Muslim Woman Protests X-Ray Specs [Dan Collins]

The sort of protest I’m sure that she would not have felt so free to perform under Saddam’s reign, don’t you think? The sort of protest it’s almost impossible for NPR’s listenership to grasp the shockery of. So, bravo!

Warning: not safe for dhimmis

    BOOBIES!

    Bet you to it, JD!

  2. lee says:

Yeah. I’m sure in this age of internet porn, checking out this camels body was just what that soldier was interested in.

  3. The Lost Dog says:

OOOOOh! This will probably get me in trouble, but how cool is a machine that lets you see a hairless Muslim vagina?

Muslim vaginas are last on my list of “must see”, but, hey! At my age I know that I wont be seeing any cheerleaders vaginas. A burqa clad Muslim woman will have to do, if I don’t have to deal with extraneous hair.

Oh! How far can we fall with the onset of age?

I know that this is beyond the pale, but I really don’t care anymore. I am so old that I sometimes think that Harry Reid should crumple the Constitution into a little ball, and shove it up my myopic, regressive ass.

I deserve it for believing in the Constitution.

Kind of interesting that the first “related story” listed below the article on that link was a pointer entitled “More women join the ranks of Muslim suicide bombers.”

  5. Dave E. says:

Well this is a lame story, even by NPR standards. The story itself finally lets on that this woman’s protest happened at least a month ago, and that women do not actually have to go through the scanner. Of course, you have to get to the second to last paragraph to read that.

It also fails to recognize that the image the woman showed looks to be from 2003 and is a TSA employee that she probably pulled down from the internet. Is that “backscatter” technology really being used to secure the Green Zone? Maybe, maybe not. You can’t tell from the story, because that might actually require…I don’t know, reporting skills?

Non-story of the week. So far.

  6. Dave E. says:

Oh, and I meant to add: That shadow on the left hip appears to be a gun. Not exactly the best image for a protest…no?

  7. Topsecretk9 says:

    Dave E. you are right.

    But

It’s almost impossible for us, as Americans, to grasp just how shocking this was. First, you have to consider that for Farah al-Jaberi, an observant Muslim woman, conservative attire doesn’t mean a tailored pantsuit; it means full hijab: a headscarf that conceals her hair and throat, topped by a head-to-foot abaya, a black drapery that’s designed to obscure any hint of a womanly shape underneath.

Lemme guess, NPR didn’t know anyone who would vote for Nixon either?

WTF? If you get your news from lefty sites and blogs who still pine for the good old days of Saddam’s kite flying and Taliban stadium execution rallies national gatherings!

I like Dan’s clever ways. I can see the feminist in America’s next gripe about Iraq war, it’s unleashed the hardcore vigilante anti-feminist anti-choice woman that Saddam was so good at oppressing.

Funniest shaped gun I ever saw…

Iraqi checkpoint x-ray vision monitor.. Not a job I covet… Dr 90210’s quality control inspector.. yes. OBGYN to the stars.. yes.. maybe.. some stars**.. but Iraqi x-ray vision monitor.. uh,uh…

I know it gets lonely on overseas deployments.. but never that lonely.

** specifically: Penny Cruz, Naomi Watts or
Mary Louise Parker.. and that one chick from get Smart.. cant remember her name.

I didn’t even know we had that kind of tech.

    Geshundiet!

  13. Ernie G says:

You didn’t know we had this kind of tech? We’ve had it for years:

  14. Education Guy says:

Her objection seems to be that male guards will see her “naked”. To me it’s a legitimate enough concern, as we have taken steps here in the states to ensure that women get only women to handle security searches.

I agree that it is super cool that she can protest, and will have her concerns acted on.

TWO boobies posts at the top of PW this morning? I’m gonna protest …

  16. Pablo says:

    Breasts not blogs!!!

  17. Ric Locke says:

    Heh, as they say.

The correct response to that is it isn’t Muslim men looking at the images.

Muslim men, by their own repeated assertion, go wild at the slightest hint of femininity, so the burkha etc. are necessary defensive measures.

Western men are stronger than that. You have only to glance at our media, or even our family snapshots, to realize that we see feminine characteristics all the time and in full detail, and mostly manage to do so without going nutso and raping everything in sight. Not only that, in cases where rape, etc. do occur, we are strong and brave enough to go after the perpetrator, instead of being so cowardly and pusillanimous that only the victim is weak enough to be subject to punishment.

    Regards,
    Ric

  18. Major John says:

I did rather enjoy the woman’s “and then he pulled me aside and pointed a gun at me!!1111!!1!” assertion. I love the local ability to titivate any complaints up a bit. [yes, that was deliberate].

This sort of thing keeps up, we’ll have to start denouncing ourselves again…

As Woody Allen said in Eveything You Always Wanted To Know About Sex…, “They usually travel in pairs.”

Goddamn functionally-illierate progressives. Do I have to do all the rewrites for them?

I have been called a dhimmi countelss times. I figure it is a person who is stupid enough to call themselves a Democrat. But I am curious about the etymology.
