final presidential debate open thread

Short of McCain’s stopping in mid debate to look Obama directly in the eye and inform him that “the handsome suit I’m wearing this evening is made from the skin of Mark Rudd, and my tie is the tongue of Bernadine Dohrne,” I don’t think it much matters — though I suppose there’s always the chance Obama might slip up and answer a question about taxes with, “bitches best have my money!”

At least were there a conservative on the panel we might get an inadvertant “you can’t be fucking serious…” But alas, conservatism/classical liberalism has become to the GOP the equivalent of forgetting to wear your flag pin during a Sean Hannity interview.

Commence your despair, wingnuts! THE END IS NEAR!

****
Jeff’s thoughts: Obama wins by virtue of not being forcibly escorted from the stage in handcuffs and leg irons.

— Which means that, sadly, his stay at the Hanoi Hilton wasn’t to be the last time John McCain will be beaten by a communist.

Despair? Nah I save that for the losers that sit around waiting for the government to give them a handout or to provide any solution to a real world problem. I think I will just cast my vote, bitch about either outcome, and continue with my life.

Take off the gloves big Mac!

  10. Spies, Brigands, and Pirates says:

    N. O’B: down in one of the other threads there’s discussion of alternate means of selecting political leaders (given your name, I’m sure you remember that The Admiral had some interesting thoughts about that).

I suggest that anyone who answers anything other than in the Asch experiment described in Zombie’s piece should be disqualified for public office, indeed, any position of responsibility whatsoever.

    Thank you for the link.

  11. Rob Crawford says:

Me, I’m sitting here, holding a fork, waiting for word that McCain went after Obama for his long-running associations with lunatic anti-Americans.

  23. RTO Trainer says:

I’m really offended by these “rules” Interesting that the Commission is funded in a manner very like PBS–explains a lot. How is Caroline Kennedy on the debate commission and was leading BO’s Veep search?

  24. Mr. Pink says:

Why don’t we skip the middle men and just have Obama’s campaign staff ask the questions, provide the commentary, and give the post debate analysis. It is only fair.

  25. Rob Crawford says:

Ya know, back in grade school — around 7th grade, I believe — we had a section of some class or the other on propaganda techniques. What zombie’s describing is the “bandwagon” technique: “everybody’s doing it! do you really want to be the outsider?!”

I don’t understand why this hasn’t been obvious to more people: when the results of polls are published, the polls are intended to push who ever’s “ahead”, not tell us anything about what people are thinking. When you want accurate polling, you don’t release the results: if you do, you skew the results of the next poll.

It’s quite disheartening to see so many people who pride themselves on their education, intelligence, and free-thinking to so easily fall for, and indulge in, such basic propaganda techniques. Is it because they want to be fooled?

Think of it as a new beginning. Strong backs will be needed in our vast new arugula-farming collectives.

Reactionary hooligans will be dealt with accordingly.

  28. I hope this one isn’t a snoozer.

Does anyone else wish Fred Thompson was in this thing right now?

  33. oh, sorry, guys. I’ve been w*rking today. har har.

  34. wonder what Romney is all worked up about.

  35. Sdferr says:

Rudy, in his appearances on TV on McCain’s behalf has been by far the best rhetorician on the scene right now. He would destroy Obama one on one.

  36. dre says:

    Code Pink protester on stage.

  37. Who’s gonna need to wØrk? We’ve daddy gub’mint to take care of it all.

  38. RTO Trainer says:

Piss on you, yout “test” and your ping f’ing scarf, beyotch.

  39. Sdferr says:

In fact, I’ve been thinking that it is a problem that McCain can’t think (ask questions) like a lawyer.

  40. RTO Trainer says:

How about Britt Hume or Charles Krauthammer moderating one of these? Would that be so wrong?

  41. dre says:

I have the sound turned down: is Bob doing a Depends commercial?

  42. you aren’t even drinking yet, RTO. was it all the sewer gas today?

  43. Sdferr says:

  45. RTO Trainer says:

Sdferr–we’re sharing a couch and an internet connection now.

  46. oh, Sdferr, we’ve got a whole house. that smells. like sewer.

  47. Darleen says:

    Mr. Pink

You should see the trolls on my own blogsite… I’m a “beast”, Sarah and Todd are “horrible parents” and any criticism of The One is “ODS”.

  48. RTO Trainer says:

Time for staring at the teleprompter……

  49. dre says:

Bob’s ears are as big as O!’s

  50. Darleen says:

    BTW

Jesse Jackson is so confident of an Obama win, he dusted off his anti-Semitism

  51. Sdferr says:

Funny, that’s what I figured. Least wise a hotel might smell better, though I can’t say about RTO, I’ll leave that to you Maggie.

  52. RTO Trainer says:

    ODS? That should be ODD.

  53. Darleen says:

Well, at least this time the moderator looks older than McCain

  54. RTO Trainer says:

We’ve already sunk to taking shots at personal hygiene? Doesn’t bode well.

  55. Sdferr says:

Just pulling your leg, RTO, easy.

  56. Mr. Pink says:

What is it with McCain and his deep breaths?

  57. Jim Ryan says:

Jeff, it all goes back to Marx. The lit crit crew was just the proximal cause. Marx wrote the virus:

If one posits plausible non-rational causes of another’s belief about what is good and right, this is sufficient refutation. No examination of the other’s reasons for the belief and no demonstration of the falsity of the belief are necessary.

Most convenient to this epistemological stance is the metaphysical one that no belief about good or right can have any justification or reality. Marx was consistent. He was a nihilist. He didn’t even believe that the belief in the goodness and rightness of communism had any basis.

The virus replicates itself. When it emerges in a natural language, the audience later repeats it. It gets under their skin by subtly disrupting the surety they have in their philosophically unreflective values, by bullying, and by the infliction of guilt. It cripples the intellect of most who are exposed to it. Only the keen, stalwart, and uncommonly devoted to truth can recover from the exposure. it spreads slowly, however, having taken 150 years to get to this point where the disease is rampant.

  58. Darleen says:

Both candidates are opening with their stock stump lines.

    STOP IT

  59. dre says:

    Great Depression = drink

  60. Darleen says:

A tax credit for every job? What’s that?

  61. MC says:

OK, let’s get past who can be the better statist…

  62. Sdferr says:

McCain let Bob get away with characterizing Obama’s tax cut b.s. – giving credits to non-payers – as a tax cut go unremarked.

  63. shank says:

When your government gives you your job, your home, and your healthcare, aren’t you just a slave? Or at least a serf? An indentured servant working land that’s owned by your government, in return for protection by the government.

Welcome to the new world order people.

  64. Darleen says:

YES he’s bringing up the plumber!!

  65. shank says:

    Oh, the plumber guy.

  66. Matt, Esq. says:

The plumber ? Hey look, McCain’s people do read blogs !

  67. serr8d says:

Here comes the plumber mention. A plumber CRACK?

  68. Matt, Esq. says:

He’s fumbling with the plumber. Like he hasn’t had enough time to prepare.

  69. Mr. Pink says:

His tax cuts will be just like Bill Clinton’s, part of his campaign speeches, not part of his platform.

  70. TmjUtah says:

O is going for the school master gig. Sounds sharp. Lots of Demo talking points, which correspond with the the script delivered this morning…

O’s not going to acknowledge Fannie or Freddie. And unless McCain goes back and drags O! off script, the press will not mention it tomorrow, even.

  71. Sdferr says:

That’s a good thing. But, Joe the plumber should be able to buy his business on his own without McCain’s help.

  72. MC says:

    Good – Joe the plumber!

  73. shank says:

McCain just smiled at his pad. He better bring the funny.

  74. Darleen says:

    oh sh*t there’s that 95% crap again

  75. lee says:

“He’s been watching TV ads of Senator McCain’s”

    Obama isn’t very witty.

  76. MC says:

I think he can buy they business – he just doesn’t want to pay the backbreaking tax burden that already exists…

  77. Matt, Esq. says:

oh here we go. McCain needs to bring up the “anything over 250k per year is a small business” crap Obama was spewing. Its not income Barry, its the ability to generate income for yourselves and others.

  78. Sdferr says:

Here it goes, tax cut for non-payers. Does McCain respond?

  79. Dash Rendar says:

That 95% again, ughh. Please enlighten the man Mac.

  80. Darleen says:

Obama lies, he never said “five years ago” to Joe!! What the fuck is that?

  81. dre says:

    O! you f@@kin liar

  82. shank says:

    Wealth redistribution. Aw yeah!

  83. shank says:

Hit him with the tax stick Johnnie!

  84. TmjUtah says:

O’s math is … quantum. Not applicable in this dimension.

Schoolmaster AND I’m So Much Smarter Than Anyone I DARE You To Contest My Supremacy.

Wow. O!’s team is going for script, script, script.

Oooh. “Spread the wealth”. “Class Warfare”.

McCain is going to be boring. But he’s swinging an axe slowly.

  85. serr8d says:

Good for John! Hammer the tax man!

  86. Matt, Esq. says:

Distribution of wealth. Yes. but McCain fumbles it. I bet Rudy wouldn’t. Its primary reason he was my number one choice. McCain should talk about cutting the capital gains and corporate tax.

  87. Dash Rendar says:

    Obama isn’t very witty.

Co-kai-een-a isn’t so good for the mindbrain.

  88. Darleen says:

Warren Buffet is NOT Joe the plumber!

  89. shank says:

Because Warren Buffet is the only dude who can afford to pay Obama’s taxes.

  90. Sdferr says:

    McCain is behind the curve.

  91. Darleen says:

Did he just say that once joe makes more than 250,000, then tough shit?

  92. sashal says:

    clean your ears, Darleen.
are they biased too, or need eardoctor.

  93. Matt, Esq. says:

The whole problem is, the One can say “I won’t raise taxes” and the msm will not ever vet it, ie look at the tax plan.

  94. TmjUtah says:

O! invokes “my supporter” Warren Buffet.

    Class war. Class war.

    “They can AFFORD….”

FUCK YOU YOU GODDAMN SOCIALIST SHITBAG.

Fuck me. Carter, but with a national machine with a fucking plan right behind him.

    And O! doesn’t mean well…

  95. MC says:

    NOT SPREAD THE WEALTH AROUND!!

  96. Sdferr says:

The price of oil has fallen 50%, Obama. Jesus, where is Exxon’s profit headed today? Down, that’s where.

  97. shank says:

The core invesgtments that make this economy strong? Like pork? If all we paid for was core investments, all we’d be funding through taxes would be schools, fire depts, and police. Give me a break. Core investments!? Like ACORN and CRA? jesus.

  98. serr8d says:

    Point..McCain.

  99. Matt, Esq. says:

As an aside, I think Bob should ask Obama his thoughts on the Guy Ritchie Madonna split.

  100. BRD says:

    WhooHooo!! Budget deficit spending!

  101. Darleen says:

no sashal, Obama said that Joe should have gotten that tax 5 years ago BEFORE he earn’s 250,000.

O tells joe to go pound sand

  102. sashal says:

    McCain won the first question..

  103. BRD says:

Dear Lord I wish someone would do the math on how LONG it would take to go through the budget line by line.

  104. Darleen says:

Um…. did anyone tell Obama the President does NOT have a line item veto?

  105. Betterthanyou says:

good on ya sash. Point for Sheifer too.

  106. serr8d says:

750 Billion should be spent by the time tne next Pres is inaugurated. If it’s to do any good at all.

  107. MC says:

SO what were those cuts Obama?

  108. Sdferr says:

I’d rather the American people got to keep more of their money to make their own investments (but importantly, take their own losses if their risk assessments are wrong).

  109. Darleen says:

Oh cool, Obama is going to make sure everyone exercises and eats right

  110. TmjUtah says:

Schieffer is throwing figures around, which puts him on the O! script.

The problem isn’t numbers. It’s structural.

Obama’s answer… “make sure taxpayers get their money back”. That’s one hell of a turnip truck needed, right there.

    “Line by line, page by page… invest… “. Platitudes. Medicare/Medicaid/Energy Policy/Education.

“Once we get past this crisis…” Barak, under your presidency, there can’t be a “past”. Feauture, not bug.

  111. Matt, Esq. says:

*Dear Lord I wish someone would do the math on how LONG it would take to go through the budget line by line.*

Well when you can be in all places at all times, like the One, time has no real meaning.

  112. serr8d says:

Hey, good strategy, JM mentions Senator [Hillary] Clinton.

    Smell the PUMA!

  113. shank says:

Spending freeze. hell yeah. You want me to fork over tax dollars, then you need to control your spending!

  114. Darleen says:

    Spending freeze

    Hatchet first, scalp second

  115. sashal says:

The CNN lines are a lot better for McCain when he just doesn’t talk

  116. Darleen says:

Wait… McCain gets pressured to name specific programs but O didn’t name a one???

  117. Rob Crawford says:

Have fun with the debate, folks. I just watched “The Happening”, so as to bid adieu to M. Night Shamalamadingdong’s movie career, and now I’m going to climb into bed and read “The Smoke Ring”.

Good God that movie was bad. When Zooey Deschanel isn’t enough to keep my interest, that’s bad. When the highlight of the movie is John Leguizamo climbing out of a wrecked Jeep, unhurt (“Aw! Damn!”), only to sit down and slit his wrist (“All right!”), that’s bad.

  118. shank says:

    Darleen – SHhhh…

  119. Sdferr says:

Milk subsidies. sugar subsidies, farm subsidies in general, out with them!

  120. Darleen says:

    Sashal

CNN “meters” is about gonads, not reflection. Either turn the channel or FOAD.

  121. McCain gets pressured to name specific programs but O didn’t name a one?

    yeah. something vague about Medicare….

  122. sashal says:

I eagerly await McCain’s working Joe the plumber into every answer

  123. MC says:

@112 – Yeah, what are you going to do the next year after you read the first budget?

  124. Sdferr says:

That’s some special “history” there, leaving out 99.99% of it.

  125. BRD says:

Ha! Too late to run against Bush.

  126. dre says:

You should have run 4 years ago O!

  127. Darleen says:

“if you want to run against Bush you should have run 4 years ago”

    POINT MCCAIN! Yes!

  128. psycho... says:

I’m watching a documentary about Vermeer.

All these pictures of white women when I know Obama’s lurking on the other channels are gettin’ my blood angried up.

  129. BRD says:

    Obama’s looking a bit testy, I think.

  130. sashal says:

3-0 philly, bases loaded 2 out.

  131. shank says:

No, not the record! Don’t bring up the record!

  132. Matt, Esq. says:

I eagerly await McCain working Joe the Plumber’s wrench into sashal. Is that wrong ?

  133. Sdferr says:

Oil baby, drill, and drill and drill. Gotta have it. Wanna move a flatbed load of bricks or steel? Not gonna do it with batteries.

  134. shank says:

Tort reform, you’re a real MAVERICK there O.

  135. TmjUtah says:

McCain. Well played on the difference between running against Bush and himself.

Taking Obama down with NUMBERS on Obama’s only two budget votes.

Obama falters; “standing up to leaders”.

Supports to Charter Schools, Pay for Performance, Tort Reform, Clean Coal?

    WTF did that come from?

  136. MC says:

    I’m NOT BOOOOOOOOOSSSSSHHHHH!!!!

  137. Darleen says:

Um… making enviromentalists annoyed is not “reaching across the aisle”

  138. dre says:

Whooper ” I got a history of working across the aisle”

  139. Dash Rendar says:

“Even fox news,” what a fucking tool.

  140. shank says:

    Occassionally mistaken, what a dusche.

  141. serr8d says:

“reaching” across the aisle, Senator O? I visualize an amoeba’s pseudopod..not much of substance.

  142. Darleen says:

How is a spending freeze the same as the last 8 years?????

  143. sashal says:

right now Obama won that part, connected Bush to McCain

  144. shank says:

hell yeah, get in there McCain and don’t let him lie the last word on the subect.

  145. Sdferr says:

Has Obama looked at the GNP lately? Don’t tell me it hasn’t worked, lying scum.

  146. Rich Cox says:

    McCain has him monologing

  147. BRD says:

T-Minus 10 seconds to pissing match

  148. shank says:

Haha. McCain is really calling him out tonight. Must be getting sick of the BS.

  149. Sdferr says:

    Nasty? Bullcrap.

  150. serr8d says:

    Please…Ayers…wright…please…

  151. Dash Rendar says:

    HERE IT COMESSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!

  152. MC says:

    Here it is MAC…

  153. TmjUtah says:

O’s script doesn’t have much flexibility. O keeps going back to Bush. And McCain is ONE fucking senator; go find how many Dems voted on the same side as McCain going back eight or ten years. Bet they “voted for Bush”, too.

Point McCain, going to the hilt on “you haven’t stood up to your party”.

Schieffer doing damage control for O, trying to box McCain. “Mean”.

  154. Betterthanyou says:

    Holy shit

  155. Spies, Brigands, and Pirates says:

Oooooooh! Ayers opening! Don’t blow it, Mac!

  156. sashal says:

    kindergarten

  157. Darleen says:

    McCain needling him on townhalls

  158. Sdferr says:

Scheifer paints Obama’s picture for him. Nice.

  159. shank says:

    YES! Call him out dude.

  160. Darleen says:

Calling The One out about Lewis

  161. shank says:

Yes get him on going back on his word.

  162. public financing!

  163. serr8d says:

The HIGH road. Is it good enough?

  164. Darleen says:

Calling The One out on public financing!!

  165. Sdferr says:

Smirk is all you’ll get John.

  166. shank says:

McCain looked very decisive there. He was on a roll

  167. Darleen says:

    The One is stuttering

  168. Betterthanyou says:

Obama’s mouth guard just flew out

  169. Sdferr says:

Did he mention Ayers? NO, he didn’t.

  170. Darleen says:

Obama goes to the polls… AND LIES

  171. alppuccino says:

    Who’s that Betterthanyou tool?

  172. O!: MORE PEOPLE AGREE WITH ME!!!

    nice.

  173. Darleen says:

And Obama STILL HAS REPUDIATED LEWIS

  174. serr8d says:

Get mad, John. He called you a liar.

    TEMPER TIME!

  175. alppuccino says:

    me

  176. TmjUtah says:

I am liking McCain more than I thought. Reiterating his proposal for the ten debates. And now going to Lewis’ “Wallace” slur.

Nice move. And he’s called O! on his not repudiating. And McCain is absolutely right that McC has in fact been on top (correct or not) in immediately reining in any campaign statements he didn’t support.

Wow. Good, closing with O! not keeping his word on spending. Will O! toss Lewis under the bus? Quoting media about what is negative campaigning.

Fucking communist. Don’t get a pic with him near the river walk.

  177. Spies, Brigands, and Pirates says:

Call him out for the liar he is, McCain.

  178. dre says:

    Health care = drink

  179. Sdferr says:

  180. Dash Rendar says:

Heh Double Heh. Distractions disttractions why won’t you GET BACK TO THE GODDAMN ISSUES MCCAIN. heh

  181. aaaaand we’re back to Bush.

  182. Darleen says:

O! back to Bush and STILL NO REPUDIATION

  183. Matt, Esq. says:

That’s unbelievably stupid to refer to the polls in a debate.

“I’m winning so vote for me”.

  184. Sdferr says:

Ayers. Ayers. Ayers. Ayers. Just do it.

  185. Spies, Brigands, and Pirates says:

Obama back on extemporaneous bullshitting now.

  186. serr8d says:

    Great game, that.

    DAllas sucks~!

  187. alppuccino says:

Of course you’d love it terrorist pal arounder.

  188. shank says:

  189. Spies, Brigands, and Pirates says:

  190. Darleen says:

    Obama equivocating on Lewis!

  191. TmjUtah says:

    “Health care = drink

Hope you ate LOTS of bread before this started, sir.

  192. Spies, Brigands, and Pirates says:

Don’t let him off on the repudiation thing.

  193. eLarson says:

I’m sure Lewis will understand. By any means necessary and all that.

  194. okay… there’s the Ayers opening…..

  195. MC says:

  200. TmjUtah says:

Barak is rationalizing Lewis… against the “kill him” directed at Ayers at the Palin event.

  201. Spies, Brigands, and Pirates says:

    A second opening on Ayers.

  202. TmjUtah says:

He’s inviting McC to run as a messiah. Fat chance.

  221. old texas turkey says:

  223. Sdferr says:

  230. Darleen says:

“I don’t care about a washed up terrorist”

    AYERs ACORN!!

  231. shank says:

    Obama’s laughing!?

  232. Rich Cox says:

    There it is

  233. TmjUtah says:

    Ayers BOOM. ACORN BOOM.

That’s called a double tap. The Marine Corps taught me about that.

  234. alppuccino says:

Obama’s face says “here comes a lie”

  235. Matt, Esq. says:

    FINALLY. Here we go.

  236. Spies, Brigands, and Pirates says:

  237. shank says:

Bring up the CAC, McCain. Bring it up!

  238. Darleen says:

Obama is doing the Ayers is just a professor crappola!

  239. Ana says:

    Ayers. Acorn.

And he wrote my frigging book!

  240. Sdferr says:

McCain cannot let him get away with this.

  241. MC says:

So why didn’t pitch your Annenberg challenge as executive experience? Eh?

  242. Rich Cox says:

There is the door… who cares sho funded it… does that make it OK?

  243. Sdferr says:

    That is not Mr. Ayers.

  244. Darleen says:

Oh, poor little ACORN… just community organizers poor things

  245. shank says:

You’re going to have to put two and two together for them John. Tie him to those sinking ships and see if he floats.

  246. Spies, Brigands, and Pirates says:

O! looks like a little kid trying to lie to his mom about where those cookies went.

  247. Darleen says:

O! also TRAINED ACORN why did he not mention that?

  248. Sdferr says:

Cannot let him get away with this, as these are not the relevant facts.

  249. Matt, Esq. says:

    WARREN BUFFETT. DRINK !

floundering. Sinking. Tanking. Jim Jones ! From Jonestown.

  250. eLarson says:

He trained them too? I thought he had represented them legally.

  251. Sdferr says:

Bob is going to cut McCain off.

  252. TmjUtah says:

Forty years.. eight years old.. condemned acts… Annenburg. Script.

If McCain doesn’t point out 150 million, and doesn’t mention at least three of the recipients who got money who were former terrorists or Leftists…

And “all I had to do with ACORN” doesn’t jibe with what’s already public.

    Oooh. Invoking Buffet. AND Volker.

I’m waiting for McCain’s extend. How far will media will go to make this bleeding stop.

  253. Ana says:

Woods Foundation. Launching political campaign. Records are records. Thank you.

  254. Darleen says:

    McCain nailing him on facts

  255. SarahW says:

I ran away from the debate. Can’t watch anymore. It’s so painful.

  256. Sdferr says:

This is why McCain could use a lawyers background. Sad.

  257. Matt, Esq. says:

BAD transition into a positive message.

  258. TmjUtah says:

I’m doing radio. Is Obama really that smarmy? I hear smirking….?

  259. serr8d says:

What happens in the living room stays in the living room..

  260. Darleen says:

Obama now going to defend Slo Joe

  261. Mr. Pink says:

Obama just lied straight to our faces. Awesome.

  262. Rich Cox says:

    And… there is the lifeline

  263. SarahW says:

    There’s always comets from space.

  264. alppuccino says:

    ……..he has the smoothest forehead

  265. Spies, Brigands, and Pirates says:

You should watch it, SarahW. McCain is actually showing a bit of fire tonight.

  266. dre says:

Joey Hairplugs is GREAT. He’s from SCRANTON!!!!

  267. Sdferr says:

What a laugh. Joe the expert numbnuts.

  268. Darleen says:

Obama is going to try and give Joe a blue collar background??? Um…. untruthful…

  269. MC says:

There should be some Ayers and ACORN Googling…

  270. Ana says:

Palin vs Biden. Superb. Because Palin is a CONSERVATIVE.

Scrantin! Scrantin! He’s from Scrantin!!!!! Working families!

  271. Spies, Brigands, and Pirates says:

    SCRANTON! Double-shot for everybody!

  272. Rich Cox says:

The laugh defense. Last line of hope for the factually deficient

  273. Dash Rendar says:

NYT Tomorrow: John McCain attempted to lynch Obama last night and in other news, Gov. Palin is a skank.

  274. Mr. Pink says:

Obama “I never worked with Acorn, do not believe your eyes people. I can just say thats not true and count on my media buddies to never question me.”

  275. “Biden share my values”

    like making shit up?

  276. Darleen says:

Yes Joe agrees with O….. EAT THE RICH

  277. Matt, Esq. says:

Wtf. Defending Biden’s record ? And seriously does “working families” = “middle class”? I’m just not sure I understand.

  278. BRD says:

Please mention that Biden thought that the US and France got Hezbollah out of Lebanon.

  279. SarahW says:

O is president fucking allstate. Boop Beep Boop Beep

  280. shank says:

Give tax breaks to small businesses?!?!?
Yeah, just as Joe the Plumber.

  281. Spies, Brigands, and Pirates says:

I think that little smirk of Obama’s a few minutes ago lost him a lot of votes.

  282. Darleen says:

“Joe has always been on the right side”

    BWHAHAHAHAH

  283. alppuccino says:

O’s a little more relaxed when he’s not lying so much.

  284. SarahW says:

If this is how Allahpundit feels all the time I don’t see how he stays inside the window ledge.

  285. eLarson says:

Or that FDR got on TV in 1929 to explain to the American people exactly what happened.

  286. Sdferr says:

did obama say he did not launch his campaign in Ayers’ living room? It sounded as though he said McCain’s claim was false.

  287. TmjUtah says:

If Obama was the bo diddly lawyer he’s supposed to be, he’d not have hit the replay button on the talking points.

McCain is emphatically not running a script.

O! is reactive in any conflict situation where he’s mano a mano. This is very troubling.

  288. Mr. Pink says:

    Romney
    Guiliani
    Thompson

Should all be speaking instead of this guy.

  289. serr8d says:

Good job, John. Supporting Sarah Palin.

  290. Spies, Brigands, and Pirates says:

did obama say he did not launch his campaign in Ayers’ living room?

    Yes, he did. Verifiable lie.

Not that the MSM will call him on it.

  291. dre says:

O! are YOU QUALIFIED TO BE PRESIDENT?

  292. MC says:

McCain: If you are about change and hopey – why would you put the poster child for the old boy network and cronyism on the ticket? Eh?

  293. Sdferr says:

Decency is Palin’s hallmark. Big contrast with everywhere else we look in politics.

  294. eLarson says:

Maybe not his campaign (this campaign) but his whole freakin’ political career.

  295. serr8d says:

O! would abort ’em. That’s the Democrat’s answer to ‘special needs’.

  296. Rich Cox says:

    $PEND

  297. Ana says:

Cocamaemy. How do you spell that??

  298. Darleen says:

    Sdferr

Obama tried to say he didn’t, McCain said “yes you did” then launched into “facts are facts”

  299. Matt, Esq. says:

*O’s a little more relaxed when he’s not lying so much.*

Wait wait wait. There’s truth amongst the manure ?

  300. alppuccino says:

    Cocamamy! never used enough

  301. TmjUtah says:

Asking O! if Palin is qualified.

That’s actually dangerous; pointless, but O! could piss of the Hillary! womyns without too much forethought.

McCain going after Biden on votes and policies. O! danced around Palin, then badmintoned that fucking “special needs” talking point again.

  302. Ana says:

We need to spend more. That’s always the answer.

  303. Darleen says:

John about Biden “he’s just been wrong so much”

    hee hee

  304. Rich Cox says:

Qualified? She is more qualified than you O!

  305. serr8d says:

Why do we always have to spend more?

    He’s a DEMOCRAT! Buy them votes~!

  306. Sdferr says:

yes, I think that’s what I heard too.

  307. Ana says:

    Climate Control is easier.

  308. shank says:

McCain just hit ’em with a roundhouse, and the mod wants to change the subject. jesus.

  309. alppuccino says:

That being the Columbian spelling of cockamamy

  310. MC says:

Cockamamie – but that’s if you’re from the narth Ana…

  311. Darleen says:

“Why do we have to spend more?” thank you John

  312. Cook County Election Officer says:

    shank-

When your government gives you your job, your home, and your healthcare, aren’t you just a slave?

    You are simply cattle.

“If you want to be taken care of and not have to worry, that’s fine; you can just join the rest of the cattle. Cattle are comfortable– that’s how you recognize them. Just don’t complain when they ship you off to the packing plant. They bought and paid for the privilege.” – David Gerrold

  313. Ana says:

Hear that, Diana? Canadian oil is fine.

  314. Spies, Brigands, and Pirates says:

What is that noise I keep hearing? Sounds like someone is snorting coke in the background.

  315. TmjUtah says:

Eek. “Climate Change” from Schieffer; I guess it’s official, it’s NOT “warming” any more.

And this is not one I’m looking for McCain to make any points on.

    Be STRONG, SarahW! LOL….

  316. Darleen says:

    Oooo… I like the NAFTA/Canada line…

  317. alppuccino says:

    McCain is downright frisky

  318. Rich Cox says:

LOL Canadian oil is OK Unless there is a mouse in your barrel. Than its free

  319. Darleen says:

Obama is back to his ten year fantasy

  320. comatus says:

    C-o-c-k-a-m-a-m-i-e.

    You’re welcome.

  321. JHoward says:

The old duffer is taking stuff to the woodshed. Too bad he’s so wrong on so much.

But that Obama is all suit in love with the rather slimy sound of his own voice. How’d we ever get to this point?

  322. Ana says:

    Our children’s future!

    Drink!

  323. Spies, Brigands, and Pirates says:

You aren’t going to have ten years, O!

    Not going to happen. Nope.

  324. MC says:

    M’lady just watches us – she’ll only ask later if we’re done…

  325. Rich Cox says:

Answer the question O! 10 year plan to defeat Oceania!

  326. BRD says:

Given that there’s about jack you can do in four years in reducing dependence on a fungible good. So, I think I’ll do my part and go to Mexico and buy a case of motor oil to reduce our dependence.

  327. Dash Rendar says:

    Solid energy answer.

  328. *sigh* leases do no good, if there isn’t any oil there. goofus.

  329. Darleen says:

Obama is parroting Pelosi’s “use it or lose it” fallacy?????

  330. Sdferr says:

We don’t borrow from China, we buy their stuff with our money, they invest their earnings here.

  331. Spies, Brigands, and Pirates says:

Obama’s stealing Palin’s tactic on the “use it or lose it” thing.

  332. shank says:

I love how expanding capacity in Obama talk means policy-making. To most folks, expanding capacity means expanding fucking capacity, not indirectly forcing companies to waste resources on inefficient leases.

  333. TmjUtah says:

Dumb question, Schieffer. Quantities on oil consumption/imports would be pulled out of ass, at best.

But O goes ahead and says “TEN YEARS, not FOUR”… then forgets the question.

“Use or Lose” leases. O! doesn’t know shit about recovery. “We can’t drill our way”. Hey, communist, didn’t you see what happened on the WORD that congress didn’t renew the offshore ban?

    Fucker.

  334. JHoward says:

That noise, Spies, are O!’s trailing esses. But they’re articulate.

  335. Ana says:

I believe in free trade. Really?

  336. Ana says:

Oooooh. I believe in free trade when you cut the nuts off it!

  337. shank says:

You can’t force China to revalue their currency, Obambi. Even if you talk change and hope.

  338. serr8d says:

    Words mean things, SenatO!r.

  339. Darleen says:

    JHoward

I have so many issues with McCain…but Obama is so far left I can’t believe people are just laying down about it.

  340. Rich Cox says:

    Here it is

  341. shank says:

Drill here drill now, gotta love it. Love how McCain hits him on his semantics and double speak.

  342. TmjUtah says:

“Look at offshore drilling”. Well played McCain.

And Obama is exposed on free trade. He’s gotta lie; it’s a party thing.

  343. Darleen says:

Whoa…. McCain “praises” The O’s “eloquence”

  344. Ana says:

Free trade is just that: FREE. Not free trade with grappling hooks and ropes.

  345. Spies, Brigands, and Pirates says:

“Free trade” now defined as “selling exactly the same number of every item to the other country as they sell to you”.

    Novel. Fucktarded, but novel.

  346. JHoward says:

I think McCain is just flat sharper. So much for the self-evident brilliance of the O! phenom.

  347. lee says:

“I admire Sen. Obamas eloquence, but you have to pay attention to words”

    McCain reads PW!!

  348. shank says:

Obama look very happy with himself tonight, doesn’t he? Like the cat that ate the canary.

  349. Ana says:

    He’s rolling. This is good.

  350. Darleen says:

McCain nailing O on the Columbia free trade

But that doesn’t make Hugo happy, and Ayers daughter working for Hugo wouldn’t be happier either.

  351. Spies, Brigands, and Pirates says:

I don’t think that smirk is going to play well with the voters, shank.

  352. Dash Rendar says:

Wowza, didn’t see Columbia coming, but keep it coming, go for the effing jugular!

  353. TmjUtah says:

O! is waiting for Schieffer to MAKE IT STOP!!!

  354. Ana says:

Rights. Rights. Rights. He flings that word around a lot and it loses it’s meaning.

  355. MC says:

O! supports the Columbian communists! Che! Che!

  356. Spies, Brigands, and Pirates says:

I haven’t been following Colombia much, but let me take a wild stab here and guess that these “labor leaders” are communists.

  357. Matt, Esq. says:

Did the Messiah just say we should “enforce unfair trade agreements?”

  358. Sdferr says:

There have not been prosecutions? Is that possible? I doubt it, for some reason. ‘Spect we’ll be hearing from the Columbians tomorrow.

  359. we need cars of the future. NOW!!!! where’s my flying car? huh? why haven’t they even come up with those yet?

  360. Darleen says:

    “People can’t get car loans”

um… I just heard a Ford commercial today that said they were going to carry their own paper. They are offering loans.

  361. Ana says:

People can’t get car loans my ass. People who have decent credit and have a freaking downpayment can get car loans. I can walk out right now and get a car loan.

Here he goes with T Bone again.

  362. serr8d says:

Our automakers need blame Democrat-supporting unions.

Nissan, here, is doing just fine.

  363. JHoward says:

A fundamental difference between these two, McCain’s failings notwithstanding, is that O! really seems to think that if he can imagine it, it’s automatic policy. It’s the height of arrogance.

The old man has enough experience to speak to practical repercussions and outcomes.

Electing O! is an exercise in pure conjecture. I mean, listen to this egotist.

  364. alppuccino says:

The bent thumbs creep me out. anyone else?

  365. shank says:

    He’s laughing again. Dude. WTF.

  366. Rich Cox says:

Right… Tax Detroit more than tell them what to produce.

  367. TmjUtah says:

Just when Obama begins to impress me, he just flat fucks causality and prognostication.

Windmills and five million jobs and the clean, efficient cars auto makers SHOULD be making.

    Huh?

  368. Matt, Esq. says:

I wish McCain was smoother. I almost long for “strategery!”

  369. Sdferr says:

It may be better is cars are built in Columbia, actually. Hugo is Bill Ayers pal, John, did you know that?

  370. Darleen says:

    YES HERBERT HOOVER!!

  371. lee says:

Obama wants people like me to drive to work in a go-cart.

  372. Ana says:

Chavez! Daaaaayum. Smirk now Smirky Obamapants.

We’d like to thank you Herbert Hoover!

    And here comes health care.

  373. shank says:

    alpuccino –
the bent thumb doesn’t feel as creepy as it looks.

  374. Sdferr says:

    if

  375. JHoward says:

BOOM! Obama the Hooverite. And the mod pulls the plug.

  376. dre says:

    O! you Hoover

  377. Spies, Brigands, and Pirates says:

Obama is all about the “have your pie and eat it too” thing, isn’t he?

  378. Sdferr says:

Ah, the sad health care anecdote. Gotta love it.

  379. Dash Rendar says:

    Evil earth destroying go-carts.

  380. TmjUtah says:

Control or expand costs and coverage? huh?

Schieffer is responding to the red handle that O! pulled under the table…

Oh, and did these guys rehearse this? O! and Schieffer?

  381. shank says:

No, more like, have SOMEONE ELSE’S pie and eat it too.

  382. Big Bang Hunter (pumping you up) says:

    – Obama is rattled and pissed – McCain is eating his lunch.

  383. Darleen says:

Yes, O, I can keep my employer plan… UNTIL I CHANGE JOBS.

  384. Sdferr says:

NO, Sen. Obama, you KEEP your plan. I don’t want it.

  385. Spies, Brigands, and Pirates says:

Obama’s stuttering a lot tonight, isn’t he? He had that pretty much under control in the last one, but it’s back with a vengeance.

  386. Dash Rendar says:

McCain is eating his lunch, Shortly before drinking his milkshake.

  387. Darleen says:

Obama “just jump in the pool with us”…. increments into nationalized medicine.

There he is telling my daughter, the nurse, she doesn’t own her own labor.

  388. Ana says:

WE are going to manage chronic illness??? This is the job of the government?

  389. JHoward says:

“If you don’t have healthcare, what we’re gonna do is…

How about DC socialists kiss my ass.

  390. MC says:

Can the populace in general get that McCain is whoopin’ ass and Schoiffa is saving the hapless O!?

  391. sashal says:

THat’s why you will have a choice, Sdferr

  392. Sdferr says:

Why does American health care cost so much? Partly because it is so f-ing good.

  393. BRD says:

McCain needed, on the ACORN thing, to say you lied to me, you lied to Hillary, and you lied to the American people about your campaign financing, and now you expect us to believe you on voter fraud, with an organization that your campaign gave $800k to?

  394. eLarson says:

    If you don’t have healthcare

insurance. I’m guessing he means “healthcare insurance”. It’s a small thing, but it bugs me.

  395. Rich Cox says:

Its a right dammit… O! has said… so it shall be

  396. sashal says:

    moderators. All of them, sucked

  397. Ana says:

He’s gonna fine you. Yes. Let’s talk about that.

  398. JHoward says:

Not likely, MC. Minds are made up.

  399. TmjUtah says:

McCain bringing schools into the mix… noting they fall short in PT and nutrition ed. GOOD!

Tax credit to find your own coverage. Better than National Health UK or Canada.

  400. Spies, Brigands, and Pirates says:

Yes, the FINE again. Make the fucker answer that one.

  401. Rich Cox says:

I wont tax you… but i will tell you how you have to pay your employee(s)

  402. shank says:

    Define small business O.

  403. eLarson says:

I need a pony. For my healthcare. Therapeutic riding and all. Does the O! plan cover that?

  404. Diana says:

I heard it, Ana. Y’all look north now. HOPE!!!!

  405. Darleen says:

Obama… WHAT IS A SMALL BUSINESS TO YOU?

  406. MC says:

John’s incredulous on the fine? Whatcha got their John? Step in big MAC…

  407. Spies, Brigands, and Pirates says:

    Now the fine is “zero”.

    Sure it is.

  408. TmjUtah says:

Obama is flailing “large/small” … who decides, who COERCES, jefe… I mean, senator?

  409. JHoward says:

“I, King O!, exempt…” I do this, I do that. Wrong country, dude.

  410. Rich Cox says:

    What constitutes large?

  411. Ana says:

Somebody has to provide them with health insurance, eh? Does someone have to rake their lawns? Anything else that the government has to do?

  412. Sdferr says:

Oh, bullshit with the uninsured. Damn it.

  413. dre says:

Is O! arguing with the plumber?

  414. Matt, Esq. says:

please stop invoking Joe. I can imagine Joe getting famous off all this, going on a coke bender and ending up as a “guest” on what’s left of Air America, blaming the conservatives.

  415. TmjUtah says:

Obama has taken the clock. Schieffer is catching tonight. Or will be later.

  416. Mr. Pink says:

WHY DOES OBAMA GET 20 MINUTES AND MCCCAIN GETS 1?????????

  417. Darleen says:

McCain is making the health insurance PORTABLE

When I change jobs I get to keep my auto insurance and my homeowners insurance, WHY NOT MY HEALTH INSURANCE.

  418. Big Bang Hunter (pumping you up) says:

    – O! just used that lie he likes to use when he gets backed into the corner on drilling.

    – We hold 3% of the worlds oil supplies (est as 2,3 trillion barrals) but we use 25% of the worlds oil production (10 billion barrals a year).

    – The two fucking percentages have not a damn thing to do with each other. This is why no one trusts the CandyMan. He uses misdirection when he can’t honestly answer a question for fear of making one of his groups mad.

    – In other words, the ONLY way we can quickly start moving away from oil import dependency is to drill baby drill.

    – But WonderBoy can’t say it. So he lies.

  419. shank says:

John, explain that the tax goes back to your insurer into a flex account.

  420. Republican on Acid says:

  424. sashal says:

I told you in the beginning, we will see more of Joe. Am I good or what ?

  425. Pablo says:

    Did I miss anything?

  426. TmjUtah says:

You know what? No matter how anti-capitalist McCain may be, he’s freakin’ Carnegie or J.P. Morgan on a big damn train compared to Obama’s least economic inclinations…

  427. Carin says:

Man, you guys have been busy.

  428. Sdferr says:

Big gov at its worst, John, not best, jesus.

  429. Ana says:

What’s crazymaking about all of this is that on health care they’re both telling us how much they’re going to ‘give’ us. Of our frigging money.

  430. BRD says:

    Wait – is McCain’s 95% the same as Obama’s 95%?

  431. Matt, Esq. says:

  441. Spies, Brigands, and Pirates says:

McCain nailed him on the $12,000 thing. Good.

  442. shank says:

Fucking cut off by the mod AGAIN.

  443. MC says:

I love that too! SENATOR GOVERNMENT!!! Say it some more…

  444. Carin says:

Three glasses of vino, and John doesn’t look so bad. I’m all set for election day.

Of course, I want to bash Obama’s fucking face in. That smirk …

  445. Spies, Brigands, and Pirates says:

  449. Darleen says:

  450. Pablo says:

Man, you guys have been busy.

Ain’t that the truth. Hi, Carin!

“My plan is John McCain’s plan. Which really sucks, as I just mentioned.”

  451. Sdferr says:

    How would they know Bob?

  452. JHoward says:

So, to recap, free healthcare = reduced taxes for 95% of Americans. Those 5% are going to be seriously pissed.

  453. Spies, Brigands, and Pirates says:

  454. shank says:

  458. BRD says:

    Gang of 14!

  459. old texas turkey says:

Barry wants out. You can see it in his face. This is not the debate that I knew

  460. Carin says:

  464. Darleen says:

McCain nails Obama on ideology vis a vis SCOTUS

  465. Pablo says:

    O! voted against Breyer? Oopsie.

    Have at it, nishi.

  466. Sdferr says:

Breyer? crap. too many simple mental slips.

  467. TmjUtah says:

    Roe v. Wade litmus test?

McCain identifies as “federalist”. What was MF/CFR then?

He’s talking about the gang of fourteen. Just wait and see if the situation requires the Dems to use the “nuclear option” to get past cloture.

They won’t even blink. The Republicans will find themselves caucusing in the parking lot until they get a majority again.

  468. shank says:

yes, do not govern by your own ideologies, govern by the ideologies of the historical documents.

  469. sashal says:

Joe the plumber won this round

  470. FAIRNESS AND JUSTICE!!!

  471. Ana says:

Here’s your test: The Constitution. That’s the test.

  472. MC says:

Obama’s not qualified to discuss SCOTUS – he supports infanticide.

  473. old texas turkey says:

“fairness and justice” – what a marooooon

  474. TmjUtah says:

Obama is incoherent on Roe v. Wade.

  475. Darleen says:

If Roe were overturned tomorrow it WOULD be kicked back to the states. John was right.

  476. JHoward says:

    Courts…stammer…litmus test…stammer…[insert stock rhetoric]…stammer…

  477. Darleen says:

Come on O…tell us again how babies are punishments again

  478. Sdferr says:

Roe hangs in the balance? Only maybe, probably not.

  479. Carin says:

Hi Pablo. I’m watching you through the window (stalking), you’re ok with that, right?

JHoward – yep, that 5% is fucked. Of course, there may be a bit of “bleed over” …

Like plumbers … they’re gonna have to share that plumbing wealth.

  480. Darleen says:

    Obama is now arguing abortion?

  481. TmjUtah says:

Liberalism is a cult, and abortion is its sacrament.

Damn, O!, just spit it out.

  482. MC says:

First Ammendment? Then why are you suing 527 groups?

  483. Spies, Brigands, and Pirates says:

    Breyer?

  484. old texas turkey says:

is my right to healthcare immune from state referendums? sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet

  485. Matt, Esq. says:

If the One taught constitutional law, after this debate, I imagine most of his former students are constitutionally retarded.

  486. TmjUtah says:

    Oh, anecdotes. Wake me, etc.

  487. Pablo says:

So, to recap, free healthcare = reduced taxes for 95% of Americans. Those 5% are going to be seriously pissed.

  488. shank says:

BTW, I noticed the comment thingies aren’t moving leftwards tonight. nice.

  489. Darleen says:

Anyone keeping track of time between the O and John?

My husband is getting pissed because O is dominating the time.

  490. JHoward says:

O!’s appointing judges based on populism. Fail.

  491. Sdferr says:

Incoherent on Roe is easy as Roe itself is kinda incoherent, TmjUtah

  492. lee says:

Obama voted against Roberts and Alito , on ideological grounds. McCain won’t have litmus test.

  493. Spies, Brigands, and Pirates says:

McCain: mention the pay disparities between your campaign and Obama’s. Please.

  494. BRD says:

    Pay discrimination! Please please please!

  495. eLarson says:

    Galt’s Gulch, Cayman Islands?

  496. Ana says:

    He’s on a tangent.

If a woman is out there being treated unfairly I’m going to ride that horse!

  497. gah! change the law, YOU’RE IN THE LEGISLATURE. DON’T EXPECT JUDGES TO DO IT.

  498. Darleen says:

“it was a trial lawyers dream” AHAHAHAH

  499. TmjUtah says:

Obama just got saved by Schieffer. Saved from coming straight out and saying “I want judges to enact laws”.

  500. shank says:

    Oh NOES. the infanticide bill!!111

  501. Darleen says:

    Yes the BORN ALIVE act

  502. Dash Rendar says:

In fact constitutionally incapable from comprehending the constitution, blinded by the lightbringer’s lightness and such.

  503. Carin says:

That fucking SMILE when John is bringing up and uncomfortable fact. I just want to bash his face in.

And, it has nothing to do with the fact that he’s black.

  504. Big Bang Hunter (pumping you up) says:

    – See what O! did there. Family, Doctors, and Religious mentors just got added to the board of decision , with Obamas version of Roe/Wade.

    – Hes really doing the Washington two-step on this whole judges question.

  505. Spies, Brigands, and Pirates says:

    Born Alive! Yes!

  506. Sdferr says:

Much smirking out of O tonight. Could it be the moon?

  507. JHoward says:

Ooh, “present” 130 times. JMC is firing on almost all cylinders.

  508. MC says:

JOHHHNNNIIIIEEE MAC! Taking him to the woodshed on infanticide!!!

  509. Darleen says:

Obama LIES on the Born Alive act….

  510. lee says:

Brought up infanticide. OK, he didn’t say that, but still, this is an intense debate…

  511. dre says:

    O! LIES TO YOUR FACE

  512. alppuccino says:

    best eyeroll ever

  513. Pablo says:

I should slip into something more comfortable.

Look, Obama is lying! Dude, you’re busted on this one. Can you spin thorugh it?

    Get him, Maverick.

  514. Sdferr says:

Sorry, Obama, it is in fact true you voted the way you did. Why does this fuck always want to hide behind some nameless Republican?

  515. Darleen says:

“exception for life and HEALTH of a mother.”

  516. Rich Cox says:

The laugh is his tell. That and the way he licks Oreos

  521. eLarson says:

That and the way he licks Oreos
    Awesome Rounders ref!

  522. Darleen says:

Like our youth don’t know about SEX already?

Oh, that’s right, Obama wants sex ed for kindergarteners.

  523. shank says:

    Rich-
    Rounders – awesome flick.

  524. Spies, Brigands, and Pirates says:

    “Health of the mother”. Yes!

  525. Darleen says:

    McCain nails him on “health”

  526. Ana says:

You see how I have a speaker in his ear don’t you?

  527. Carin says:

Oh, no Pablo. That color looks great on you …

    carry on.

  528. lee says:

Obamas being all unifyee about abortion.

McCain brings up words mean things.

  529. TmjUtah says:

“Incoherent” on Roe because the president doesn’t have squat to do about it, really. But the last forty years the DEms have bugabooed their womyns and metros by making every presdential campaign pivot on the CW that the Republican candidate would shove women into alleys and toss coat hangers after them.

  530. sashal says:

Oh Sure, you all know when he lies. you all know the facts….

  531. Ana says:

Education. Hey Barky! What’s Ayers say?

  532. Spies, Brigands, and Pirates says:

    Annenberg Project!

    Nail his ass, McCain!

  533. Darleen says:

McCain is good, that is why Scheiffer keeps cutting him short.

  534. TmjUtah says:

    “Education”.

McCain: “Well we have folks like O!’s buddy Ayers working hard to bring on the revolution. Just sayin'”.

  535. Darleen says:

The Feds have no business in education. ARGH.

  536. Big Bang Hunter (pumping you up) says:

    – Gee. Did you know Obama is AGAINST ABORTION!”

    – I guess I must have missed that somewhere in the last two years.

  537. Sdferr says:

Spend lots, get little? Because of people like Obama and Ayers spending the money on political ideology rather than instruction.

  538. Pablo says:

JMC is firing on almost all cylinders.

    That’s what, 3?

Does O! remember WWII and the Depression? Never?

  539. JHoward says:

Yeah Bob, government schools do suck. And here comes a solid wall of bullshit — O!’s best chance to will into existence a shining new world.

  540. Ana says:

Recruit an Army of new teachers. Like a liberation army. Lebanese? Japanese? Simbanese?

  541. Mr. Pink says:

Rich Cox this is for you

    Let’s play some cardssssssss

  542. lee says:

That education question is bogus. “The US trails every country in the world in education”

    Bullshit!

Most of the western world maybe.

  543. JHoward says:

    3, Pablo.

  544. Darleen says:

Obama wants to toss $$$$ and make sure the teachers are rightly indoctrinated and they pass it on to 4 year olds.

  545. Darleen says:

$4000 to sell your soul to Obama

  546. Carin says:

Obama is such a fucking liar. Yes, Sashal, I can tell when he’s lying.

  547. Matt, Esq. says:

McCain’s dead on – Roe v Wade is a horrible legal decision. Its legislation from the bench in its purest form. I assume the legislature could make it legal if they wished to do so. Or, as McCain argues, which I agree with, the “moral decisions” let the states make the decisions. I have no problem with California making gay marriage legal. I have no problem with Vermont making abortion legal. The states reflect the values/beliefs/morals of the citizens. But for example, gay marriage- whereas many people would agree to gay marriage and/or civil unions in some states, the gay rights movement requires acknowledgment in every state (for all kinds of reasons). The compromise, which I think was the founders intent, was to make the states somewhat independent to reflect their individual citizens beliefs. The federal government is the common belief in one nation.

Hrmm. “How do you know Obama is lying?”

  548. MC says:

“working in a community” – in other words being an Alinsky Communist!

  549. Spies, Brigands, and Pirates says:

Obama plan: force you to attend indoctrination camp so you can afford college.

  550. TmjUtah says:

Is there NO problem that more money and more regulation won’t be the remedy, senator O!?

Go after the parents? Darn, I thought it was the village thing.

  551. shank says:

    Put away the videogames!?!?

GET YOUR DIRTY COMMIE HANDS OFF MY PS3!

  552. Ana says:

Whatcha gonna do? FINE parents if they don’t do it?

  553. Darleen says:

    School choice!!! YES!!!

  554. sashal says:

I know, carin, you get your facts from FOX

  555. clumper says:

Who does Obaaa think owns all those “big corporations” he wants to tax out of existence? Millions of little people – teachers, union members, firefighters, government emoployees and regular Joe Sixpack families – who have pension plans and 401(k) plans and investment clubs. Obama deliberately misrepresents the percentage of small businesses that exceed his $250,000 threshhold for damatically incre4ased taxes. He is a fraud and charlitan.

  556. JHoward says:

McCain is going all real on education. Can I believe my ears?

  557. Spies, Brigands, and Pirates says:

Last question, Johnny-Mac. Free shot at Ayers and the CAC here. Take it! Take it!

  558. Sdferr says:

missing hf tonight. He musta had to go to dinner with the boss people, schade.

Obama hits the corps. gotta hit the corps. corps corps corps until they turn into corpse corpse corpse

  559. MC says:

Q: Hrmm. “How do you know Obama is lying?”

    A: He open his mouth.

  560. lee says:

    Troops for teaching?

    THAT was awkward.

  561. Dash Rendar says:

Soldier teachers? Sweep the leftism right out on its pimpled ass, nice.

  562. BRD says:

    Hey! What are y’all drinking?

  563. shank says:

Of course he thinks the government should play a bigger role. That;s his answer to EVERY QUESTION dude.

  564. salgal-KS says:

Yeah Darleen…indoctrinated by “exceptional” university profs like his good buddy, Bill Ayers!

  565. Jeffersonian says:

McCain is going all real on education. Can I believe my ears?

He’s going to dynamite the Dept. of Ed??

  566. Darleen says:

    Federal money comes with strings

OBAMA LIES ABOUT NO CHILD LEFT behind

  567. Ana says:

Federal Government needs to be involved. Huh. Whoda thought?

  568. Carin says:

BS, Sashal. I don’t watch but, maybe, 15 minutes of Fox a day. The last 15 minutes of Brit Hume’s show.

    Wrong again, you are.

  569. Sdferr says:

    oh god……so tedious……such empty shit………

  570. JHoward says:

Here we go with the top-down education crap. Fail. Again.

Come on America, grow a perspective on this willya?

  571. TmjUtah says:

“That tradition has served us well BUT…”

Whew. O! almost went off script.

NCLB as “unfunded”. That would be the part that Kennedy wrote, if I remember correctly. He did that so the local teacher’s unions could bitch about “perform for pay”.

  572. Carin says:

    Sauvignon blanc.

  573. so, um, how are those schools doing, Obama?

  574. Sdferr says:

    Iced tea, BRD, whaja think?

  575. lee says:

Obama likes to parrot McCain on things that won’t offend the moonbats.

  576. Ana says:

You’re in bed with Teachers Unions Obama. Shut up.

  577. salgal-KS says:

Oh no! he’s bringing up his wonderful track record in IL…talk about CAC, John!

  578. shank says:

So the govt will help you find a job, then help you pay for your house, your healthcare, and your childrens’ education.

All while reducing taxes for “95%” of the population.

I swear to god, I’m tripping right? That’s not really what’s coming out of Obama’s mouth tonight is it?

  579. Sdferr says:

It is not about paying. It is about what you will teach and who will teach it.

  580. Big Bang Hunter (pumping you up) says:

    – Obama is trying to filibuster past the Ayers/Annanberg thing.

  581. TmjUtah says:

Money can’t do it, O!. McCain should ask where that 150 Xtra large went in Chicago.

That one sure looks lonely, all teed up on that perfect, flawless, grass. Right at the noob pins, too.

  582. Carin says:

Still behind. I get so irritated about this “health of the mother” bs regarding abortion. So loaded. So full of crap.

  583. lee says:

I don’t have school children anymore.

    Getting bored…

  584. Sdferr says:

And McCain will help him BBh.

  585. Harvest Moon Pumpkin Ale, here. hey, it was on sale.

  586. Ana says:

McCain stop talking about spending money. Oyyyyy.

  587. TmjUtah says:

is just drinking water. But I think my neighbor’s house is on fire, so things will work out well when we are done here.

  588. TmjUtah says:

Ought to be able to put out the SUV, too.

  589. Carin says:

This debate is so much better than the last one.

  590. Sdferr says:

Competition will reduce costs in education.

  591. Big Bang Hunter (pumping you up) says:

    – We need to reform the school system – we need to have transparency – we need to tell assholes like Ayers that want to indoctrinate our kids to go fuck himself.

    – Vouchers – Fuck yeh!

  592. Darleen says:

Scheiffer is letting Obama get the last word AGAIN…wtf!

  593. Pablo says:

How many times has O! said McCain is absolutely right tonight?

  594. Darleen says:

Obama just tossed vouchers under the bus

  595. Ana says:

Vouchers ARE the way to go. Unless you’re sucking up to the teachers unions.

  596. BRD says:

I’m drinking the iced tea, but I added the vodka. It makes them both sound much more reasonable and centrist. Except for the creepy socialist parts.

  597. shank says:

McCain is fucking LAUGHING HIS ASS OFF! hahaha

  598. Carin says:

You know, almost 90 minutes-in, and McCain is finally looking and sounding comfortable. ARg.

  599. didn’t Obama say he was for vouchers earlier? when he was rambling about his “unpopular” positions?

  600. lee says:

    See!?

Obama is grimacing and nodding with McCain!

    That fucker plays both ways.

  601. Darleen says:

McCain gets the last word by stepping on Scheiffer….YES

  602. TmjUtah says:

    Concur-
Obama agrees where the moonbats won’t pay attention too closely.

O! says there’s no data to support vouchers effectiveness.

BECAUSE THE TEACHERS BUY OFF THE ELECTIONS OR GET JUDGES TO OVERTURN WAIVERS BEFORE THEY CAN BE USED.

  603. Big Bang Hunter (pumping you up) says:

    – Obama’s trying to fight back to cover their Leftwing education programs.

  604. happyfeet says:

    these weren’t my debates

  605. Pablo says:

The data doesn’t show that it solves the problem? For a minute there, I thought he was talking about progressivism.

  606. TmjUtah says:

    “My friends”. Ugh. DRINK. Slosh.

  607. Spies, Brigands, and Pirates says:

“Healthy discussion” = eating Obama alive.

  608. Darleen says:

    Maggie

O was for vouchers before he was against them…within 5 minutes.

  609. Obstreperous Infidel says:

Bless you all for having the stomach’s to watch that shit. Bless you all. South Park was just very funny.

  610. Sdferr says:

Much better debate in general. Mccain is still a lame-o though. He’s just crap at snappy, gripping rhetoric.

  611. Pablo says:

Why the “last 8 years” bit? Bad idea, Johnny.

  612. BRD says:

See TMJ – that’s why the water will do no good without the fire.

  613. Big Bang Hunter (pumping you up) says:

    – NO VOUCHERS! – because you know, that would mean the Left would lose control.

  614. comatus says:

Politicians, both parties, are always offering a Nude Erection for America. I wish they’d at least wear some “protection.”

  615. Jeffersonian says:

Scheiffer is letting Obama get the last word AGAIN…wtf!

I can’t tell you how much shit I’ve thrown at the TV watching FTN. Scheiffer is a pink.

  616. Sdferr says:

    check, and double-check, BRD.

  617. He’s just crap at snappy, gripping rhetoric.

yep. sometimes I wonder if it’s just he’s gunshy about being called “cranky” cause he used to occasionally land a punch.

  618. JHoward says:

Yeah, “fundamental change” you cannot define, you fraud.

  619. Darleen says:

    Sdferr

McCain was MUCH better tonight. I’m glad this performance was his last..he got a lot of points in that needed to be said.

The One got away, again, without specifics.

  620. Big Bang Hunter (pumping you up) says:

    – Did He just admit Clinton was a loser? – and he still thinks hes running against Bush?

  621. Ana says:

Middle class. College for everyone who wants to go. Middle class.

Drink. Hit yourself with a hammer. Drink.

  622. TmjUtah says:

Obama is running against Bush. Damn that’s just sad.

Because of all the things that McCain is, he is emphatically not G.W. Bush.

Talking points, platitudes, “fought for my entire career….” that’s how long? It’s Wednesday…hmmm.

  623. Big Bang Hunter (pumping you up) says:

    – His entire career – all three weeks of it.

  624. lee says:

    McCain blinks a lot.

    Is that a tell?

    He’s stuttering a little too.

    Not good.

Obama makes you realize the reason.

    Teleprompter.

  625. Spies, Brigands, and Pirates says:

    “Fundamental decency”?

I thought we were all a buncha racists, Barry.

  626. Sdferr says:

Government does not understand investment, never has, never will. No politician who talks of investing your money for you should ever have your vote.

  627. Ana says:

    Our children. Drink again.

  628. Darleen says:

    maggie

McCain has been in the Senate too long, when “get along” is now seeped into his bones. He has a hard time sucker punching.

But he did land a few good punches tonight.

  629. MC says:

Johnnie Mac kicked ass… now the MSM spins…

  630. shorter O!: I will give you everything. and a pony!

  631. Big Bang Hunter (pumping you up) says:

    – He should have added – “And for you Little Socialists, vote early and vote often.”

  632. Ana says:

Cindy McCain. God she’s the worst.

  633. TmjUtah says:

Note that Obama interjected a positive note on America’s future. I can’t remember any Dem candidate doing that in a presidential debate.

I don’t think McCain lost anything.

  634. eLarson says:

Good. The horseback riding is good for the lower back, or so I’ve been told.

  635. Jeffersonian says:

I missed the debate…how much will O! pay me for voting for him?

  636. lee says:

Bret Hume: Joe the plumber is the star

  637. Sdferr says:

I’ll put a stopwatch on the show later tonight and see if I can’t report back tomorrow vis a vis McCain time vs Obama time

  638. Carin says:

Shit, he speaks in such platitudes.

  639. Darleen says:

    Ana

    What’s your problem with Cindy??

  640. Darleen says:

    Sdferr

My husband is convinced Obama got more time..and Scheiffer let him get the last word on a topic over and over.

  641. Carin says:

Jeffersonian – he will give you everything. The 5% will pay. Those fuckers.

  642. Ana says:

She looks older than John. And dead. Nothing personal. Just gives me the gut-level willies.

  643. Sdferr says:

I think I agree with you Darleen, that McCain was better tonight, much better, than in the last debate. He’s still too slow to notice his best openings, even when Obama hands them to him on a silver platter.

  644. maggie

McCain has been in the Senate too long, when “get along” is now seeped into his bones.

but we used to hear stories (not that long ago) about what a bastard he was to people that didn’t agree with him. that’s why he’s “erratic”. That was why my dad wouldn’t vote for him in 2000. I think he mellowed a little too much, and I doubt it’s the last eight years in the Senate that did it.

  645. Sdferr says:

did anyone notice, is Palin on scene?

  646. Carin says:

I think he mellowed a bit too much.

  647. serr8d says:

    Michelle: Baby got BACK!

  648. SEE!? McCain just made an angry face and grumbled at somebody!

  649. happyfeet says:

The insipid dried up cunts on NPR yet again find the debate utterly without any meaning for the race yet very significant cause of how well Baracky does.

  650. Ana says:

Mmmm. I don’t think he’s mellowed. I think he’s learned how to keep a lid on it and he’s afraid to open his mouth lest the old SOB hop out and strangle someone. Frankly I’d rather have the SOB. He was good tonight. Didn’t really let up too much.

  651. Darleen says:

She looks older than John. And dead

    I suggest corneal transplants.

  652. Dash Rendar says:

So how long till the CNN focus groups and straw polls tell us that Obama won handily?

  653. Jeffersonian says:

Jeffersonian – he will give you everything. The 5% will pay. Those fuckers.

That’ll teach ’em to give me a job that lets me buy cars, houses, scotch ‘n’ shit. Now I have a savior that will pull that stuff out of his ass, just for me.

  654. Carin says:

Happy, you need to wean yourself of NPR. I tried listening for a bit earlier today, but “Fresh Air” was a bit too much for me.

  655. Spies, Brigands, and Pirates says:

I could imagine those NPR ladies knitting at the tumbrels, ‘feets.

  656. Sdferr says:

Man, those USS Liberty guys(?) are certainly persistent on the C-Span.

  657. Big Bang Hunter (pumping you up) says:

    – On the Ayers thing McCain didn’t say THE line – “guilty as sin – free as a bird – only in Amrica”

    – He didn’t even mention Wright. He let Obama het Away with doing the “lets be less devisive” bullshit.

  658. Darleen says:

    Sdferr

Some people are great at debates, some have to work hard at ’em. McCain has never been a debate whiz. Ever.

  659. Ana says:

She doesn’t creep you out? Really? I think she creeps people out. I’ve been wrong before.

  660. Carin says:

No, you’re right Ana. He’s not really mellowed. He’s constrained.

  661. Sdferr says:

that’s because he’s a putz, BBH. We knew that going in, no?

  662. serr8d says:

John took the high road. Let him be remembered for that.

  663. happyfeet says:

I know, Carin. My new pc will help for sure. This one has no speakers anymore so it’s just easier to listen to the propaganda. Linda Wertheimer. What a fucking crone.

  664. Carin says:

Is it just me, or has M’chell put on some weight during this campaign?

  665. Darleen says:

    BBH

Going personal negative is always a highwire.

  666. Mmmm. I don’t think he’s mellowed. I think he’s learned how to keep a lid on it and he’s afraid to open his mouth lest the old SOB hop out and strangle someone.

that’s closer to what I’m trying to get at. we’ve seen a few instances in this campaign where he’s been reported as being “angry” and then you see the tape and scratch your head.

  667. Sdferr says:

664, Darleen, quite right. I don’t hold it against him particularly except to note it. But the fact of it can’t help, given the emphasis, right or wrong, that is placed by so many people on these dog and pony shows.

  668. Darleen says:

    Carin

I don’t know, but she is a very large woman and Cindy and Sarah are petite little things in comparison.

  669. alppuccino says:

The Luntz bunch thinks Obama won

  670. hoot says:

    let it out

  671. Spies, Brigands, and Pirates says:

Yes, Carin, baby definitely got some back going on there.

To quote the bard, “Red beans and rice didn’t miss her.”

  672. alppuccino says:

Of course, it looks like most of the Luntz Bunch are getting some of Joe the Plumber’s money

  673. Darleen says:

    Ana

She doesn’t “creep” me out. Why is it that conservative blondes creep people out? It’s like the people who make snarky remarks about Nancy Reagan.

  674. Ana says:

A little angry is a good thing. I’d like to see a Palin Obama debate. I bet she’d be happy to quote Ayers.

  675. happyfeet says:

The NPR crone is obsessed with Joe the Plumber cause she knows NPR listeners hadn’t heard a word about him until tonight. Too funny. She’s being very careful to make sure we understand that Joe is a very wealthy plumber indeed.

  676. Sdferr says:

The Luntz bunch, there’s another dog and pony show. Luntz is the paper trainer.

  677. Why is it that conservative blondes creep people out?

    it’s those wee beady eyes.

  678. “Oh, you’re drinking my beer!”

  679. alppuccino says:

The slimline sideburns really make Frank’s face look fat

  680. Big Bang Hunter (pumping you up) says:

    – I watched the focus group thing, a few in the audience said they had gone from undecided to O!.

    – I guess ita true. We’ve become a nation of American Idol watchers, and we deserve whatever Gov. we get.

    – Several said they thought O! delivered his comments clearly and eloquently. What I didn’t hear many say is that they actually LISTENED to the double speak he was delivering.

  681. happyfeet says:

oh. I would happily make snarky remarks about Nancy Reagan. When she dies I will not feel very sad. Also she made flakey babies.

  682. Spies, Brigands, and Pirates says:

You really wonder what those NPR people think they’re doing… I mean, aren’t about 95% of their listeners already voting for Obama anyway?

  683. McCain wins debate!

    Obama wins the election anyway!

As Al Czervik said years ago, “Hey everybody, we’re all gonna get laid screwed!”

  684. Spies, Brigands, and Pirates says:

I’m really disappointed that the Chicago Annenberg Challenge was never mentioned.

  685. Sdferr says:

Frank is fat, Al, what’s with the make?

  686. Pablo says:

I’ve got an ex-gf that looks a lot like Cindy McCain. I like Cindy McCain anyway.

  687. alppuccino says:

Yeah BBH. I don’t think think the Nobel people need any still shots of that herd of gerties.

  688. Darleen says:

    Charles

Obama only wins if we give up and let him. The pounding against ACORN needs to continue. Republicans have to both turn out the vote and then have lawyers ready to counter Obama’s brownshirts.

Obama was so disengenuous tonight my normally calm husband wanted to throw something at the tv.

  689. Sdferr says:

I’ve got an ex-wife that looks like Sarah Palin Pab’s, so I know what you mean.

  690. Ana says:

It’s not easy to grind Chicago Annenberg Challenge into voter-digestible pablum.

  691. alppuccino says:

Frank is fat, Al, what’s with the make?

True. But just think if he was sportin’ a big ole pair of Walt Fraziers. It might create a slimming effect.

  692. Diana says:

    It’s not easy being green.

  693. Darleen, I know you’d like to believe that but McCain is down about 2 million ACORN votes already.

  694. Sdferr says:

Now you’re just trying to make me cry, Al. Cut it out.

  695. Spies, Brigands, and Pirates says:

“$150 million dollars of school improvement money funneled to communists” works for me, Ana.

  696. happyfeet says:

oh. Now the NPR crone is punching the word bickering a lot. They must have focused grouped that.

  697. lee says:

Krauthammer calls it a win for Obama.

    Somehow I’m not surprised.

  698. psycho... says:

You really wonder what those NPR people think they’re doing… I mean, aren’t about 95% of their listeners already voting for Obama anyway?

That type needs a lot of head-patting.

There were about forty Obama ads during that Vermeer thing I was watching instead of the debate. For who?

“There there, art-related entertainment consumer. You are, now as ever, here as everywhere, unchallenged. Sugarplums.

  699. alppuccino says:

It’s not easy to grind Chicago Annenberg Challenge into voter-digestible pablum.

    Especially those Luntz Munchers.

“He make good words. Me hear money. O(mumble) be good boss of country.”

  700. CNN – Obama rocks
    MSNBC – OBama rocks!
Fox News – McCain let some fat pitches go by…

BTW, does anyone think the “focus groups” that are covered post-debate are anything resembling a focus group? Sure, Frank Luntz & Co could get straight answers out of a focus group in a closed room with a 1-way mirror…. but when the TV cameras are pointed at the folks and they know that their reaction to every phrase is shaping the election?

    Shameless plug below:
    Joe the Plumber T-Shirts here

  701. Darleen says:

Obama lied about taking public financing, the MSM is blatantly in the tank for him, the economy is bad and Obama tries to tie McCain to Bush at every opportunity, out spends in tv ad 7-1

So why isn’t The One 20 or more points ahead?

    He’ll only win by cheating.

  702. Big Bang Hunter (pumping you up) says:

    – All I can say is:

“RUDI, WHY DID YOU LISTEN TO THAT IDIOT POLITICAL ADVISOR!”

  703. Spies, Brigands, and Pirates says:

Obama didn’t even deny the $800K ACORN thing, as I recall. A little weasling, but no direct denial. The transcript will tell the tale.

  704. alppuccino says:

“He look right at me and tell me nice that house and school and dead babies be all right.”

  705. Sdferr says:

So, how are the Phillies doin’?

  706. happyfeet says:

NPR is establishing its narrative is all they do anymore. A lot of it I think is based on influentials theory, where they fancy they aggregate an audience of opinion leaders. It’s not feckless. Rich and white and tenured is their audience.

  707. Mr. Pink says:

If Romney or Guiliani was there…much different.

  708. Big Bang Hunter (pumping you up) says:

    – I agree with Williams. McCain missed his chance to really hammer the people behind this whole economic meltdown. Give them Frank and All the other bugs behind FMFM, but he didn’t do it, so hes lost yet another chance.

  709. Clint says:

    5-1 bottom 8th

  710. Mr. Pink says:

Well at least we know western PA will vote McCain. hahahahaha.

  711. Sdferr says:

    An Instapundit reader:

Another reader emails: “Obama comes off smirking nonstop or laughing and nodding to Schieffer while McCain is talking, but since only Fox [C-span had splitscreen too — sdf] is showing the split screen, most people aren’t going to pick up on that. His behavior reminds me of Al Gore in 2000. And not for nothing, but we’re near the end of the third debate, and not a single Second Amendment question or a Fairness Doctrine question in any debate.”

  712. Rich Cox says:

BBH, I still contend that the debate was not a viable forum for the FM^2 discussion. It is too complex for the average person… and probably not someone who was watching the debate in the first place. Sure, meat for the loyal, but there has to be a better way.

    Viral works well.

  713. lee says:

Even Fox is in the tank now, maybe trying to get some cred in the new reality.:

Hume: I think Reagan himself could have been in McCains place, and it wouldn’t have mattered

    Cole: McCain teh SUXXOR!!!!

Kristol: Why would I want to vote for McCain? (accompanied with shrugging shoulders and confused expression)

General consensus: We don’t really even need an election.

And this is the dreaded right wing propaganda department?

sashal is right about one thing…Sometimes I am embarrassed as a Republican. Aren’t fascists supposed to be efficient with these things?

  714. MC says:

I’m watching the Washington State gubernatorial debate – we’re hoping the Dems won’t steal the election here AGAIN this time…

  715. Big Bang Hunter (pumping you up) says:

    – I’ve said I could live with O! in the WH for 4 lousy years, and America won’t perish under His rein. Maybe 4 years from now some of the Republican front runners will decide to actually get in the game.

    – Romney is on FOX sleep walking.

    – On the other hand, a lot of people thought McCain was a zombie way back in the primaries, and he proved them wrong. So who knows.

  716. Ana says:

Yeah. You really do have two elections going on. Most people just want to know when the pony is going to show up.

  717. MC says:

Oh, Jeff – Ouch! At least O! didn’t break any of his bones…

  718. Darleen says:

    lee

Remember when the MSM used to decry the “corrupting influence of money” in campaigns?

Obama is swimming in dollars and NOT A PEEP.

McCain isn’t just running against Obama, he’s running against a Historical Image(tm) and almost the whole of the MSM that calls any criticism of The One “racism”.

I think it is remarkable he’s still within striking distance.

  719. ccoffer says:

Wasn’t Carter ahead of Reagan in October of 1980? I’m pretty sure he was.

  720. Darleen says:

    ccoffer

At this time in the Reagan/Carter run they hadn’t even had their first debate.

A Obama/Pelosi/Reid triumvirate will usher in a new Carter era. In 4 years, if America hasn’t been absorbed into the EU, you’ll see a Palin/Jindal ticket.

  721. Ric Locke says:

Y’know, I think I’ll go dig through my bookcase and read Space Viking again. Zaspar Makann wins…

    Regards,
    Ric

  722. Big Bang Hunter (pumping you up) says:

    – I think McCain made some good points but didn’t follow up enough, Overall this was his best performance.

    – One thing we can be pretty sure of, Obama is going to need a sizable lead going into election day. If the spread, which is probably somewhere around 4 -6 points right now, stays that low McCain may pull it out.

  723. […] More commentary from bloggers: John Cohen, Ann Althouse, Michelle Malkin, and of course, it’s always fun at Protein Wisdom. […]

  724. TmjUtah says:

    Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

Not too shabby for a debate in this day and age.

CBS ignored Rather and Mapes long enough to destroy their credibility as even MSM.

What happens to MSM if they ignore ACORN? The story is too big. And three weeks is too long.

Except for NPR. But then, I pay for them.

  725. Sdferr says:

Mega congrats to the Phils and their fans. Let ole Joe Torre wait another year. Don’t get cocky though Phillies people, the Ray’s have got some serious stuff for ya’s.

  726. Rich Cox says:

I hate the AL. Almost as much as goats.

  727. Clint says:

Sdferr, the Rays may have it goin’ on this year, but the BoSox aren’t out yet. Shall we recall last year’s ALCS?

  728. MC says:

Rossi mopped Gregoire in the Washington State debate – and, hey, there’s not after spin. So I get to decide. Cool.

  729. thor says:

    Punkage, ownage, Obamaged!

  730. thor says:

A bunch of you are being put out to pasture, you old creepy freepers.

    Just a reminder.

    O! is the 1!

  731. Big Bang Hunter (pumping you up) says:

    – Wheres thor-boi – He’s always such a gracious loser.

    – Well loser anyway.

  732. Darleen says:

O should be ahead by 20-30 points. He can’t get there even with almost every single mainstream media outfit whoring for him. Even with outspending McCain 7 to 1. Even with illegal foreign contributions, with ACORN registering millions of fraudulent voters, with activists assaulting Republicans and hate-filled mendacious articles against him, even with the One’s blatant lying about taxes, Ayers, his record and his rabid mentally challenged followers screaming “racist” at any criticism of The One’s Holy Pronouncements.

He’s a fraud. A suave, elegant, elitist, socialist fraud who will plunge this country into recession.

If nothing else, the Republicans will sweep back into power in 2 to 4 years after this fraud does Jimmy Carter II. Palin/Jindal 2012 will drink his milkshake.

  733. thror says:

I will now proceed to fellate the ONE!

Oh wait – been there, done that…

  734. thor says:

More excuses than a nun whose period is three months late.

It’s as I said it was.

The Man’s too big. The Man’s too strong.

  735. SteveG says:

Thank god no OODA loop references made it through my filter.
john McCain is an American hero… but he is a dolt when it come to a national campaign and at times seems to be a political coward who is afraid to get in there and get a little mud and blood on everyone involved

That said, I am tired of those polls that reference registered voters, likely voters without mentioning whether or not those same voters are actually eligible to vote

  736. thor says:

    Knock, knock

    Who’s there?

    The Recession

    Recession who?

The Recession we’ve been in the last 12-months you dumb ____!

  737. JWebb says:

For many years now, I have been caregiver for a very sweet elderly mother with progressive senile (vascular) dementia. Whenever her mind or frail body failed her, I would remind her of our new motto – “Screw It,” a phrase that has special impact coming from a deeply Christian, upright seasoned citizen from the Depression Era. After watching the debate tonight, she turned to me and said, “We need to change our motto to ‘We are so screwed.'” From the mouth of babes…

  738. SevenEleventy says:

O! got spanked by a plummer – ownage!

  739. SevenEleventy says:

“For many years now, I have been caregiver for a very sweet elderly mother with progressive senile (vascular) dementia.”

    Must be contagious!

  740. SteveG says:

    Oh yeah,

Before anyone takes me to the woodshed over calling McCain a coward, I’d ask that they look at how McCain has handled this stand against Obama. blame the media, blame everyone else, but the truth is that McCain when challenged has opted for collegiality and has sent a woman out to do the tough hacking.
    Good luck in November.
Note to John… if you want to win, fight hard until death. If you want to lose…. well you seem to be doing just fine

  741. JWebb says:

SevenEleventy – Just for the record, the sweet elderly demented one was referring to BOTH candidates. Also for the record, Fuck You.

  742. thor says:

    I second that “Fuck You!”

  743. geoffb (JARAIP) says:

From Gateway Pundit; “A Frank Luntz focus group on FOX News agreed that Barack Obama won the debate but they still don’t trust him and won’t vote for him.”

    Video at Youtube

So you think he is mendacious and untrustworthy but believed his answers enough to have him win?

  744. Big Bang Hunter (pumping you up) says:

    – Here’s the obligatory “shut up thor-boi”, just in case he’s out there lurking somewhere playing with his teenie weenie.

  745. SevenEleventy says:

Then you misunderstood my intent. I apologize if it came off wrong.

  746. JWebb says:

I guess I did misunderstand, SevenEleventy. No apologies necessary and I apologize for my response. My stamina is scraped pretty thin these days… Courage. (Heh)

  747. McGehee says:

John took the high road. Let him be remembered for that.

I would rather remember him for putting the first Alaskan in the vice-presidency, if I had to choose between one and the other.

  748. SevenEleventy says:

JWebb, I do wish you and you patient well. I’ll choose my words more carefully next time.

And thor, you do know I hold your “fuck you” in the highest regard. It means as much to me as a undigested corn kernel lodged in a turd floating in an unflushed toilet.

  749. sashal says:

    # 740.
    pure insanity

  750. SevenEleventy says:

    *an undigested corn kernel*

    Damn!

  751. lee says:

    #757
It takes one to know one!

I know, I know, but look who I’m talking to…

  752. Darleen says:

Someone doesn’t know the definition of “recession”

McCain was right… the last president in an economic downturn who decided to “cure it” with tax hikes and trade protections was Herbert Hoover.

then the next president, FDR, deepened and lengthened the Depression with his arbitrary policies.

It wasn’t the depth of the Depression but the length of it that was so devestating…taking a World War to get America out of it. FDR was a man who would decide what the interest rate would be awakeninging in the morning and contemplating his breakfast.

What isn’t explained as Obama whined cynically about the “unraveling of employer based healthcare” was the history how that came about… during WWII when heavy wage and price controls plus close to confiscatory corporate taxes, companies had to have some way to attract and maintain workers. VOILA, offering healthcare was a loophole.

But that means to keep your healthcare you are tied to your job. Healthcare should be portable and along the lines of auto insurance or home insurance. A person should be able to shop all sorts of insurance instruments across states. THAT would bring down the cost and make all manner of policies available.

Obama wants Canada care here. Way to just kill off the seniors. But that way he can also confiscate years of their accumulated estates through a reinstituted death tax.

The Greatest Generation is dying off and Obama is going to grave rob them.

  753. hoot says:

you are so fucked. ACORN is a non-story and is being ignored by everyone for good reason. Sorry bout your luck, assholes.

By the way, anybody here know how I might get Al Franken’s tongue out of my ass?

    Don’t ask.

  754. hoot says:

oh Darleen, your perfect mind fails you yet again.

Oh. And about the Al Franken tongue thing? Nevermind. I’m starting to get the hang of this, I think.

  755. hoot says:

I’d act like a pissy little bitch too if I were you.

And by “you,” I mean Al Franken’s tongue. Come on you little pick devil. Get petulant with it!

  756. Darleen says:

    hoot

Refute with facts anything I’ve said.

The death tax will be back with Obama. For each senior that owns their own house, a car or two, some stock and jewelry, the kids will have to sell it to pay off Obama.

Obama, the ghoul, will grave rob WWII vets and their families to SPREAD THE WEALTH AROUND.

  757. Darleen says:

Jesse Jackson is so assured of his “family member” Obama as President, he’s gone all Hymietown anti-Semitic, telling everyone that the Jew-controlled policies of America will be at an end.

  758. hoot says:

you are truly an idiot who knows only her precious talking points. “grave rob the WWII vets”. Christ. Who ran up our current deficit, genius? Our kids are already going to pay for Bush’s decisions. No more, thank you.

No sir. Give me the fiscal discipline of socialism. That’s the ticket, boys. ALL ABOARD THE GRAVY TRAIN!

  759. Spies, Brigands, and Pirates says:

ACORN is a non-story and is being ignored by everyone for good reason.

    Felony charges in Michigan.

    State RICO charges in Ohio.

Joint task force of state and federal officials, including the FBI, in Nevada.

    State probe in Indiana.

ACORN throwing its own founder under the bus.

    Investigation ramping up in Wisconsin.

Yeah, everyone is “ignoring” it, all right.

  760. hoot says:

BTW, nice wingtard revisionist history where FDR is one of history’s greatest monsters, outdone only by Jimmy Carter. Any other pearls up there in that ole noggin of yours?

Oh, and speaking of pearls, I believe Al Franken just left me a nice new necklace!

  761. Spies, Brigands, and Pirates says:

Tell us again how everyone is “ignoring” ACORN, hoot.

    That was a good one.

  762. lee says:

Wait, we never had a deficit before Bush?

    That BASTARD!!

  763. hoot says:

Oh, get back to me when these suddenly important ACORN investigations get anywhere. You have until Nov 4th.

Whereas Al Franken’s tongue can apparently make it through Easter and still have enough left in it to suck the creme out of a Cadbury egg.

    WOOT!

  764. Spies, Brigands, and Pirates says:

    You have until Nov 4th.

Haven’t heard of impeachment, I see.

  765. hoot says:

IMPEACH! Ha! Classic. Good luck with that one, scooter.

The people will revolt against the law! The One transcends your puny terrestrial legislations. He shall RULE UNTIL HE DIES!

Or until Al Franken’s tongue falls out. But I’m betting on the former.

  766. Spies, Brigands, and Pirates says:

Good luck with that one, scooter.

    Tell it to Clinton, skippy.

And all he did was lie about a blow job.

  767. hoot says:

I’ll add that America will be much better when you crybaby egotists are pushed out to the fringes. We’ll finally be able to get our national healing on!

Me and Al’s tongue have a nice headstart, though, I must say.

YOU’VE PUT YOUR PEANUT BUTTER IN MY CHOCOLATE!

  768. Spies, Brigands, and Pirates says:

By the way, ignoramus: the next President of the United States won’t be elected until December 15.

  769. hoot says:

yes, and Clinton’s impeachment is now regarded as a partisan witch hunt without merit. Want to place bets on how an Obama impeachment over ACORN will go over? I heartily suggest you push this, however.

BECAUSE THE PEOPLE — AND AL FRANKEN’S TONGUE — DEMAND THAT O! REMAIN ABOVE THE LAW.

    Like Nixon!

  770. Spies, Brigands, and Pirates says:

Clinton’s impeachment is now regarded as a partisan witch hunt without merit

    According to you.

It’s still on the record, nonetheless.

Want to place bets on how an Obama impeachment over ACORN will go over?

Massive voter fraud? Yeah, that’s going to go over well, ignoramus.

  771. hoot says:

fringe wackos aside, the election will be over November 4th. The margin will be too great to overcome with bullshit lawsuits. It will merely make the GOP look like the whiny fools they have become.

Unlike me. Who can bang away on my keyboard while Al Franken does tongue laps around my sphincter — and never once let out a yelp!

    yelp!

  772. Spies, Brigands, and Pirates says:

The margin will be too great to overcome with bullshit lawsuits.

    1) No, it won’t.
    2) The President isn’t elected by popular vote. Never has been, never will be.

  773. hoot says:

“Massive voter fraud”? Fucking. Hilarious. How many times does the difference between registrations and votes need to be explained to you? It isn’t hard, really. Even for a proteinwisdom regular.

WHEN WILL YOU LEARN THAT THEY ARE JUST ENGAGING IN ALL THAT PHONY REGISTRATION AS PRACTICE FOR WHEN THEY HAVE TO DO THE REAL REGISTRATIONING! Like, duh

  774. Spies, Brigands, and Pirates says:

. How many times does the difference between registrations and votes need to be explained to you?

How many times are you going to repeat the same fucktarded talking point?

Sticking a gun in your pants and walking into a bank wearing a mask isn’t bank robbery either, but good luck with the jury on that one.

So, what’s the purpose of the fraudulent registrations, ignoramus?

  775. Spies, Brigands, and Pirates says:

By the way, my compliments to whoever is clarifying hoot’s comments.

  776. hoot says:

um, to get money out of ACORN? How many votes were cast with ANY previous ACORN related questionable registrations, jackass? You just don’t get it, though it is very simple.

THE ABSENCE OF PROOF IS PROOF OF ABSENCE! Christ, reichwingnuttiaubermensch. Study your Conan Doyle.

Or is it 21 Jump Street? Quick, Al Franken’s tongue. Get Richard Greco on the line, stat!

  777. MC says:

    JWebb – you rock!

I mean for a world famous composer and all…

  778. geoffb (JARAIP) says:

How’s that indentured servitude doing there hooty. If your O! wins it’s going to last a lot longer than that 3 month hitch you expect. Ask Bill and Bernie about how sleeping on couches and basements gets to you after a year or so.

So many fun years ahead for you “Camp Obama Special Junior Community Organizers”. Do they give you gold stars yet or just the lovely rainbow stickers for your “Special Community Organizer Notebooks”?

Ah, the joys of being young and ignorant. The years will just fly past.

  779. Spies, Brigands, and Pirates says:

So, what’s the purpose of the fraudulent registrations, ignoramus?

Come on, hoot. I’m sure there’s some perfectly reasonable explanation for those tens of thousands of fraudulent registrations.

    Tell us what it is.

  780. Spies, Brigands, and Pirates says:

um, to get money out of ACORN?

ACORN denies paying piecework rates, ignoramus.

    Try harder.

  781. hoot says:

so much homophobia, almost as if… nah, there’s no way a closeted Republican would EVER pretend to be manly and straight. Never happens.

Me, on the other hand, am quite proud to admit that I can carry on a debate with Al Franken’s tongue planted firmly in my rectum like some sort of delightful, twirly iPod made from flesh.

Ooh! Was that Def Leppard I just felt…?

  782. hoot says:

Oh no. Wingtards DEMAND ANSWERS! Or else they might cry. Let me get right on that for you guys.

(Just kidding, by the way. I have no intention of trying to come up with an answer. Did I fool you? Be straight with me. I can take it. In fact –)

  783. Spies, Brigands, and Pirates says:

Ah yes. The old “‘homophobes’ are secretly gay” chestnut.

Just like all KKK members are secretly black, and all ACORN members are secret anti-communists.

  784. Spies, Brigands, and Pirates says:

    Wingtards DEMAND ANSWERS!

It’s clear that you don’t have any answers, ignoramus.

Hope you haven’t done any ACORN work, son. You DO know that RICO charges don’t depend on overt acts, right? Merely working for the organization is enough.

  785. Darleen says:

    hoot

did I say FDR was a “monster”? No, I related FACTS about the Depression. FDR personally PERSONALLY set interest rates. Employer based healthcare came about because companies were NOT ALLOWED to offer hirer wages to attract workers. Hoover ushered in the Depression with the wrong policies, FDR lengthened it with his.

The Greatest Generation, the one before the Boomers, the ones that worked their whole lives, paid their taxes, saved, paid off their mortgages, put away money for retirement

Obama’s death taxes will devestate them.

Own it hoot. Obama and the rest of you Leftists are ghouls. Someone dies, you are ready to swoop in and take the gold filling from their molars.

  786. Darleen says:

So, what’s the purpose of the fraudulent registrations, ignoramus?

    DOS, fuckwit. ala Alinsky

  787. Darleen says:

Leftists are ghouls — Steal from the dead, infanticide, euthanisia, eugenics… Arbeit Macht Frei!

  788. geoffb (JARAIP) says:

I bet hoot has one of those extra special rightwingnut “code word” decoder rings. Free in every box of “Special O!” cereal. Breakfast of Community Organizers everywhere.

  789. pdbuttons says:

    franken got tung?
    franken got brain?
    bolts in his neck…
    big slippers?
it’s funny[kinda] how much one can afford when they don’t pay taxes

  790. Spies, Brigands, and Pirates says:

Hope you haven’t done any ACORN work, son. You DO know that RICO charges don’t depend on overt acts, right?

    hoot?

  791. Spies, Brigands, and Pirates says:

What happened to hoot? Did he get a sudden urge to start shredding all his ACORN pay stubs or somepin’?

  792. sashal says:

For Wingnuttia the explanations for the disaster will be legion: McCain ran a terrible campaign, he wasn’t a real conservative, the Palin pick was ridiculous, the MSM was once again horribly horribly unfair, the Democrats made the stock market tank — in short every explanation but the real one, which is that, after a generation of success, the powers that be in the GOP have gotten sealed off in their own little fantasy world. It’s a world in which “real Americans” care deeply about things like Bill Ayers, and flag pins, and crypto-Muslim terrorists, and hockey moms, and the Incredible Success of the Surge ™, and activist courts spreading teh gay. Unfortunately “real Americans” now make up about 25% of the population, and the proportion is shrinking by the day.

  793. Pellegri says:

What, and fake Americans care about national healing(tm), healthcare as a right, and making sure life is fair for everyone?

C’mon, sashal. What’s worth voting about in the other 75% of America that you aren’t talking about?

  794. JWebb says:

Thanks, MC. Will be at Cutting Room, NY Nov. 8. Come if you can.

  795. The Lost Dog says:

Late to the party, as usual.

Although McDoDo didn’t exactly kick ass last night, I did get the feeling that, while he was rolling up his skirt, there was a hint of a testicle on his body.

You think it’s bad now? “O” are you in for a very rude awakening.

You want to give socialism a try? I’d rather have a heat wave in Chicago. Less bodies.

  798. alppuccino says:

    “I don’t mind paying a little more.”

    –BHO

What does the POTUS pay in taxes?

I don’t mind paying a little more, but no charity. That’s just too “Hey look at me!”

  799. alppuccino says:

Obama gives hoot exactly what he needs: Less reason to get off his ass.

  800. Big Bang Hunter (pumping you up) says:

    – Their entire passion for politics is simple self interest. Same as sashal, the aimless wandering Socialist.

    – They’re a-struttin’ and q-crowin’, just like the fat broiler that doesn’t see the axe just before it falls. Fuck ’em. Let ‘rm learn the hard way.

Pellegri – I have been rather mixed up in death and politics mixing, the last few years. It rather makes me sad. All I can think of is the Hezb’ i-Islami Gulbuddin and Hekmatyar Gulbuddin. What was a parliamentary party in Afghanistan turned into a continuing death cult in Hekmatyar’s evil hands.

I also get sad when I see the commentary of people like hoot, sashal, et al. The hate is so out of place in the US. I hate very little – Hekmatyar, I hate him. AQ, I hate them. I do not hate Sen Obama. I do not hate those that will vote for him. Why should they be so enraged at so much?

Dave. Even if Obama wins, you’ll still be a pathetic loser.
