Proving once again that the Common Dreams folks really do have a voice in the world, “Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister Tarik Aziz promised ‘another Vietnam‘ for the United States should Washington decide to attack his country.

“In an interview to be published Monday by the French daily Le Figaro, Aziz said ‘against the United States, each town will become another Vietnamese jungle,'” Agencia Efe reports.

‘Our government has a very healthy relationship with the people,’ he claimed. ‘If they were not happy with the regime, we would not have survived two wars and 11 years of sanctions. Therefore, do not speak to me about dictatorships.’

“Besides, those who speak to me about dictatorships shall be gutted as infidels, and their insides fed to hungry dogs, their families made to watch, their women raped,” Aziz said. “We find this a very efficient way to manufacture consent.”

Reached for comment, Noam Chomsky ordered a spanish omelet and some coffee, thinking me his waiter.
