about the GWoT. Fail:
The differences on Iraq in this campaign are deep. Unlike Senator John McCain, I opposed the war in Iraq before it began, and would end it as president. I believed it was a grave mistake to allow ourselves to be distracted from the fight against Al Qaeda and the Taliban by invading a country that posed no imminent threat and had nothing to do with the 9/11 attacks. Since then, more than 4,000 Americans have died and we have spent nearly $1 trillion. Our military is overstretched. Nearly every threat we face  from Afghanistan to Al Qaeda to Iran  has grown.
Moron.

I guess for someone like Obama 1 out of 3 isn’t bad.
BTW, did you catch that part where Obama states that even though his judgment was 100% wrong, he was still exactly correct.
“In the 18 months since President Bush announced the surge, our troops have performed heroically in bringing down the level of violence. New tactics have protected the Iraqi population, and the Sunni tribes have rejected Al Qaeda  greatly weakening its effectiveness.
But the same factors that led me to oppose the surge still hold true. The strain on our military has grown, the situation in Afghanistan has deteriorated and we’ve spent nearly $200 billion more in Iraq than we had budgeted. Iraq’s leaders have failed to invest tens of billions of dollars in oil revenues in rebuilding their own country, and they have not reached the political accommodation that was the stated purpose of the surge.”

There’s only 2 ways to end a war, win it or surrender.
O! is not about American victory.
Why the hell is he allowed a pass on this?
Always a good thing to check the scheduled posts first thing in the morning. Just sayin’.
OTOH, your post on the O! national service army is Insta-lanched.
That’s an important point that you make, Darleen.
For example, Obama presents the often cited progressive notion of a talking point that the Iraq War is the wrong war and Afghanistan is where we should be fighting- even attempting to establish some Military Credibility by committing to a “troop surge” in Afghanistan.
So, someone needs to get him on the record as taking an official position of Victory against AQ/Taliban or Bust in Afghanistan- (even if it takes 100 years!). Because we all know it is the moral war and it would be the right 100 year occupation.
Anyways, Obama should have to explain the apparent contradiction in his promoting Victory over AQ in Afghanistan, and seeking to leave Iraq without meeting the same objective.
Add to that stupidity, the cause of the anxiety that I suffer, this. Now, just how do I go about moving all my liquid assets abroad – just as the Kennedys do – to avoid taxes and the coming U.S. economic disaster? I mean, I lived through the Carter economic hell, but I didn’t much to lose then.
Ptui.
Nearly every threat we face  from Afghanistan to Al Qaeda to Iran  has grown -Obama
You mean Saddam is still a problem? You know, the one we had been hearing about for almost 3 decades? I wonder what Saddam is thinking about Baracky’s statement? Geez. What a maroon!
He prioritizes his policy based on not offending the nutroots.
First. Last. Always.
This indicates an inability to admit to himself that the “fringe” is exactly that. So he is engaged in pursuit of being elected president while ignorant of the political demographic of our country, simultaneous with demonstrating zero knowledge, or interest, in the war whose future he will decide should he ascend to the executive.
Missed it by that -> <- much…
My sister-in-law, a Democrat who lives in Manhattan, recently told me that she will probably vote for McCain because she thinks Obama just doesn’t understand the US security situation.
I had to work real hard not to either scream with joy or pass out.
