Previewing the Fairness Doctrine [Dan Collins]

At Bloggasm, Carissa Snedecker finds her Google blog suspended:

“At first I thought it was just this random thing with Blogger’s spam bots,” she told me in a phone interview. “I thought that perhaps in their looking across the blogger universe, that I got accidentally flagged somehow. Stuff like that happens.”

But a short time later Snedeker received an email from another blogger claiming that a number of anti-Obama blogs had been “hacked” that same night. After some digging it became apparent that several Blogspot accounts had been shut down because of similar spam issues, and nearly all of them had three things in common: Most were pro-Hillary Clinton blogs, all were anti-Barack Obama, and several were listed on justsaynodeal.com, an anti-Obama website.

Change you can believe in!  (h/t Insty; now with ‘lanche! (thanks, Karl))

Oh, there is change coming. It just will not be the kind of change that we will like.

  2. BJTex says:

Of course, when “she who must not be named” was using multiple Blogger accounts to harrass and libel multiple people (including our scary catch wrestling guy) it required a herculean effort to get her “spots” removed. The Obamatons, bunching spam alerts on the individual blogs, found an easier way to silence the opposition.

This is all good as the PUMA crowd will only be stiffened in their resolve to resisit all things Obama. I can’t wait for the convention.

    Thoratlas sweeps by to declare Dan a !RACIST! in 3 … 2 … 1 …

  3. Log Cabin says:

Standard rule of thumb when opposing leftists: Their first instinct is to silence dissent by whatever means possible. Open debate threatens them mightily.

  4. BJTex says:

Yes, LC, starting within their own party! Must keep the commisariat under control and speaking with one voice, after all.

  5. Neo says:

Sounds like she and the other anti-Obamaniacs should move their blogs to somewhere where the “trip-wire” isn’t so sensitive.

  6. Big Bang Hunter (pumping you up) says:

    – Well apparently the Hillbots got in a little payback the other night with some paint decoriously applied in artful ways to some Obama campaign SUV’s.

    – ‘Tis the campaign season in Marxocrat village. Gotta love it. How’s it “feely” moonbats?

  7. Free Barack! says:

You’re just mad because Obama outsmarted you! Like McCain, these newfangled computer-thingies are just too complicated for you. Obama isn’t silencing dissent: he’s just silencing racist hatred. There’s a difference, and, like porn, good people know it when they see it. Under President Obama, those of you who’ve gotten SOOOO comfortable writing hateful things may not just find yourselves silenced. You may see the inside of a jail cell. And America will be better for it.

I for one would like to denounce all racially biased commentators on this thread and hail our new, post racial leader! May he reign, *OW*, I mean serve, serve for many years!

    O! (*whimper*)

    ARUGULA ASCENDING!!!!

  13. Bilwick1 says:

“Obama isn’t silencing dissent; he’s just silencing racist hatred.” (Like he has a right to do that.)

Of couse, under the New Order, “racist hatred” will be re-defined as “that which opposes the Obamessiah.”

  14. CArin -BONC says:

Big Brother Obama is watching you!

Was that racist? I tentatively denounce myself.

  15. JD says:

Not wanting to vote for Baracky is not called silencing racial hatred?

  16. CArin -BONC says:

    Black Brother is watching you!

  17. CArin -BONC says:

JD, that you don’t see it is only further proof of your racism.

  24. ProggHero says:

That is not me JD. I do believe having racist thoughts should be grounds to throw you in jail however. If you actually have the temerity to post those thoughts online you should get a caning like you went on a drunken bender in Singapore.

  25. ThomasD says:

Except, when arugula lands in Europe it becomes rocket.

  26. Techie says:

How very fascist of you, Proggie.

  27. Techie says:

Will you call it “thoughtcrime”, or is that already taken?

    Nice.

  29. Dread Cthulhu says:

Techie: “How very fascist of you, Proggie.”

But it is a kinder, gentler Fascism, Techie — y’know, with the sort of storm-troopers who holler “Have a Nive Day!!”

  41. Sterling says:

And of course this is the big problem with utilizing community ‘web 2.0’ resources like blogger instead of hosting yourself. I pay my webhost – they may shut me down but they can’t make me wait four days before communicating. Also, with FTP and shell access I can move my site to another host if I’m unhappy with them.

  42. geoffb says:

    This,
“GeekLove said. “Also, Obama has ads out hiring people with no experience, except the ability to use computers. I presume these are the individuals responsible for silencing any opposition. His campaign has really harnessed the power of the internet and in the process learned to game the system in a way that I find frightening.””

fits right in with his MO in the State Senate and US Senate campaigns. Shut out all the opposition by any means at hand and the win is assured.

The comments section at many blogs is sure to get very interesting now through the fall. Interesting times indeed.

True story – Some years ago, before the collapse of the Soviet Union, a nearby congregation maintained a large placard on their lot facing the street:

    “FREE RUSSIAN JEWRY”

And as it was on the busline, they did indeed receive inquiries.

“We here ’bout the free Jewry?”

  50. Jimmy C. says:

This is the natural result of Bush’s shredding of the Constitution. After all, you never hear any criticism of Bush because people know that he will throw you in Guantanamo Bay for it, just like the numerous individuals down there now for being in the wrong place at the wrong time and getting in the way of Bush’s desire to wage war on the non-white peoples of the world. I am quite sure this is Karl Rove manipulating everything behind the scenes to make it look like Obama is even worse than Bush, which certainly is not true. Besides, Google has a right to remove anything about Obama that isn’t true, and I am sure all of these websites are doing nothing more than publishing lies and false propaganda for Bush and McCain. Speaking of McCain, why isn’t anyone talking about how he made a propaganda video for the North Vietnamese? Everyone complained when Jane Fonda expressed pushed for peace in Vietnam ye don’t care that McCain was a mouthpiece for them.

“This is the natural result of Bush’s shredding of the Constitution. After all, you never hear any criticism of Bush because people know that he will throw you in Guantanamo Bay for it …” #53.

Wasn’t Stephen Colbert shipped off to Guantanamo after his speech to the National Press Club? He’ll never get out of there now that Bush has destroyed all checks and balances resulting in a tame Supreme Court.

Finally, the comparison of McCain with Fonda is dead right. I for one am unable to think of any “context” that might explain McCain’s actions. Fonda, on the other hand, was clearly coerced.
