmings.

    Like you, for example.

    BTW, do you speak English?

  33. J."Trashman" Peden says:

In case you forgot, Gilgamesh and Semanticleo are one and the same

Thanks for clearing that up. I was still trying to make any sense at all out of the post and decided to see if anyone else could.

  34. Mikey NTH says:

In case you forgot, Gilgamesh and Semanticleo are one and the same

    Agatha should be warned.

  35. lee says:

    The hive mentality of conservatives?

I guess all that talk of rugged individualism went unnoticed B Moe.

Big surprise, it would be easier to convince AQ that Mohammad frowns on setting off bombs in his name, than getting seman to understand what classic liberals believe.

I’m not a psychiatrist, but I think there is a clinical name for the deficiency.

  36. Rob Crawford says:

I’m not a psychiatrist, but I think there is a clinical name for the deficiency.

    “Brain death”

  37. J."Trashman" Peden says:

    #37

That one cleared the whole Stadium!

  38. CGHill says:

    #16 McGehee

    Trouble in River City?

  39. Gilgamesh says:

“I guess all that talk of rugged individualism went unnoticed B Moe.”

“Rugged Individualism’ cannot be noticed in it’s absence.

It’s like giving a ‘steaming pile’ another name, the smell is the same.

But i did notice, by your own conflation, that there is no daylight which peers through the so-called separation of ‘classic liberal’ and conservative.

    Same smell…..

  40. lee says:

    Yeah, yeah, whatever seman.

“Hive mentality” has been used here often to describe the Lieberman ousting proggs. To try and reverse it’s application is just pathetic.

  41. N. O'Brain says:

    “Same smell…..”

So, what crawled up your ass and died?

  42. McGehee says:

    Trouble in River City?

    Well, yeah.

Buddy Hackett singing is usually not a good sign.

  43. happyfeet says:

Is anyone gonna go see this stupid movie? I have one report where I have to pick the likely hit movies and this one didn’t make the cut. It’s no Speed Racer that’s for sure.

  44. Gilgamesh says:

You conservatives all think alike, and the ones who say they don’t think alike are just pretending to have different opinions. I know conservatives all think alike because Jon Stewart said so and everyone agrees with him.

  45. happyfeet says:

A dramatic retelling of the post-Watergate television interviews between British talk-show host David Frost and former president Richard Nixon.

actually if I remember this one might just be doing a limited release at first to do the Oscar qualifying thing so usually I don;t worry about those

  46. happyfeet says:

all i can find is it’s exclusive on 12/5, which is less than limited usually… so likely it’ll be 2009 before people can decide to not see this stupid movie

  47. happyfeet says:

oh. link … also they’re making Land of the Lost as a Will Farrell comedy? That feel really wrong to me. Exploitative I think.

  48. happyfeet says:

oh. *feels* I mean. Sleestaks aren’t comic relief. Stuff of nightmares is what they are.

  49. Sdferr says:

Nightmares hf? How often will it be necessary to curse Susan Collins and Olympia Snow, kick the dirt and spit the next two years? Over/under, anybody?

  50. happyfeet says:

Arlen too I think. You know what sucks? Senators. Sleestaks every one of them.

    Except the ones I like.

  51. Sdferr says:

Oorg, Arlen……cripes hf, now I’ll have try to sleep with that idiot lurking behind every imaginary door, ready to jump out with his “ooggadda-boogada I-was-a-prosecutorism aren’t I noble?” schtick at any moment.

  52. happyfeet says:

That’s so him. I heard the other day he was trying to talk big on how opposey he would get on Holder and he just didn;t sell it I didn’t think. I have thumbs more opposey than he is.

  53. happyfeet says:

    ok just go with that

  54. jack klompus says:

    21. No parsnippy it’s a picture of your brain!

  55. B Moe says:

Chambliss clobbered Martin. Does that mean Obama isn’t President of Georgia?
    http://www.wsbtv.com/politics/feature.html

  56. B Moe says:

… also they’re making Land of the Lost as a Will Farrell comedy? That feel really wrong to me.

You could have left the title blank and I would agree with that completely. Will Farrell needs to go away.

  57. Sdferr says:

I think in Obama’s world Putin is President of Georgia, B Moe.

  58. B Moe says:

I figured we were gonna get screwed one way or another.

  59. geoffb says:

“I hope someday one of the plumbers comes out an explains what the hell that was all about, because it has never really made any sense at all to me.”

    B Moe, two books.
Silent Coup by Len Colodny and Robert Gettlin
    and
    Secret Agenda by Jim Hougan

You will still have questions but they will be of a completely different matter. The things that happened aren’t nearly so fantastic now as we have seen them play out in the same kind of political “Strange Loop”.

  60. geoffb says:

“You conservatives all think alike, and the ones who say they don’t think alike are just pretending to have different opinions. I know conservatives all think alike because Jon Stewart said so and everyone agrees with him.”

    That’s a keeper.

  61. Rusty says:

Gilgamesh is funny. GWB committed crimes in office, but a democratic dominated house and senate did not impeach him , for these crimes.
What crimes Gilgamesh? Give me the name of one citizen who has been unjustly tried or imprisoned.

  62. Carin says:

I’ll prolly avoid Ron’s movie, but I just heard that they’re finally releasing Shooting Micheal Moore which was done by a guy that grew up with him in Flint. Very small production – but it was released in Miami and did great. It opens in Detroit soon.

  63. Carin says:

could have left the title blank and I would agree with that completely. Will Farrell needs to go away.

Say what you will, but I loved “Elf”. Also, that other movie where he and his friends start a fraternity. Him running down the street nekkid cracks me up.

  64. Salt Lick says:

All the progs I know remain in a state of BDS rage in spite the election of Friend of Bill.

One of them, a grouchy old fart — a former department head — has slapped nasty, anonymous post-it notes on the locker of a fellow who questioned Obama’s readiness for POTUS. Same prick got in my face a couple of weeks ago, too, when I tried to have a civil conversation about the challenges O faces.

It’s hard to break the hate thing.
